WOW ! Certainly not the Siem Reap I remember from 2017. I spent two months there. No rocking ear splitting music from the Temple Club/Bar on Pub Street? Amazing. The whole place looks dead. I hope it come roaring back when the work is all finished. Except maybe keep the Temple Bar or club quiet. The one time I went in there, I had to wear ear plugs. The sound level was enough to cause hearing damage to people.
I’m returning this coming winter. Really miss the Buddhist temples, the monks, and my friends. Really miss relaxing on the walking bridges over Siem Reap River. Relaxing at Peace Café, tacos at Viva Mexican and Khmer food restaurant. Really miss Angkor Wat Archeological Park. Maybe I’ll stay and live there this time. With a visit to Phnom Penh, Bangkok and Chiang Mai now and then. I hope Giant Ibis Bus is running again. Thanks for the video. 🇰🇭👍🏼☸️🌴

One positive thing is that, if it wasn’t for covid Siem Reap would never have nice and clean roads... Roads and sidewalks were so bad despite all the revenue generated by tourism so I’m glad they starting this (messy) work 😅

Look at the bright side, during this Covid lockdown. The city is less busier, so the government took this opportunity to change the look of the city (the new road, sidewalks, water system, the river side, the new airport) and the temple area and all of it will be done at the end of 2021🤩 right now the look in temple areas are showing up so bright, beautiful and peaceful and I’m looking forward to the city areas when it’s done.

What happened? Was there a fire? or due to pandemic related recession that forced businesses to close down? It was such a happy place years ago. I love the unpaved roads in Siem Reap. More lands than people. Very peaceful. The locals and tourists are friendly. Such a great retirement place. I just learned from myself that you don't have to rich to live well. Just avoid toxic, overcrowded and too industrialized places like a city and live in a place which combines the modern and the exotic. Siem Reap is one of these places.
