I think I'm going to give this a go today! Im a bit of a newbie, started sewing in January and have been taking on projects that are way too challenging. I believe this will be more my speed! Thank you for the beautifully layed out tutorial. Very easy to follow along with 😀 Wish me luck!
Amazing video that has inspired me to finally get started with sewing. Also really love the video! - Informative, right to the point and not filled with side-notes and therfore easy to watch, understand and follow. Can't wait to watch more of your content.
Thank you very much for the video. I am Brazilian and my English is not very fluent, but his explanation was so calm that I managed to understand everything and even subscribed to his channel. Congratulations on the work. Gratitude, gratitude, gratitude 😘😘
I’m so happy to read this 😊 English isn’t my mother tongue either but it is so much fun to be able to communicate with people from all around the world ! All the best to you and happy sewing ✂️🌸
Thank you, the steps and explanations have helped me a lot to make the zafu, it has been super, I love it, I was meditating with normal cushions. If I have to say something, it is that the endings, that is, what we overlap to close, would be better instead of leaving them in a zig zag, make them a small hem. Thanks again. I'm about to make another half-moon shape that I've tried and they are very comfortable. It will be something similar to this in the realization, only that instead of being round it would be a half-moon shape, right?
Such a great tutorial, thank you so much. I am a Vipassana meditator. In my country, it's impossible to find any grain husk or shells and kapok. The best choice I have is sheep wool. If I use spelt will it be too hard to sit? I am so confused.
Thank you 🙏 I don’t think it would be too hard to sit on, but the pillow would be very heavy ! You can also use tiny scraps of fabric. Cheap and easy 👍
I would suggest making an inner liner and sewing a zipper into the outside. That way the outside can be washed and kept clean very easy. Be sure to prewash and dry the fabric so it is not going to shrink up to small.
Thank you, this tutorial is so helpful! My Zafu is almost finished :) I had a few questions about the filling - how much spelt did you use? Is the cushion very heavy? I like your idea to use spelt instead of the traditional buckwheat hulls. I was going to use dried beans, but I think they would be too heavy. Thanks!
Thank you 🙏 you have to make sure they are of great quality. Also I recommend checking the inside of your pillow once in a while, it can happen I’m afraid. You can also fill your cushion with fabric scraps 🌸 happy sewing !
Thanks 🙏 it depends on the width of the fabric you plan to purchase. May I suggest you trace your zafu pattern in full scale on paper and then measure how much fabric it will take. Happy sewing, let me know how it goes ! 🌸
Hi, thanks for your tutorial. How much buckwheat do you put it on ? Is it heavy to hold ? We can also do a cushion inside and a cushion case with zipper.
First of all thank You for this wonderful easy to follow tutorial. I have a major question, is it mandatory to wash the fabric before cutting it? I wont wash the cushion later on. In my experience I never had to wash a Zafu ever. I won't skip this step if necessary... 😊 Would love to receive an answer! 🙏 Love Paulina
I really like this style but I am afraid it has too small vent and I would not be able to put an extra pillow inside. How can I add an extra pillow inside? Isn't the hole too small for that? Thank you in advance ♥️
Been watching your fab video’s. Is there a reason you did not use your Bernina machine for this project? Hoping to buy a Bernina and am concerned about its ability to sew something like this, thanks x
Hello 👋 I am testing a little sewing machine to recommend for beginners since the Bernina is quite pricey. But for my everyday life I use my Bernina of course, it is amazing and if you can afford it I wouldn’t hesitate 😉🌸
Bonjour 👋 It depends on the width of your chosen fabric. I always recommend to trace the pattern on the paper first, full scale. This will allow you to know how much fabric will be needed. 🌸
this is one of the two most beautiful and graceful videos I have seen on TH-cam.
This is so kind to say, thank you 🌸
I agree

Absolutely a little hem would be a beautiful finishing touch ! My fabric was too bulky for that I'm afraid.

@@RomyStanZakStudio you are very welcome♡
Thank you for the tutorial! May I ask how you clean the cushion?
I take the filling out and wash it. It’s a bit time consuming though 😉🌸
Great tutorial! Thank you so much ❤
My pleasure ! How did it go ?
@@RomyStanZakStudio ı haven't tried yet. But let you know when i try
Maravilloso, bastante bien explicado, me haré uno! ❤
I'm so happy ! Enjoy 😘
Awesome tutorial! Can't wait to start sewing mine. Could you please teach a tutorial on how to sew a zabuton cushion?
Thank you 😊🙏 I will look into that ✂️
wow would love that too
Thank you, this tutorial is so helpful! My Zafu is almost finished :) I had a few questions about the filling - how much spelt did you use? Is the cushion very heavy?
I like your idea to use spelt instead of the traditional buckwheat hulls. I was going to use dried beans, but I think they would be too heavy. Thanks!
Thank you 🙏 I’d say about 2 or 3 kg. And the result is quite light and practical to move around. I believe with the beans it would be rather heavy 😉
That was my question too. Thanks both ☺️
Thank you! ❤
You're welcome 😊
Buen tutorial. Muy bien explicado. Gracias por compartir. Saludos desde Girona 😘😘😘
Gracias 🌸🙏😊
This project is very beautiful and simple too, I think I can do it. I would like to know if spelled grains don't spoil or give "bug"... gratitude🙏🏼🕉🌷✨
Thank you 🙏 you have to make sure they are of great quality. Also I recommend checking the inside of your pillow once in a while, it can happen I’m afraid. You can also fill your cushion with fabric scraps 🌸 happy sewing !
Great tutorial! Thank you! How much spelt need to fill the pillow?
Thank you 🙏 about 2 or 3 kilos of spelt husks. The grain itself would be too heavy. Happy sewing ! 🌸🍃
@@RomyStanZakStudio Thank you ❤
Beautiful tutorial, thank you! I guess I will need to learn to use a sewing machine again 😄
Yes do, and besides it’s like biking, you never really forget 😉🌸✂️

Great video!
When purchasing fabric to make the this Zafu what measurements would I need please? Thanks

@@RomyStanZakStudio Ok thank you for replying.. I will update you☺️
Just beautiful
Merci Beaucoup x
Avec grand plaisir 🌸🍃
Hi what is the material your using called and could I use this same material for the bolster ?
Hello ! It's a thick cotton blend used for upholstery. For the Zafu I used a thick cotton canvas. Both works ! Happy sewing 🙂
Thank you kindly 💖😊
Hi, thanks for your tutorial. How much buckwheat do you put it on ? Is it heavy to hold ? We can also do a cushion inside and a cushion case with zipper.
Yes indeed you can add a zipper and an extra pillow for the inside 👍
Thanks for the video! How many kg of spelt did you use for this zafu? Can I also ask where you bought it? Thanks a lot ♥
From the top of my head I'd say about 3kgs. I bought it online.
First of all thank You for this wonderful easy to follow tutorial. I have a major question, is it mandatory to wash the fabric before cutting it? I wont wash the cushion later on. Hello Paulina and thank you ! If you are 100% sure never to wash your zafu in the future, no need to do it the first time eithe 🙂✴️✳️
@romystanzakstudio thank you, it's my first sewing piece and I'm so impatient to begin. Hihihi 🤗😊 No I won't wash it. Have a beautiful day, Romy!
I'd love to see a picture when you are done !
you are so inspiring!!
Thank you 🙏

great video !!! whats the cushion filling?
Thank you 😊 I used spelt husk 🌸
I really like this style but I am afraid it has too small vent and I would not be able to put an extra pillow inside. How can I add an extra pillow inside? Isn't the hole too small for that?
Thank you in advance ♥️
You could add a zipper around for instance 👍🌸 and of course sonny hesitate to make the pleats wider if needed ✂️
Thousands of thanks
My pleasure 😊 hope it went well !
Muy bien explicado. Muchas gracias

What was putting in as stuffing?
You'll find a link in the description box 😉
what are you using as a weight?
An eyelet press for curtains 😇

Hi, how many metres of fabric do I need to purchase to make this item?
Bonjour 👋 It depends on the width of your chosen fabric. I always recommend to trace the pattern on the paper first, full scale. This will allow you to know how much fabric will be needed. 🌸
Thanks from Chile🙏🙏🙏
My pleasure 🌷
Por favor un zafu desenfundable con cremallera por ejemplo
May I know what kind of fabric you use?
It’s a thick upholstery fabric made out of coton 🌸🍃
Wowwww perfect 💚👌🇨🇴
Merci 🙏🌸🍃

Thank you 🙏
You are wonderful
Thank you 😊
How many lbs of filler did you need?
Hi ! I used about 2 to 3 kilos 🌸
Con un cierre quedaría mejor en vez de coser a mano
You can do that indeed !
Así es más fácil para colocar más cantidad .o lavar y sacar el relleno, ect
u make it look so easy #goalz
But it is ! Have a try 🌸🍃👍✂️
