I often took kittens from animal volunteers to help them feed them with the help of my cats. And the cats always accepted the kittens. Basya's behavior seems to be an exception or she really senses pathology in the kitten

You had such a good plan to move forward with veterinary assistance, before she disappeared and left this little one behind. I worry about her, and about all of you. Meredith, I was even ready to drive two or three hours to the vet with this kitten. But the answer was that they couldn’t help me with such a newborn baby. There is no such equipment here. But it’s true, and my vet said that usually the most they can do for such babies is to inject to prevent dehydration or antibiotics if an infection has developed.

When I was a senior in high school many moons ago my cat had kittens he was just a street cat I mean she, she left as soon as she had all the kittens and never came back until she was pregnant again two years later. I took care of all of the kittens every two hours fed them had no idea you were supposed to rub them so they could pee or poop I never did that because I didn’t know. My mom didn’t know no U2 back then should’ve called a vet.We all grew up to be healthy and strong
