I remember just opening the game in the middle of the night for the first time and hearing this. I just stood there and listened to it for a while without actually going on with the game. I just already knew that from the moment I heard this theme I would love this game, and I still do years later
Sometimes, even the simpler of tunes, can pull at a man's heart strings. This in few simple notes incapsulates the beauty of our world. The complicated and the simple, the good and the bad, regardless of which you experienced, cherish your time on this Mother Earth to your fullest. Nothing's more wonderful, than a gift of life... man can i be cheesy at times.
When I first started playing through the games, I didn’t think much of this theme. I thought it was a nice intro theme, and appreciated its appearance in Mother 3, but didn’t think much else. However, after having spent about a year with this series, and thinking more about this song and what it represents, I’ve truly come to adore it. It’s the first song you hear in the entire series, and I feel that it represents it wonderfully. It sounds a bit sad, but it also sounds happy, and optimistic. All of this already makes the song sound beautiful on its own, but it only gets better when you learn what its name is and think about it in the context of the rest of series and its events. Looking at it like this introduces a new feeling into the song. A feeling of love for the world, which each game has plenty of. It may not have appeared in every game, but it really does feel like this is the main theme of the series.
Okay so coming back around a week later, and yeah this comment was definitely just an overblown response to hearing a really good remix of this song, but still this is pretty good on its own. Definitely one of my favorite tracks from the series.

Mother 1 may be the title that is basic. But you gotta give it credit for the fact it created a legendary trilogy and kicked off the greatest adventures and soundtracks I have ever experienced in gaming.
It may be unforgiving but the music and lore (yeah because another video stated that limitations cut out some of the important bits) is absolutely sweet. I adore the music a lot, the final stretch of the game (once you read the lore) is even more sad since it revolves around an emotionally conflicted alien.
I like both and the one I like more always changes depending on how I’m feeling, but Mother 1 is so special. I got more attached to the main characters of 1 than I did in Earthbound. (3 is so different I don’t like to compare it, its great in its own way)

While I do wish it got used more in the series, like as a main theme maybe, it does reappear in Mother 3, although in that game it’s titled “Time Passage” and is used near the end of the game.
