      Do you get pain on your lower ribs from this? Around the side above your hips and the front of your rib cage?

    hello, a common mistake instructors is to presume the student knows about all the other stuff regarding posture while stretching...it would be helpful if u mentioned knees - locked or bent, core - on or relaxed, feet - together or apart, etc...thank you!

      the same here - I wanted to know what to do and what to avoid, whether you should keep your trunk tight, whether you should avoid bending backwards in your loin part of the spine etc.

      @@MegPatyczakPlowman physical therapist here, you should keep your trunk relaxed. If you have sciatica I would avoid trying to bend backwards in general. This muscle pulls your lower ribs down when you breathe out, so keeping everything relaxed and breathing in while you stretch it is important. You could also put a tennis ball off to the side of where your last rib is and lay on it while you breathe in deep with a relaxed posture.

    I got this injury from forcing my self in a thoraric spinal twist 😔 My pain is unbelievible during the nights...what can i do? Thanks from Sweden

    Hi, I'm having a pain on my serrates posterior inferior that comes and goes. I have done the stretch with the ball and is fine but when I do with the dumbell sideways it hurts a little, is that OK to feel it ?

    In fragnebt 1:00 - 1:30 you show not only stretching but also lifting [strenthening bu dumbell lifting]. Which serratus posterior inferior is targeted and strengthened by the weight in this exercise? Is that the same which is being stretched [i.e on the side where you keep the dumbell] or the one on the opposide side?

      but serratus posterior inferior's function is the depression of the ribs so its very hard to find an exercise for that, it'd be hard to even consciously use the muscle without any weight just as a movement, its mainly for breathing

      or breathe out like, real hard
      i cant even touch it cause my lower back muscles (erectors n s) are so stiff. my lower back is a rock

    I cannot lift my arm to far up because of impichment at my glanohumeral joint. How else can i do this stretch?

      In case this is still relevant to you or others. Strengthening serratus anterior helps outwards rotation of the shoulder blade, which combined with stretching or loosening the antagonist muscles like pectoralis minor can help people with impingement symptoms. I could try to explain exercises in here but looking them up with visuals might work better. Good luck on your trainings everyone and remember it's often easier to have it looked at by a professional to determine what's wrong than master it by yourself :)
