what are people talking about..its a great song it hink..just the best cover of paint it black awesome song..so don't complain and just listen to it..or don't
there are aspects of this I like and aspects of TBDM's cover I like. I prefer the screaming here, but some of the heavier instrumentation on TBDM's version would work better than what TAS used.
The first CD I bought from Agony Scene was either the First or Second CD they released.. @ the end of the CD there are at least 4 songs live or not all , but I have never been able to find that specific CD or them songs ever again. THEY FUCKING ROCKED !! Anyone else know what eye b talking about ????
@Julsi3 no, hes definitely right. there is only so much you can do to a song before its ruined, and while i love basically ever song by agony scene- i can't say this cover did the OG justice. same with black dahlia murder's cover (my favorite band, tied with whitechapel.) just something in the original that these covers cant reproduce.. its not BAD, its just not.. as good. i like it though =D
I think this song is about the agony of cultural alienation. Death brings that feeling into sharp relief, but it haunts some people all their lives - presumably including the lyricist and composer.
When I talked to these guys after the show they played in Vancouver,BC with SYL in like 2005 or 2006, the vocalist said he and 1 or 2 others are Christian, and some of their songs definitely have some religious aspects to them.
Wow, I had this song years and years ago. So nostalgic. @dootdoot89 I don't think you can really compare the two. I mean, if I didn't already know the lyrics I wouldn't be able to tell what TBDM were singing. Still a good song though.
@AddoNexusMusic Not sure why you are leaving a comment about The Black Dahlia murder on a song from The Agony Scene, unless you are referring to an earlier comment that I missed..
@Julsi3 just a suggestion. if at any point its possible to make it so people cannot comment on your video, you should take the opportuinty. I love both versions of this song, but others dont seem too like it. so just dont give them the opportunity. its kinda harshing the song, and i take offense to that. only a suggetion to conserve the epicness fo this song
@MikyWrita I agree, but it is actually pretty hard to decide with this band, like in this song for instance it is very much metal like, but in some of there originals they do come across kind of screamo like.
People who care if a band is Christian or not are hipsters and scene kids. A true music fan. A true metal head cares not for semantics nor genre, just music.
@raoulthompson i was stating it as definite-opinionated. while the wording i use does show i would be stating it as fact, i never claimed it as fact but rather as agreement with another poster. how i meant those words to be interpreted is completely different from how they WERE interpreted.
This is legit one of the best cross-genre covers ever recorded in all of human history
The Black Dahlia Murder one is way better.
2024 and still just as epic as the day it came out
So far the best metal cover of this song I heard. At least, in my opinion
I like the unseen cover More but it's More hardpunk. We add that as If it was metal?
I gotta agree with that guy ^
I like the unseen cover better.
Black barrel smoke is the best one
Yes and The black dahlia murder are the best
Your opinion? Psh! What you said is a fact...and it's not up for debate
Best cover. Anytime I hear the song this is the version I hear in my head
I love and miss this band. Awesome guys. =(

Hard to believe I saw this live so many years ago, how I miss the times of late.
Uzi Tenenbaum Like five years ago to me
I got to see them live, the first album
Finally a great Paint It Black cover!! Heavy as HELL!!
Still Listening to this in 2023!! Great Cover.> Underrated band
been looking for this cover for years, thank you!!!!
I love the song normally but as a metal head this was the only thing that truly described how I felt the day of my mothers funeral.
I'm so glad I got to see them live once, it was an amazing show
This was used on an old independent wrestling into video! It was fantastic!
One of my favorite covers of this song!

Still has the best high scream I've ever heard. So brutal
Awesome Cover
The Strain, season 4 episode 7 made me come to look for metal cover of this song!
what are people talking about..its a great song it hink..just the best cover of paint it black awesome song..so don't complain and just listen to it..or don't
I dig agony scene. Tulsa metal really has its own sound and these guys started it.
Mister S they're back now! What other Tusla bsnds sound like The Agony Scene???
this cover is awesome!
Bring back our glory 😢
@Julsi3 awesome cover..the best i've heard bro!1!
still here 11/16 banger pit
there are aspects of this I like and aspects of TBDM's cover I like. I prefer the screaming here, but some of the heavier instrumentation on TBDM's version would work better than what TAS used.
Cool song, it's the first one I hear from these guys!

@MikyWrita i was referring to you, screamo is a genre, but it's very specific and I can only really think of 1 screamo band...
I think this song is about the agony of cultural alienation. Death brings that feeling into sharp relief, but it haunts some people all their lives - presumably including the lyricist and composer.
this is the best version of this song ever made why doesn't this show up when you type it in?
Out of all the bands that have covered this song, this is my favorite.
awsum
@99inflames
yeah, haven't you seen all those covers?
Rest in peace jay white!
I like The Black Dahlia Murder's version better, it's more creative. But this is so sick, it isn't easy to port The Rolling Stones to deathcore.
sick!!
When I talked to these guys after the show they played in Vancouver,BC with SYL in like 2005 or 2006, the vocalist said he and 1 or 2 others are Christian, and some of their songs definitely have some religious aspects to them.
that's a cool album cover
5 stars and favorit from me :)
bad ass. they should add a break down in the middle or towards the end.
@99inflames
you should check the related videos :p i see 4 covers at first glance
Wow, I had this song years and years ago. So nostalgic.
@dootdoot89 I don't think you can really compare the two. I mean, if I didn't already know the lyrics I wouldn't be able to tell what TBDM were singing. Still a good song though.
Eerm nothing is better than the original dude
as much as i hate covers of newer day bands on classical rock this is fucking awesome
This rules.
@AddoNexusMusic Not sure why you are leaving a comment about The Black Dahlia murder on a song from The Agony Scene, unless you are referring to an earlier comment that I missed..
@taylorshred oh, how right you are
I FINALLY FOUND IT
j'aime toujours autant :D
May 2016 stay filthy
Fuck yeah \m/
fVORIE VERSION
This song is iight.
thank you metal should be faster and harder than the orignel so great job
atleast i can hear what theyre saying. all the haters need to hate on the BLACK DAHLIA MURDER cover. -_-
this covers great. :D
the second best version xD
THIS IS FUCKING SICK
If Corey Taylor sticks with stone sour more I think the lead singer of this band should become the new lead singer of slipknot
@mattymil i haven't seen any metalcover yet xP but don't hesitate to show me some ^^
@HockeyNinja florence and the machine you got the love is unfortunatly being mistaken waaay too much.
i think the response is very relevant
@DISNEYlover140 then u try playing this. BTW if u actually listen to the chorus, i think there might be singing in it 0.o
@schosofgaar typo (time)
70% of the new generation cant tell the difference between metal and scremo
Fucking love it
oh my god this is awsome!!! 10k times better then the original!! :D
@blandman23 yes
most covered song next to popcorn and tainted love
he said "woah this is the good version of the song :]" there you go.
This is not bad I kind of like it good job
@jeffereykaminsky678 You said it man... Fuuuuck wtf is happening to Music?!
@MikyWrita I agree, but it is actually pretty hard to decide with this band, like in this song for instance it is very much metal like, but in some of there originals they do come across kind of screamo like.
I know the feeling. It's like going back to when you first created your facebook.
:s lmao
People who care if a band is Christian or not are hipsters and scene kids. A true music fan. A true metal head cares not for semantics nor genre, just music.
@reggaeambassadorful Because he was trying to find a non-shit version of this song done in metal?
@Metalscavenger not even close yesturday by the beatles is the most coverd song of all time
if it wasnt for the bands of the 60's, 70's and 80's no talent bands like this would have no one to steal from.
@raoulthompson i was stating it as definite-opinionated. while the wording i use does show i would be stating it as fact, i never claimed it as fact but rather as agreement with another poster. how i meant those words to be interpreted is completely different from how they WERE interpreted.
im with these guys.... what the hell did u say boomhower?
