These scenes were tapped during the summer of 1993 when the great floods of 93 severed midwest railroad mainlines resulting in trains being rerouted onto each other's or railroads.
The Amtrak detours on the CNW were always exciting because of the CNW's Automatic Train Stop system. This required lead units that were equipped with the system which in this case was a former CNW E unit. RR
@@EastEndProductionsArchiv-lm3lq It's said that Metra 8'S leading AMTK'S CZ'S in both directions was supposed to be their final assignments before their retirement.
Where do I begin ? How’s bout, thank you for the additional time you’ve spent in order to get these out. Loved 5, 10 is well… better on every level. Let me add the best of the best ( and I know RJJ would agree), is that Fever excursion-their ONLY public excursion I might add. It’s true that these GLW runs were on the shelf with WICT and Golden Arrow excursions, too good to last. SO glad y’all were there, it was right after my move to MEM so I missed it. So thankful for your lens work-! Second, the Explorers run sb on “My Line” will rank only second to their final run down the 5th Sub. That second one was the LAST through train over the 5th, GRB - N.Milw. The Depere to Greenleaf portion was abandoned, and was blocked by a large pile of dirt ! I am so glad I was there with the crew from EEP, for the ones I was.
This one was a lot of work, as you said, but as I was selecting the footage, I kept saying... "Yeah! This needs to go in." The really cool part of all of this is that this only scratches the surface of the crazy stuff we have in the archive! Having you crew with the video team was fantastic. You brought so much to the shoots with your boundless energy! Stay tuned Brother. There is so much more to come. RR
1. "GREAT LAKES WESTERN"? WC ran a couple of those specials & you caught the 1992 trip then send it to Paul Schiner's FAST TRACK series for their Volume 3 SHOOTERS GALLERY. 2. The EXPLORERS excursions of 1990, 1992, & 1993 was featured in. Trains Magazine along with Railfan & Railroad.
Question for those a little older or in the know: When did graffiti become a thing? I was born in 95 and it's been a thing as long as I can remember. But those trains from 93 looked awfully clean.
I have to agree with everyone else I’m liking this format as well. Good job from Southern California.
Thanks. It is more work to edit and produce, but it is worth the extra effort. RR
How many domes on that 3985 excision? I had to go back and count - SIX (6)!!!
Five or ten, awesome clips
Thank you!
Great stuff as usual, Rob
I like this Tuesday format. Nice job!
Thanks!
Enjoyed your video. Especially liked the Metra E8 on the Amtrak detour.

Somewhere on that FRV train is an almost six year old me.
Excellent! RR
@gbwdude and if you could write it today, you would probably still be that six year old kid😎
@remylopez4821 I think I'd wait a year, by then the Milwaukee Road #261 was flying up and down all along the WC then.
