I'm a white dude, and while I agree with this, I point out that in my white collar environment at work, the black gentleman are almost always the best dressed. It's usually the white dudes who wear baggy pleated chinos pooling around their ankles and ill fitting polos combined with black square toed slip on shoes.
He is a good looking and well dressed man who is educated about fashion. In this video, he is demonstrating his knowledge of the construction of well-made shoes . All men can benefit from his advice, why make it appear that him being black is any different than any other race? I skimmed through his videos and he doesn't appear to be trying to solicit advice specifically for black men, so why did you mention it? I.e. Him being black doesn't change anything?
O.G. I love the break down of the differences between the shoes. You make great videos and you educate the viewers at the same time. Bro you’re taking the fashion channel to a higher level. Please never change up your style. 🙏🏾
Really appreciate this one Brother Jeff. Back in the day, my Dad wore Goodyear welts. I always dug the exposed stitching on his shoes. Now , I'm doing the same thing.
great channel, subbed I have Tim Little [stone crazy] and Trickers[ stow boot] and both are goodyear welted, the trickers with something close to a storm welt. Thing is, they're very wide. Personally I think it looks cool but some outfits require a sharper shoe, adopt accordingly. There is so much to learn about shoes, thanks to people like you we're all getting there
I’m digging the different lighting setup in this video Jeff!! Don’t let my profile photo here fool you, I do photography as well and little stuff like lighting stands out to me. Definitely makes you and whatever you’re wearing pop so much more!
Excellent explanation, Jeff. I favor Goodyear welted shoes, specifically Allen Edmonds, but I admire the sleekness of Blake stitched shoes. Congratulations on getting Idrese as a sponsor. Salute!
Gracias hermano, nice and informative video. I typed it in hoping to find answers and your video popped up. Thank you and look forward to more vids. Take care and best of luck brother.
Again a great video from the most practical men's style channel on TH-cam. At size 13A, my buying choices are a selection of Allen Edmunds or a very small selection of Alden.
Nah...u need to look into Meermin (you would be a size 12 in Meermin h Carmina), Carmina, and maybe Magnanni (if you dont mind bologna conststruction, and corrected grain leather)

You could try, but there are two factors. Once removing the sole the shoe may fall apart in your hands, or if you find a specialist they may do it, but would it be worth the price? It would probably cost the same as the cost of the shoe when you first got it. Hope this helps! - Jawad
Thanks bro I appreciate this. The site was very helpful I just design my shoe. Also can you maybe do a video speaking about a great way to find or acquire a good Taylor...
Many companies in the luxury space will try to avoid saying it or use other types of adjectives like "Handstitched", "Welted", "handmade", but most companies will say it.
@@idrese4427 thank you. Starting to up my style now, now that I'm becoming an "empty nester" it's time to shift the focus towards my closest. This channel along with others that Jeff suggested has helped me tremendously. Salute.
How does Goodyear welt compare to stitch down construction? This is more relatable to boots but they can be dress footwear too so that's why I bring it up.
njack1994 If your focus is on longevity then Goodyear is the way to go. Really the only reason you should go for Stitch is if you’re on a budget, but even then at IDRESE we offer Goodyear welt for less cost than many Stitch brands. Nonetheless, check us out and if you decide you want Stitch then shoot us an email support@idrese.com and we can inform our craftsmen on what you want! Hope this helps
Thanks for this video. Very useful to understand differences between the two. Thankfully I chose goodyear welted for all my 4 leather shoes (black oxford, dark brown oxford, double monk and brown Chelsea boot). #Salute
IDRESE, thank you for question. Well after watching this video, it even convince me to stay with goodyear welted shoe. I don’t mind with little bit “heavier and bulkier” appearance as long as it is higher quality and more water resistant. In fact, my chelsea goodyear welted shoes use dainties sole for both dry and wet environment. Pound for pound, comparing both goodyear welted and Blake stitch, it boils down to quality of sole construction and how it stitch with the upper leather part. Personally, I prefer double stitch in a goodyear welted shoe. 👞
Great comparison video. I'm in L.A. and don't find the need to go with a good year welt for weather purposes. Aesthetically the Italians do it for me. Shoe wardrobe is mostly blake stitched.
