Hahaha its taken him to teach 9 to get there. I was looking at some footage from 2yrs ago and oboy it was rough. So I'm sure your lad will get there too. And yes CROWS looks great. Needs tightening to stop it rotating now. A

Amazing detail! The gun, the lights and paint job give it a very realistic look. Very nice job buddy. 🏆🏆

Thanks for noticing bud! There's a lot of time and effort there, and not just once I wondered why I was bothering haha.

I've just got myself the Desert version of this Truck. The first thing that broke was the steering servo. I've ordered a heavy duty servo and hope that will be the problem sorted once fitted. I've only run it around my garden, i haven't even had a chance to run it on any fun terrain.

Yes I think I put a stronger servo in too. I have had an issue with a wheel-side drive shaft snap (got a wheel bound) , and had a mare of a job getting the ifs bolts out. Actual replacement parts aren't too hard to find but I'd suggest you strip the chassis down while it's clean, threadlock and replace with quality bolts (which the oe ones are not).
I have both diffs locked now, and tho it turns like a tanker it has proven very tough and reliable. I think with no diff locks, or just one, you run a greater risk of drive wheels getting bound up - with all four locked it can pull itself out of situations with less stress, to my mind at least. And no dramas since locking them kinda proves it for me.
I think they're great rigs. Stock tyres are decent too, not brilliant but decent and look great.

@@antrc I haven't locked the diffs yet but intend to. I'm going to replace the servo, check it works and then oil the underside of the truck to prevent rust. I already have scrapes under the chassis from just running around my garden. I live near a Beach so it makes sense to oil the underside before running on the sand. I know the sand will stick to the oil but it will be easy to wash off with fresh water. Once all that is done it is time to detail the truck with contemporay signage on the back and some stowage. I think i'll be taking the bumper off and adding a rope like you did. I might take the doors off and add crew and i'll be changing the main weapon to a 50 cal. I don't think i'll go totally "Generation Kill" but close?

Sounds grand. I bottom this thing out all the time and it generally slides over a lot of stuff, a wheel in each corner really helps too. I think the bumper/headlight guard went when my lad smashed it into a kerb and broke the mount. 🙄

A lot of detail in this rig. Is the paint job stock?

Nay, I bought the std green version on cost grounds. Not sure the repainted camo ones are terribly realistic either, in pics they look too contrasty.
So this has been airbrushed with enamel model paints, lacquered and weathered.
Check the playlist, I did a fair bit on all that 👍
