Holy Moly! Just got back from the grocery store real early this morning. As I got out of my car, there was this big beautiful Red Tailed Hawk just sitting in a near tree and watching me. So I went quickly to the house, had to unlock the door, had my D500 and 300mm f4D sitting on the coffee table, and thinking he is just going to flay away. Well well, I was able to get a number of good quality shots while he watched me and then took off. I swear that was a good 3 foot wing span, probably a good 10-12 inches tall. It pays to get up early!!! Cheers!
Wonderful footage of the twin cubs playing in the branches; spectacular. Moved out of bear (and mountain) country this spring so have to live vicariously through your great content. Cheers!
Steve, I met you at the Moose-Wilson wetlands overlook the last week of May. I introduced myself (Bob Philip) and my brother to you when you had asked me about the Moose and the baby moose that were down at the lower level. I was shooting the D850 with the 600mm. It was a thrill meeting you. Watching your vids over the years inspired me to try my hand at wildlife photography and I have not been disappointed with that endeavor. It was a pleasure speaking with you. Thanks for the inspiration. Bob
I really enjoyed your series on your favorites of 2022. I really appreciate your perspectives on what you were looking for and why it's a top pick. Your insights have helped me examine the way I approach my own compositions. Thank you for making me a better photographer! Keep the videos coming!
Great stuff Steve! Amazing photography! I live in a mountain apartment complex, and I can hear owls late at night but have not been able to find them ,,, the story continues ...
To be blunt, work sucks today! Until..the Steve Mattheis interlude. Thanks!!!! I I’ll be in that neck of the woods next month this time. I’m a bit spoiled with being able to walk the woods of the Sierra alone. After returning home last year I was hiking near Mono Lake for an hour when I realized I did not need to be on alert. What a relief, no grizzlies here.
Only hours away from starting our 2 week trip to your area. If I’m truly lucky, maybe I’ll find your fleeting white owl….I’d settle for a cub shot any day!
Another question-- I'm looking for the Lazuli Bunting-- I'll be in the Tetons tomorrow * iv yet to see even 1 lol. Iv been everywhere looking for em --- been at the Wind Rivers and not seen em there either. It's bugging me why I have not seen even one
Great video (you're very talented, and I'm addicted to your channel)! Quick question for you (no problem if you don't have time to, or don't want to answer)... if I am getting into wildlife photography, and am going to purchase the Nikon D850, and can only afford one zoom lens, would you recommend the Nikon 200 - 500 f/5.6, or the Sigma 150 - 600 f/5-6.3?
@@JaminTaylor I went with the Nikon 200 - 500. Thanks for the advice. This is my first full frame camera (I bought a Sony RX10 IV earlier this year to take hiking with me, but quickly realized I wanted something better for wildlife), and I'm looking forward to taking this out into the Colorado Rockies. Also, thanks Steve for the inspiration. Keep up the great videos!
Those bears!!! We're heading to the Tetons for our first time in a couple of weeks - do you drive along Teton Park Road to find cool animals or Hwy 26/191? Or do you do it as a loop?
Baby bears really put a smile on my face!😄thanks!❤

Great footage, was in Jackson hole week of May 10. And boy do I miss it ! Thanks again for the great content Steve.
The bear videos were totally worth the time...thanks.
Great session with the Cubs! Just like little children at the playground.
Thanks for sharing Steve! It was enjoying watching the cubs play.
Sucks about the owl but man those cubs are so cute. Wonderful job, Steve, love seeing you out in your element.

Thank you Steve for sharing what was a magical experience. My heart is singing watching the innocence of the bear cubs.

Ha!👍
Ha. I was going to ask if you had bear spray. Nice video!
Nice. Still love the reality of it all.
Nice catch with the cubs. I had no idea they would climb out on branches like that.
I’ll take a pair of 🐻 cubs playing tag any day. Too bad about the owl but maybe tomorrow. Enjoyed it thoroughly.
Always hike with a slower friend in bear country
Lovely
Cool video,felt like I was there,👍
Bear cubs are so fun to watch. I could watch them all day. Thanks for sharing the great footage Steve.

Update us on the Teton situation-- is it flooding over there ?
No flooding down here 👍
Such a privilege to see these cubs through your lens ❤️. I was hoping you carry bear spray….have you ever had to use it?
Never used it, except for practice…
Probably a fox hunting for the family.
Great video again Steve, thanks for the journey. Which is your main camera now, A1 or Z9? Cheers Ian (UK)
Two Z9s 👍
❤❤❤🎉❤❤❤😊😊😊😢❤❤❤ animals are beautiful

@@timnichols3795 awesome! You won’t regret it. I still use my 200-500 fairly often.
All I saw for the most part was a selfie.
