Hello, I am a freshman in undergrad currently. I have two questions. The first question is: Would it be better to get some direct patient care experience/hours being an EMT or a phlebotomist? The second question is: How many AA programs do you recommend applying to? p.s. Great video, it was very helpful
Im glad you enjoyed the video! First question: honestly, either one will have benefits. We have both a former phlebotomist and a former EMT in my class currently. If I *had* to pick, I would go for EMT because that would give a head start in the realm of pharmacology, BLS, ACLS, and things of that nature. Second question: in total I applied to 5 programs. The competition isn’t going away, but I was able to get accepted on my first application season. My metric was I’ll apply to the programs I truly want to go to first, then if those didn’t work out I did my tier 2 choices. I believe I went into some more detail about this during my “how I got in” video. Feel free to ask more questions!!
Also make sure you know the metrics for programs like what their average accepted GPA is and such! Should be able to find those online to know if you’re competitive
@@MyCAAJourney Thank you for taking the time to respond. I think I will go the EMT route then! Also, I really appreciate you giving us insight on becoming a CAA. And good luck on your schooling; what you are doing is amazing.
Thank you, i greatly appreciate it. The backlog of videos I’ve been recording will start uploading soon! So you’ll be able to get an actual glimpse into what my life is like through the program rather than one big retrospective video :)
Thanks for the info!
