Man I’ve never known anyone else who remembers and/or still uses penetrators. Only stopped using my 28g ones a month or so ago as I’ve moved on to Joe Cullens. Epic darts.
As is reflected in the comments: dart barrel weight is subjective; you just have to experiment. I will say that if you’re just starting out and feel confused on where to start…try a 22g and work up or down depending on if your darts seem to drop low on the board or seem to land too high all the time from where you are aiming. Darts are, unfortunately, a thing that takes a lot of trial and error to find what works best for you; it took me almost a bloody year to find a setup that I liked and stuck with for awhile (I still switch up my stems and flights here and there).
Ive heard this before (After i bought a set of 22g dobey gen 1's) and I've found that lighter i have more control. I can throw a fraction harder and be more free if that makes sense. I'm going to try heavier than my usual (23g) maybe go for 25/26g to see the difference. Interesting though. I cant seem to find a dart i really like.
I have sets in 23g and 25g and after some practise it makes no difference what weight I’m using flights and stems is what you need to get right then it’s just down to practise and focus
Good experiment mate. Some really bad lies & angles in the board, cause of the exceptional long points(not everyone is Littler). My advice stay with the 26g and shorten your point to 30-33mm. Try this experiment again and see what happens 👍🎯🎯👍
Im having the same issue rn! Always used 30-32 mm Points (exposed lenght) and struggled so hard with the 35mm Swiss Points. Apart from the darts looking way cooler with long points and grouping is easier, it is at least for me way harder to throw in a good rhythm like before. Its like i have to concentrate extra hard on every throw. Center of mass changed, so i had to readjust my grip. 3-5mm can make such a difference, almost slowed down my dart. My darts land upright even with long points, but i‘ll probably go back to 30mm swiss points for now.
When i first started playing in January i had 2sets of darts 26g and 23g and with using the same throw the 23g felt so weak and the darts alwys fell short so 26 g were my choice 4 months later i then tried the 23g again and to my surprise they were no longer falling short and i now feel more comfortable with a lighter dart Not sure why haha🤷😂
Hi Sam, can't remember how I stumbled across your channel, and all the best with Q-School quest. I just wanted to point one thing out about this video, is that you played 45 or above to score, and hit 21 a few times, and proceeded to throw at 20's. Assuming your are following the average darts practice advice of warming up on Bull's before practice , you should have thrown them 20's at bull (hoping for 25!). Situational awareness and rules of the type of game you are playing; are there for you to know what you can and can't do. By all means not trying to have a dig at you , but darts is argubaly slightly more in favour of mentality/strategy thank pure skill at landing a target (at your current level!)
Hey mate! Thanks for the comment. Although I do agree with the situational awareness. I wanted to play the leg like it would have been played in a proper match. I get what you’re saying but that’s almost a cheat code for the game. I try to make everything as close to a match scenario as possible. Thanks again though, and thanks for watching 🤝🏻
@@Sam_brack I wouldn't call it a cheat code per se, there will be situations in your matches when you end up between 195 and 220 in a leg, with one dart in hand only 25 or bull is going to get you on a finish. The goal of the 501 part of your leg was to get from 501 to 0 in as short a way as possible, but not throwing at the bull cost you 18 darts (due to the 45 requirement). As you'll know from ADC yourself, other players can a leg in that many darts. Arguably the better cheat code would be aiming at 19's, with two single 19's and 7 gettinng you the 45. Enjoying the series at the moment anyway, and will be tuning in!
@@WatershipAlan nothing wrong with that mate, you may think people are laughing or making fun of you but we’re all there to play and have fun at the end of the day.
I've been playing for 20 years with 30g Penetrator darts with 38mm piont and they have served me well.

@@TedBarton91I've lost count the number of 180's I've hit with my 30g darts must be over 200.

Absolutely mate! 100% agree
I actually love using my Winmau Mark Webster 19g darts. Have had them for 5 years now while playing darts on and off.
They sound great 👍🏼

Gary Andersons phase 6 style darts might do a Job. Adam hunt has a cheaper alternative
Or even RD lethal magics or Dennis Priestley.
Might have just got some new darts 👀

That 3rd dart pull 😅 i have the same issue lately
What app are you using for the scoring and the game?
You’ll find it on ‘Godartspro’ 👍🏼

i shit you not i bought some CRUX 2.0's yesterday LMAO
you’re thinking too much into it it’s literally only you and the dartboard that’s it.
you'd be very surprised mate
