    Anyone with at least 2 brain cells can see that you take pride in your work and even have proof in this video that if you aren't 100% certain about something, you will say you don't know. I appreciate the effort that you put in and all of the knowledge that you share. Keep it up, Pete! You are real good at doing stuff 👏

    Another excellent video from Pete, covering all the bases to seal and clamp cylinder heads! The term torque is used as a catch all for fastener tightening but it is just a means to an end. The ultimate goal of the fastener is the development of clamp load which is final result of the rotational energy applied. A simple torque spec is good enough for standard care fasteners where stretching/yielding the fastener is not necessary but for the critical joints like heads, rods, mains and flywheel/flex plate you will want to take full advantage of the mechanical properties of the fastener. In these cases a torque + angle spec is used to minimize the clamp load variation resulting from friction coefficient changes! By implementing a low threshold torque and then turning the fastener a predetermined number of degrees, influence of the friction variation between the under head bearing area of the fastener and the thread interface is minimized. The amount of clamp load developed is thus controlled by the material properties of the fastener and the thread geometry because every degree of rotation equates to the amount of tension the fastener is under!

    Hello Pete! I'm still running your Diablo Tune and appreciate all the work you helped me with over 15 years ago. Its been around 15 years and I'm still boosting my higher compression engine! lol
    I hate trash talk but know nothing about that situation. But that being said....I was dealing with you way back before HED and in my opinion you were very knowledgeable and I never had any complaints, only praises! As a matter of fact, KM was learning from you when i first met him so IMO he should be thankful cause I know how much you helped him! Any way i wish you were still around here but I'm glad your doing well in Mooresville! By the way, I'm in the market for an IRON EAGLE 8.2 if you have one or find one. I want to buy or build a short block. Keep up the good work! Good Luck!

    Pete i knew right off the bat who you was going to talk about because i live close to your old shop & still street race at the county line close to that shop.Now TKM has all that high dollar equipment Vs your little shop & your shop was FIRST to the 3s with a non promod car & setting & holding other records in other classes.That just goes to show you it's not the size of the shop it's the knowledge of the shop. H.E.D to the front #Realgoodatdoingstuff #Realgoodatsettingrecords #Littleshopthatcan
    PS @Tkm's Janitor
    no im not knocking TKM because i don't know any of y'all personally but i do know pete personally way back when he was working in a little garage building the engine in my buddy's fox body street car that ran 5.70s

    many years ago I lived in Black Mountain NC and tuned Saabs .... I had at the time competitors who would lie or twist the truth to make me look bad... I say that to say I know what its like to deal with that personally and it sucks :-( Im sorry you have this kind of crap do deal with. thanks for sharing your knowledge. Live with Honor and integrity.. even when others do not!

    Hey Pete, the 1st MLS head gasket I recall was when I was an apprentice in the late 70's..
    That was on a 71 series GM 2/ diesel, and then plenty of other diesels since...

    From a factory stock auto maker's standpoint, it was the Japanese who first started using the MLS gaskets with smoother Ra finishes on FACTORY STOCK engines. Racers/racing shops may have been using them shortly before that, I really don't know. But the Japanese were the first to develop & use MLS gaskets from a mass production standpoint, and it soon caught on everywhere else.

    when he said fail proof head gaskets... reminded me of a guy I worked with long ago!
    he did a head job on a caravan went to test fire it and it water locked lmfao he had the whole
    thing reassembled and forgot the head gaskets!!! I've seen a lot of stupid shit over the years
    but that right there takes the cake!!!

      Some builders and I'm not saying who try to put rings in at lower hp levels when guys need to be losing gaskets and learning to tune instead of changing slugs. My comment isn't pointed at Pete or Kevin but someone else I see quite often recommended and never seen his engines compete on any level.

    Similarly, I am capable of building heightened performance street/strip motorcycle engines as well as race only stuff for the people who can't do it for themselves, and the one consistent unfortunate part of the business I have found usually seems to be the customer. Irony just kills me, man. Glad to see you clearing your name. Keep up the great work, Pete.

    I'm sorry to hear that someone is making up falsehoods about your work. I've had to defend folks and be defended from folks associating me with some made up crap with no evidence. Thanks for the info on the head gaskets. I've never used the cut ring gaskets and I might look at them. I will tell you that my wastegates got stuck one time at the track and I them lose water at about 50PSI. If not for the fuse built into the gasket and me feeling that I had a HUGE jump in power and getting out of it I would've been rebuilding an engine and 2 Turbo's also.

    Hope i'm not jenxing myself, I destroked a 454 to 427 and used off the shelf forged LS7 pistons with final comp ratio around 7-1 and hit it with 16lbs from Dyers 8/71, I used new Edelbrock heads with block decking with no o-ring, i cannot remember if gaskets were Cometic or MrGasket. I do remember they were white, Engine is in street car and not ever had problem squeezing gasket out.

    Washer spin is a big contribution to loss in torque which causes the operator to over stretch studs. Not to mention it tears up the spotface.

      In time you all will be like so many other companies that have helped him, forgotten and never mentioned again on his channel. Whatever company he currently uses, or being sponsored by, is the best. Until something goes wrong, that he more than likely fucked up due to the lack of knowledge on his part. I’m not referring to his “crew”.

    • @danielupchurch6024
      @danielupchurch6024 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Would u rep the company that is selling a similar product as the one ur sponsor is providing u. Sponsors change over time for whatever the reason. If u want to keep ur sponsorships, they u rep them and not there competition. Its all part of the game. No ones perfect, but honestly John Doc and his entire crew are stand up guys. Just because u dont agree with what he runs, or reps doesnt mean he is wrong or that u are right. As with alot of products out there, they are all great products and just a Preference type of thing.

    • @danielupchurch6024
      @danielupchurch6024 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      U cant talk bad on someone for endorsing the products they use or like. And any racer that has been at it long enough had had several companies they have worked with over the years that they no long endorse or use.

      @@precisiondiesel225umm duh 🙄 that's how a sponsorship deal works bud. . can't talk ill of a product your repping lmao. And whoever steps up and sponsors you with the best ish overall deal is who common sense is going to have anybody with any business mind work with.... And he's been working with tkm forever they are some of the best in the business for sure just with the accomplishments that I can name off my head to begin with from stock to promod they do it all ..

    Top Fuel Hoops are just Fire Rings that they have been using in Diesel engines for a long time mostly in the tractor pulling diesels now they are used on all sorts of boosted engines. I have heard of TKM and heard good and bad about them and I think if a they got to talk shit about another company without 100% knowing the facts first just shows what kind of people they are and I have no respect for people like that.
