I grew up watching Amarillo Wrestling, they had it in back KFDA studio, Small ring, barely fit on bleachers and some time the fights would break out in the bleachers. I talk to the station manger Walt Harris of KFDA, and said they still had the old wrestling shows. I need to get in touch with Walt again and see if we can get them on TH-cam for all the great wrestling fans to see.
Everyone should read his book "Terry Funk: More than Just Hardcore." It's like he's talking to you all about his life and the great stories that go with his long career. His instincts were always the best. You watch his matches and besides the great wrestling, he does things with his face and body language that just makes you believe he's going mental during a match. His style is so unique.
I grew up in NY. we got some wrestling starting in the mid 70's from down south, but we never got the bloody knock down drag out stuff that we had to read about in the wrestling magazines. Terry & Dory Funk were ALWAYS in those magazines. We did get to see alot of the bootlegs of those matches though. 6 months or a year later. The rivalries back then lasted for years so it was stil fresh, even a year later. Thanks for the memories Gordy bros.
In 1975 I seen my first riot and it was Terry's fault and also the coolest thing ever. I was 15 yrs old. It was at Eddie Graham Sport Stadium in Orlando, Fl. Dusty had 10 near falls when the referee turned his back and Terry hit Dusty with something he pulled from tights and pinned him. For about 3 second's you could hear a cricket fart. Then the place exploded. Chairs, fist's, beverages went flying. I had a cop shove me because he got hit with a cup of beer even though it came from behind me. My brother in law who took my friend and me to the matches was walking past the ring when it happened heard Teryy say, Dusty, get your ass up. They are going to kill me. Dusty fought Terry all the way back to dressing room. Here it is 43 years later and still one of my favorite memories. Terry in the ring or on the mic was gold.

Absoulute legend him and dory had great matches in ajpw I recently watched the funks vs brody and snuka one of the best tag team matches ever its really amazing the reception the funks would get in japan the fans would clapping and roaring when that music hit
