- The word Laadki is a fond way of addressing a daughter. In this brand new composition by Sachin-Jigar, they capture a beautiful conversation between a Father and his daughter. This song always makes me cry, I don't have a sister but this song and few other things made me realize that it's a very big thing for a girl to marry and leave the house where she was born, where she has all the memories and specially people with whom she used to live, laugh, cry, everything! Not just that but for the parents as well, they knew from the very first day she born that she will be marrying someone and will leave them but still LOVING HER MORE THAN ANYTHING, and when this day comes, maybe I can't feel their heart and emotions but I can understand what they must be going through! It's really important as a boy that we give her all she deserves, we should not make her feel that "kash woh uske ghar hoti" both should be her home, kabhi uski maarzi chal bhi jaaye, zidd kar bhi le, toh karne do, uske papa ne puri ki thi, kal tum papa banoge tum bhi karoge, fir uski zidd kyu nahi? My mom always drew inspiration from real people, things and stories. This reminded me of one of those bed time stories that she used to whisper while I'd try to fall asleep. This one story was about a small town girl who aspired to be so many things but she couldn't due to lack of resource and limited exposure. She goes on to find a lot of peace and happiness when his prince charming comes along one day almost to sound like he rescued her. They moved on in life together to settle at this almost utopian riverside town. The news of her expected first-a baby girl-lifted her spirits so much as she could finally see her daughter living the dream and be whoever she wants that she couldn't be. She used to end the story here telling me that it is time for me to sleep. Years later, I went on to discover that the girl in the story was my mom and the baby girl she spoke of couldn't survive the birth. She lost who was supposed to become my elder sister. This song made me realize how some losses can never be forgotten, I know that she misses her even today and I must comfort her.

What happened to her?
My dad passed away 4 years ago & I remember singing this song to him the day before he passed away. He thought it was weird I was singing a song that’s not in our language and couldn’t understand, but I was in choir for many years and appreciated music from all over the world. I told him I’d explain to him the next day what the lyrics meant but never got the chance to 😢

I have a Beautiful Daughter. She is just 3 Years old. When she was just 10 days old, I left her at Home town with my wife and came to Bangalore for my job. Since my job is transferable in nature, from last 3 years I hv missed her total childhood. My wife too also a Banker. After listening this song now I am Feeling selfish, for my own interest I left her when she was so little. Every 2 or 3 months when I m going to home town - then I met with her, play with her. Hope in 2021 - I'll get transfer and stay with her... ❤️
