Command + Belief + Responsibility is a knock out combo, also self-assurance in the top. Adaptability, Ideation, Input, Belief, Intellection, Deliberative, Learner, Achiever, Responsibility, Command + Self-Assurance #15. My parents couldn't stop it even with massive abuse
This is one of the best conversation on Command theme so far. I can relate with it in many aspects. My top 5 strengths are Deliberative, Analytical, Command, Intellection and Competition. Strategic and Futuristic rank 6th and 7th surprisingly. In my adolescence I used to think why people get intimidated by me and why people are not vocal about their opinions like me. I could talk to senior people both at work place or otherwise without feeling threatened by their position. This is unusual for women in our society. After taking Gallup's strength finder 2.0 test last year, the Command theme resonated with my past experiences. Surprisingly, when I took the 'VIA Survey of Character Strengths', my top strength was 'bravery'. I think this further confirms the characteristics of Command theme. I have been often described as 'strong', 'brave', not afraid to confront, not afraid to voice my opinion, argumentative, etc. The most common thing I used to hear was 'bossy' :( . But I have worked on that so that I don't end up 'mowing down' weaker voices without realizing. I make efforts to not come across as overbearing and try to be more accommodating when taking inputs from others. My 'bossiness' is not intentional, but apparently I come across like that without even realizing it. So I had to make conscious effort in improving how I come across as I have often been misunderstood. I am specially attentive to women and children as they are mostly shy or in-confident or not 'heard'. My Deliberative theme had made things even more difficult for me to adapt because I don't open up or trust people easily. I take time to make decisions. But once I have considered all aspects of a decision (Analytical strength), I don't budge. One has to find something really convincing to present to change my mind. I think the rarity of the Command theme makes it vulnerable to be misunderstood more often as people don't come across people with this theme in their day to day life. So, I feel people who have this theme often have to adapt themselves in certain ways so as to not hurt others without intending to.
Thank you for the insight!!! It makes total sense and has worked very well and not so well for me. I have Command as #3. I feel it is very misunderstood and even sometimes envied, ESP by those who really want to lead or be seen as a leader. 1.Activator 2.Ideation 3. Command 4. Adaptability 5. Resolution
Thanks so much for this. I really enjoyed the majority of your presentation...I believe Command is often misunderstood. Another aspect to consider is risk...we command folks take risks, both emotional and physical. I encourage you to continue to focus on the positive aspects of this trait. (Fighter? Hitler? Really? How about Harriet Tubman?) I very much appreciated when you discussed how command is happy to follow a good leader; I think that's often forgotten. (Strategic, Ideation, Command, Communication, Self-Assurance)
You guys talk about refining command and that it needs to be handled well. Any ideas how a person that was never taught to handle it well can exercise it as a strength? {You mentioned trying to add in other strengths to support it, but I thought these were things that we can't really strum up as much as exercise. It's either high on our list or low on our list. Can you speak to that?}
It had not even occured to me that anyone could perceive having command as not SUPER COOL until you guys said there's some negativity towards it XD Myself I've got it 2nd and I'm super thrilled about it 😂 like, what, isn't being decisive and born to lead a great thing? And on top of that unique cuz there's little of us! 😂 My top 5: 1. Relator 2. Command 3. Significance 4. Activator 5. Communication ❤ Thanks a lot for the video!
I'll be honest when I heard it was rare and do to the fact that it's my number 1 theme this video made me feel very good lol
