At almost-26, I've decided to finally pursue teaching, which has been my "dream career" since second grade, and my advice from almost every teacher I know is NOT to go into it right now! I'm like, how am I potentially going to be in a classroom across the hall from you knowing you told me not to go into the profession!? I've heard so few people talk positively about it, and part of it is, I believe, due to the negativity that spreads so easily on social media. I'm so glad to see Bailey, as well as other teachers here on TH-cam, talk about the positives.
One idea for you lower readers: when you need to pull your lowest readers, you could say something like "I'm going to pick five students to read with me" then choose your lowest three plus two more. Rotate the other two and it makes it a fun reward for the others to read with you.

This is so true! It’s really sad because jobs that aren’t 9-5 “normal” jobs have their own issues too! At the end of the day work is work and it’s good to balance the positives and negatives
I feel you about the buses. I'm at a charter school and the busing in our area does the bussing for at least 5 schools and we are the last school on their list so dismissal starts at 3:25 and often we still are waiting for buses at 4:30. Thankfully we have a couple teachers who stay and the rest can go home at 4 but it can be a struggle on some days
New to your channel, thanks for sharing about how you love your job as a teacher and not letting the negative talk about teaching bring you down. As I am working towards my degree in elementary education those negative things have made me question if I still want to proceed under all that stress they talk about, but I so love helping and teaching children new things. I too love listening to Christian music while I am studying, helps keep me focused.

A video suggestion! Could you do a video for substitutes? I’m substituting and am studying to become a teacher at WGU and just wanted to know any DOS and DONTS. What a sub might do that you like vs what a sub might do that you don’t like or agree with. It would be greatly appreciated because I always think to myself the teachers probably never want me to sub for them again (even though I know they’re not thinking that. I just overthink too much) 😂 Just some examples to help me be a better substitute and have better chance at jobs!

Not sure if your into teas but a good one i really enjoy is chamomile tea with your favorite milk and mix in some honey promise you it's a keeper and you have something warm and no bad crash after

Colleagues are leaving my profession in staggering numbers, but I'm still showing up for my shifts, doing the best I can with overwhelming levels of stress. Bailey, change has to start with us. If we don't want to the future of education and healthcare to go down the wrong path, our attitudes and examples can really help support and encourage our future educators and nurses. Trust me, I get it, but we can do better, because I want a better future.
What reading curriculum do you have? McGraw Hill has a website that has the stories on audio. You could have your low readers listen to the audio on the website. Or you could prerecorded it.
Yes! You did learn to work the mouse with your right hand when you were little! I remember a left-handed friend of mine complaining when they kept making her use her right hand for the mouse.
Can you please do a video on your wardrobe regulations and cosmetic regulations. I’m currently in the navy but am planning on being a teacher and I have a tattoo on my forearm is that acceptable? And like nose piercings? Or colored hair? Also you said your pants are like leggings. Are you allowed to wear leggings? I’m also concerned about tops I would be allowed to wear because I have quite a large chest. If you could answer this or make a video that would be fantastic thank you!
It really depends on the district and school you teach in! I feel like most districts are fine with tattoos, piercings may be hit or miss. I’m not really sure! As far as jeans, I know a lot of schools they can only wear jeans on Fridays but at my school we wear them whenever!
Yes to worship music before class starts. I listen to Cleo Sol album Mother it’s a subtle gospel album where no one can tell she’s devout Christian when I play her.🥰

Okay, so my daughter is also left-handed. She used to use a mouse at home with her left hand. When she started kindergarten, I randomly noticed that she was all of a sudden using her right hand for the mouse at home. It actually just showed up on my FB memories the other day. She is in 5th grade now. I think she just had to adapt because the computers were set up for right-handed students.
I had Covid about the same time as you. I would say the exhaustion is a symptom, I literally slept for 3 days. And then was very blah. It’s been two weeks and yesterday was the first day that I felt 100% back to normal and got a lot of stuff done s so much stuff done that I exhausted my body. But I had so much stuff to do and I felt amazing to accomplish it all!

Also my sister is a substitute teacher in Mississippi and she said she isn’t allowed to wear jeans..? Is your school like that too?
