Bought my first carbon road bike 11 months ago and still use flat pedals. I use the basketball shoe Nike Precision 6 (also a basketball fan). It has a stiff, grippy and wide sole so perfect for flats. I wouldnt use regular running trainers on a 2h+ bike ride due to the sole not being stiff enough. Own a cheap set of spd-sl pedals and shoes but have yet to set it up. Happy with my basketball and flat setup and still output 200-300watts. Benefits faster acceleration at traffic lights and able to walk around with ease.
😂 I wasn’t sure what pedals to get so got some flats until I figure it out. The GCN videos about flats vs clips has me wondering if it’s worth it though
@@GrxntYT clipless pedals are definitely worth it, especially if you've spent this much on a bike. Shimano 105's are a very solid recommendation, they'll last you a very long time.
@@GrxntYT It is not even a debate, nobody is using flat pedals on race bike :) Clip-in ones are so much better. Only downside is that you have to get used to it, so you don't crash on stop lights or when clipping in. (it is pretty embarrassing when u get a new bike, and then fall over on some hill because u came to stop or when just trying to stop somewhere and can't unclip, been there, done that :D - when u get clip-ins make sure you lower the clip tension when starting )
Mega bike mate, mine is due mid November the ultegra di2 model. 3 this i hoe you change 1. Take off the dork disk 2. take seat post out and put carbon paste on post instead of in the hole 3. Level the saddle or tilt down 1°-2° NICE vid tho❤
My god, never flat pedals on an aeroad. If you arent comfortable yet for road pedals, go with mtb clipless pedals instead. Easier to learn how to clip in and out of, plus easier to walk in - shoewise

A carbon road bike shouldn't be sold to anyone using flat pedals....
I cried a little when I saw the flat pedals....

@@GrxntYT The answer is pretty straightforward. What pedals are they using? So that is the answer 😌. Once you use clips, you never go back
