This quilt has been on my to do list for soooo long, and now I’m about to start. Have a heap of bright scrappy fabrics in my stash and have just bought a few plains. Rewatching your instructions has been a joy, can’t wait to start cutting and piecing tomorrow. Thank you Stuart.
Stuart, it is the middle of the night and I can't sleep. I enjoyed your video very much. The quilt in this video is just GORGEOUS, truly a thing of beauty! I just LOBE how it is all different colors but it is so cohesive. I also like how you explained your wavy lines quilting technique. I have never been one for stitching in the ditch. I aggree, straight lines are difficult, at least for me. Thank you so much for the video. I am very interested in the book!
Love this style of quilting. Great project to do whilst in lockdown. Thank you Stuart for yet another great project. Love your voice, just want to keep listening all day long 👍🙂
Such a shame he doesn’t use this ‘Lovely Voice’ when speaking to retail staff. Witnessed him myself arguing with retail staff in one of my local stores, very aggressively and very arrogant. Pity really.
Thank you for your video! I have collected a lot of shirts, I think they are perfect for this project! And the quilting is also a very good idea! Greetings from Germany 😸🐈🐾
Hi. I like your clear and simple explanation. I've subscribed . I am new to quilting and would have loved to see the back side of the beautiful quilt. In all the videos I have seen on TH-cam, no one EVER shows the back side of their quilt. Why is that? Would appreciate a quick video on how it looks like before and after. Thank you.
I'm so glad I found you. Watched a few minutes, paused got my layer cake together. I put together 3 blocks, 8.5 onto another quilt trimmed down to 8 inches. Beautiful
Happy Friday Stuart😃 such beautiful fabric colors. I just love pink. Thank you for taking the time to bring smiles on our faces with your creativity and soothing voice whilst we're in shut in. Your GREATLY APPRECIATED 🙌! PEACE, LOVE, AND BLESSINGS 💞 SHALOM 😍
An awesome idea to use up some stash. Love all your tips along the process. Thank you for taking the time to make these videos. Look forward to many more 👍👍
I’m thrilled with your easy video. I have a stack of 10” squares from scrappy fabric and I’m going To make this for project Linus. I’m trying to finally use up scraps in various ways so it’s not boring. My son Lives In St. Louis Missouri so after the new year he’ll be getting one. He’ll love it.
I’ve been wanting to make a St Louis 16 patch and you have shown the easiest way so far. Thank you. Just found your video and subscribed. Maureen from central Pennsylvania USA
I don’t know why you were up next in my que. I am happy you were. I love quilting and am always looking for new faces on you tube. You are my new face. 💕
Thank goodness you're back! I was worried. Thank you for the great ideas in this one. I really love doing screp quilts and still have plenty having made a huge pile of 10 inch squares with strips of varying width sewn on the diagonal. Now for the bigger bits.
Hi just trying to get my stash used up a bit while in lockdown ,and doing some UFO things .Happy to try this to use more fabric used will pretend I was at the tutorial you were coming to do in Dundee in the coming weeks .Looking forward to seeing more of your projects .Love doing this kind of quilting don't have to follow the lines too much I like to use variegated thread on my quilts . Will have to try and get your book 😁
Always look forward to viewing your video’s. Your explanations are “spot on” and very informative. Thank you for taking the time and effort to make and post them. Best wishes from the great State of Oklahoma in The USA. I highly recommend other viewers Subscribe to your channel. They will be happy they did.
So happy I came across your channel. I am a pink person and was thinking I should just sew them all together in squares, instead of some fancy pattern. Appreciate the tips! Only thing that bothered me is your sewing machine was in the way, making it hard to see what you were doing. Look forward to another tutorial.
I am making face masks.(Isn't everyone who sews?) Have lots of scraps so this is a great project. While I am cutting out masks I will cut out these strips as well. Thanks for a great tutorial, Stuart.
If you wanted a bigger quilt you could add sashing between each block & a border all round it.Plus you could QAYG each row & join together after all quilted. Are you going to be watching g the GBSB?
Hi Stuart I have just found your channel. I would be able to make a scrappy quilt with my stash. But if I make a big quilt it costs an arm and a leg to send it to the long arm quilters to finish it! 😭
Ouch Stuart. Nails on a chalkboard with the fingernail on the fabric. LOL I had to plug my ears and cringe. Now we won't be doing that again will we? LOL that last sentence of mine I did in my English accent. You would have enjoyed it LMAO
Nancy Miller, not everyone is so sensitive to those sounds. Perhaps a small roller or clean brayer would work better for you. I have a clean wallpaper seam roller I use.
Hi Stuart. I’ve had an accuquilt go for quite a while. But I’ve only used it a few times. Since I’ve found your channel about a week ago, I started getting interested in it. So I started cutting out a bunch of scraps. Then I decided to make a quilt that used my 5 inch square die. The problem is they don’t turn out to be a perfect 5 inch every time. I measured the die, and of course it is right, but I can’t figure out why they’re not coming out perfectly. Any ideas what I’m doing wrong?
Jo Ann Bishop It might be that your fabric isn’t ready for cutting. Did you wash it? Is it wrinkled even if it’s “just” wrinkles from the bolt. Those crinkled edges and crooked folds, too! I usually don’t have a problem with fresh from the quilt store fabric, but if it’s from my stash, I use a little spray starch to give the fabric more body and revive it from months (years) of sitting on a shelf. I really like the AccuQuilt system. I use the strip and the 2 ½ “ square dies the most, but have played with a Block On Board die. Seems like you get more cutting for your dollar when all of your shapes are on one or two dies!
If you listen to the video when the text pops up Stuart says, “I’ve got my machine set at a 1/4” seam allowance, and I’m going to sew down this long edge.”

Love this scrappy project! Thank you for showing the quilting part!
I've been making a quilt using this method with leftover jelly roll strips, looking good so far... Thanks for all your inspirational ideas x

This would be a fun quilt to make over time, a block or two with fabrics from each of our projects, save a box until you have enough to assemble.
Thats what I do too.

Love love your pattern & instruction. I’m looking at Elba machines. What do you have? 💜💫
Beautiful Quilt with just those little blocks, but I always wind up with puckers.....makes me angry.....LOL
I am making face masks.(Isn't everyone who sews?) Have lots of scraps so this is a great project. While I am cutting out masks I will cut out these strips as well. Thanks for a great tutorial, Stuart.

Do u use the machine u have on screen ‘elna’ to actually quilt with?
I’d love to see how u achieve the quilting on a domestic machine 🙏🏼
❤️🌈🐻
love it
I’m a complete beginner as far patch works goes what would you recommend as a starter piece thank you

Debra Stallings I’m using unwashed batiks, and I iron it first so there are no wrinkles. ?
Have you quit making quilt videos?
Lovely blue eyes
I presume the fabrics all need to be the same weight, type etc??
Very Pretty
The text on screen says 1.25" seam allowance - yikes! ;-)
That’s a quarter of an inch lol
m0ther0ne It’s an inch and a quarter. A quarter inch is 0.25”.
If you listen to the video when the text pops up Stuart says, “I’ve got my machine set at a 1/4” seam allowance, and I’m going to sew down this long edge.”
m0ther0ne Yes, it’s just the text on screen that’s different
