To be honest, it is too weak in terms of illuminance for an outdoor chain of lights, or even though the chain of lights is on, it hardly illuminates the surroundings at all. It only makes sense if additional lighting is installed so that you don't trip over your own feet in the dark. I think that's also the reason why you included a separate spotlight in your promotional video? (seen at 3:44 ) Will a Festoon come out at some point with a significantly higher brightness? It feels like you just packed the previous Twinkly light chain LEDs into a new housing. Due to the small number of lights at Festoon, the whole chain of lights is not exactly bright enough.
Hi … it’s not a promotional video, it’s a review. These are decorative lights, they are not designed as a way of illuminating the surroundings any more than I use my Christmas tree lights to light my sitting room. The reason the light is on at 3:44 is just because that is where I had been filming a piece to camera just before.
Lovely! How do the twinkley’s connect? I have seen other festoons that have T or Y connectors. Does one end cave a male and the other a female? It would be great to add a few in a line.
Twinkly says on its website that it sells extension packs (www.twinkly.com/products/festoon-lights-starter-pack/). Not sure if that is still true as I struggled to find outlets selling them when I googled 'twinkly festoon extension pack'. The alternative is to run two sets and control them as one with the app (that's what I have done).
Great review! Could I ask, do you know if there is there a dedicated warm white LED (RGBWW), white (RGBW) or only colour creating white by blending colours (RGB). In any case, what is the quality of the warm white?
Yeah, it's not cheap, but it is something you can build up over time (I did). And there are other, cheaper lights available which you could use to create something similar, just without some of the added functionality of the Twinkly kit.
Excellent presentation. I thought I was watching a CNET review for a second there.
Wow, thank you. I might give them a ring and tell them you sent me!

This is a 1M subscriber quality video…
