Cooley's reel (irish tin whistle)

Hi there! I'm Melissa Ianniello, from Italy, and I'm NOT a professional musician.
Indeed, I'm a documentary photographer (www.melissaianniello.com) :D
I play for passion and fun, and I am aware that I play by making several mistakes.
In the last months I've been playing excusively my transverse fluteI but there was a time when I usually played irish tin whistle and took part at irish music sessions. About 10 days ago I moved to Germany to work and I brought with me my transverse flute but no one of my whistles. Since I decided to return playing at irish music sessions, yesterday I decided to buy one waiting for taking back from italy my "Killarney" whistles.
So here you are me with this German-handmade brass tin whistle, "TWZ".
I've been not playing irish music for years so I'm a little "rusty" and I'm again nothing more than a beginner but... well, I love whistle and playing it makes me feel good. And this is all that matters.
In this video I play on the wonderful banjo and bouzouki by ‪@NiiloSirola‬. I thank him for sharing his videos.
I made this recording on July 24, 2024, while living in Germany.

Brava Melissa, trovo che suoni bene il tin whistle, in maniera coerente e con un bel legato. Mi sembra un ottimo whistle con un bel tono quello che suoni nel video, poi, ho letto che suoni anche dei Killarney e so che sono buoni, poirché ne possiedo uno ma ne ho diversi di altre marche. Ti consiglio di continuare a suonarli perché hai predisposizione. Congratulazioni!

@@giorgiolamborghini813 grazie mille Giorgio! :)) sono un po' arrugginita perché è un po' che non lo suonavo ma attualmente mi trovo in Germania per lavoro e ho ripreso con le traditional Irish session così posso allenarmi e migliorare ;-) questo è un whistle artigianale tedesco, l'ho comprato qui perché ho dimenticato i miei adorati Killarney in Italia 🤣 questo tedesco lo trovi in internet come "TWZ". È in ottone e nel bocchino c'è del legno che rende il suono molto "arioso". È un buon whistle ma non è intonabile e per via del legno preferisco i Killarney che invece hanno un suono più squillante. Ne ho uno in Re e un in Mi Bemolle. Vorrei acquistarne uno in Si bemolle. E prima o poi mi piacerebbe avere un Colin Gordie. :))

@@TheFluteOopsies Venendo dal flauto dolce che ho studiato, quando un whistle o un flauto dolce è troppo arioso cuol dire che l'aria che entra nel canale, in parte si disperde senza arrivare completamente sul labium, cioè la lamella, in pratica è come una macchina che perde benzina e il suo rendimento è basso. Pure io non sono molto amante dei whistle con queste caratteristiche e a maggior ragione quando non sono sintonizzabili.
