I have a number of these SR-JV expansionboards - including the Session, built in Roland XP50, XP80, and XV3080, as well as 2 SRX boards in my Fantom. A lot of these sounds were made by Eric Persing, the genius behind Spectrasonics! They pretty much cover all I need in my studio... No need for plugins, as it's all already there 😀🤘
Its true, I have plugins galore and have bought two JV units. I even prefer these sounds to Ominsphere 2, which is also excellent but more complex. Theres a simplicty in the JV sound that seems to work with different arrangements. The sound is very processed too, which I like. It seems all pre-EQed and ready to go!
Still have my XP-30 with this card built in, (along with the Orchestra and Techno Collection) I added the Keys of the 60s & 70s along with the Vintage Synth card for the ultimate XP30

integra7 is awesome. Specially the ability to use ipad for editing. But the 6000 sounds from integra, is almost the same sounds that was edited. like jp strings 1 jp strings 2 and so on. Etc. if u compare them u can do that on any roland keyboard and edit it to tweak your sounds. The advantage of the integra is you all have the expansion srx included. Which is worth the price. Integra is great specially for studio work. But playing live, i prefer a real keyboard.
When I first bought my JV-1080 I couldn't afford to buy the SRJV expansion boards as at the time they were more expensive that the unit itself. But when I found out many of the SC-88 Pro's sounds are based on sounds from Session I started using my SC-88 Pro for these type of sounds. I actually prefer how some of these instruments sound on the SC-88 Pro and SC-8850 especially the saxophones. I did buy the Session board a couple of years ago but I have been thinking about selling it.
I really liked the Session card that was included in my now sold JV1010. I also purchased a separate Session card after I sold that and the stereo acoustic piano was very playable, as were the saxes, trumpets and brass, choirs, strings and that awesome nylon string guitar! Less successful IMHO were the drums, electric guitars and electric basses.

I bought a second hand sound module jv1010 (released on 2000) that includes this "session" card (released in 1996). My question is: Do I need to buy a sr-jv80 02 Orchestral I expansión card (released on 1992) or the sounds in the session card already have better and updated sounds of acoustic piano, string, flute, etc.? I ask this question because I was offered a second hand one but I don't know if it worth buying it. Could you please help me?

Eric Persing is a legend. The Special FX expansion is particularly great, but each of these cards are brilliant!

Roland RD-600 and A90ex have the exact same main piano sounds on board.

Poh i have this card on my xv-5080 and im not selling it. i bought an integra but i sold my integra and kept the xv-5080 i have with 6 expansions

Just for piano/flute the session card is probably enough. But for orchestral stuff the 02 card is really good.
SESSION board has some decent strigns,sax and flute sound too..
