His interview was quite cogent, focused, articulate. He's intellectual and cerebral. I admire him tremendously - he's honest and has genuine humility. How many rock pop stars have 30 year careers like Adam Ant?
Seen him 6 times during the 80s, incredible live shows then. I did walk away in awe of the pure showmanship mixed with music & visuals. He held nothing back. Well done Adam!
Nice to witness someone so influential on a generation that comes across so well considered and humble. An appreciation for art of being a good entertainer.
Great interview :) all time legend, I am glad that he is touring again :) Thank you for posting the interview. I am really proud of what Adam is doing he is a musical genius. Can't wait for his new album Black Hussar in Marrying the Gunner's daughter.
Stuart aka Adam makes reference to Paul Weller, saying Paul has been consistant. Nice one Stu, you are right Weller has been consistant. Weller, Adam Ant, and MJ have been my main men throughout the 80's! So glad you are back on the music scene!!
OMG i would love to be as close to Adam Ant as you were there........ i have been a fan of his since i was a young child..... i am very greatful he is Back & i am planning on buying his new CD when it released in the USA
A great interview by a brilliant, proper musician as opposed to the X Factoresque pap which he so rightfully condemns. His live shows are awesome - great songs, loads of energy, really edgy. That's why he's lasted thirty years and X Factor winners last a year or two !!!
Johnny Depp and Adam Ant do TOTALLY resemble eachother. I'm noticing comments under other youtube videos (not this one) where users are getting defensive at the comparison. WHY??? Two men who both have fantastic skin and the glasses and the attitudes are similiar. Its not like nobody else in the world looks like somebody else. Its only life. :)))
i wonder if Adam is planning on bringing this Tour to the USA .... & if so hopefully the midwest as in Kansas....... but still i would love to go see him in concert
Caught you twice Adam - last time early 90s in at the Royal Oak Theatre, just outside of Detroit, and it has stuck with me my whole life, as your albums and early videos have . . .
Adam looks and sounds just fab my only concern is the band n singers up to bringing his tour to the great heights it deserves?? Girl singers did not sound very strong. Anyway I'll be there up front giving it sox. Love Mr Ant a total legend. Can't wait x x kt
hes a great guy he looks alittle edgy here sad hes back on his meds bless him he was doing so well keep fighting those demons adam you;re doing so well proud of you
Yeah, he's... ...not being 100% whenever he says in interviews he doesn't drink. On the one hand, it's his life. On the other hand, if he's using it to self-medicate on his bipolar -- that generally doesn't end well. I'm a fan of him, I like his art, and I want him able to continue his art.
@jgerlach12 - Almost unbelievable that he was in that town during that time. Quite a performance, and something quite original, even in a town (Detroit) known for its music.
Wow, totally agree with adam on all the electronic shit, get off you're arse and go find the record, look at the sleeve, learn what went into it, cherish it.
Articulate cogent well reasoned interview Cerebral intellectual quite well spoken Admired his work since early 1980's He's incendiary revolutionary world class performing artist But incongruous issue I must mention Always been vehementally against drinking alcohol quite outspoken he dislikes alcohol due to his family history dad & granddad full blown alcoholics why is he drinking a Beck's beer? He's always been life long tea totaller - doesn't make sense But he's in fine form!
I don't know why everyone keeps going on about him drinking a beer, it's not as though he's drunk! They only warn you not to drink with meds as you get drunk quicker, you can still have the odd drink and just enjoy the taste. He seems a bit fed up here but he's always polite, I think.
@MOONST0MP Now I may be wrong, but I think the hair loss was something to do with the medication he was taking. He's now not taking any, so hence the growth.. x
Sometimes you need to download stuff, to listen to out and about for example. You cant go for drive with a vinyl. I think theres a place for both, I certainly use both. And I'm overweight but not because I sit around in my room doing nothing (but I do love star trek)I have binge eating disorder. A mental illness which us very difficult to deal with. Sorry to be a moaning myrtle. You could say I have a chip on my shoulder! With loads of mayo obviously. Seriously, great interview, I've watched it many times.
Hey, yes you CAN have eighteen tracks of drums live, you go from having two drumsets to eighteen drumsets. Ok, it ends up looking like a philharmonic orchestra with most people hitting things, and therefore very stupid, but it can be done.
He's off all bipolar meds , It also is quite shocking to see him w/ a beer but he keeps looking for that coffee they bring him. He's definitely a bit off in this clip though "thanks Marco" @ the end, if he is talking to Marco Marco they had a huge career & falling out so maybe he was anxious?
@JennySussex No shit Sherlock, his name's Stuart, what do you want an award? He calls himself Adam Ant because that is what he wants to be called, don't pretend like you know him.
Calling the internet rubbish?! Hating nerds and trekkies?! This is coming from a guy who loves to dress like a pirate. I love you Adam, but I think you were just trying to be controversial. You must have just seen The Social Network or something, Just curious, I wonder how well a vinyl only release would do?
Big difference between having a drink and drinking, I think he was talking about drinking to excess, which was the norm in the music industry back in the '80's as was drugs. Plus that song was 30 years ago.
i cant listen to him seriously ,he slags way to many other bands off ,who are way better than him. he is two bob at the end of the day. very depressing too.

Such a genius with his music. A smart intellectual. There many sides of this gentleman. Nothing but total honesty. We love you Adam. Stuart
Besides being.... Well.... Amazing. Adam is also really smart and he knows how the world should be. I want to live in an Adam kinda world
Stuart aka Adam makes reference to Paul Weller, saying Paul has been consistant. Nice one Stu, you are right Weller has been consistant. Weller, Adam Ant, and MJ have been my main men throughout the 80's! So glad you are back on the music scene!!
Adam has always been a God to me, since I was a child. His return is FANTASTIC! if you were in front of him I think you would crumble!
Wow! Adam drinking a beer!
Never thought I'd see that!
OMG i would love to be as close to Adam Ant as you were there........ i have been a fan of his since i was a young child..... i am very greatful he is Back & i am planning on buying his new CD when it released in the USA

thanks I was well pleased with that, a legend!
He's got a good head on his shoulders, yeah!
“Don’t drink, don’t smoke. What do you do?”
Adam: Sips on a beer.
I've seen him smoking too.... Maybe he changed his mind!! Lol!! Kx
i wonder if Adam is planning on bringing this Tour to the USA .... & if so hopefully the midwest as in Kansas....... but still i would love to go see him in concert
Johnny Depp stoled his look..... Damn. And i love them both....
Keep up the good work Ad 😍
Oh my goodness, this interview is on the day of our Disasters! And Adam is Beautiful! Coolness incarnate.
I know what you mean, but they look good, can play well and he gets his energy from them, hopefully sums up to a great tour! can't wait either!
Caught you twice Adam - last time early 90s in at the Royal Oak Theatre, just outside of Detroit, and it has stuck with me my whole life, as your albums and early videos have . . .

@siranthonyz -I was at that same concert! And it has stuck with me, too!
@jgerlach12 - Almost unbelievable that he was in that town during that time. Quite a performance, and something quite original, even in a town (Detroit) known for its music.
He’s gorgeous and absolutely adorable 🥰
Totally agree, thank!

What about John Lydon then?
Hey, yes you CAN have eighteen tracks of drums live, you go from having two drumsets to eighteen drumsets. Ok, it ends up looking like a philharmonic orchestra with most people hitting things, and therefore very stupid, but it can be done.
THIS!!

How come he has long hair???? He went bald years ago!!!
Billy Jango I think he wears a hat 🎩 with hair attached.
I doubt we will see Adam without some form of headgear
Think he looks cool no matter what really

Big difference between having a drink and drinking, I think he was talking about drinking to excess, which was the norm in the music industry back in the '80's as was drugs. Plus that song was 30 years ago.

He's always wearing a hat lately. Has he gone bald?
Well he's hair was receding in the 80s so I'll say yes.
