Question the Meta business app just added features for reels so I used the app for a reel. It let me pick music for the reel like a personal Instagram but it posted the reel with the music to Facebook but did not post the music to Instagram. Is there a reason why Facebook is a allowing copyright music and not Instagram. Do I still need to change account type.

Hi Dominik, there's no way that I've ever found to use the music on only part of the clip. Even if you turn it down, it'd be down the entire way through. The only way to do that would be to subscribe to something like Epidemic Sounds and then edit it yourself outside of Instagram, unfortunately. - C
I came across another video where the person screen recorded music TH-cam and layered the audio to their video. It was quite extensive but it worked for her. However, not sure if Instagram would catch on to that and take it down. Think I'll just stick to royalty free music. Thanks for the tips just subscribed!
That could work but it's almost guaranteed that it'll be taken down, and it could strike your account, too. Hey, I know it's been a long time since you guys made this video, but I could use some help! I am interested in switching my account to a creator account like you mentioned, but I know we (my work) use Meta for auto-posting. I wouldn't consider that a third-party app, but you never know. Do you have any insight as to whether you can still use Meta with a creator account? Also, I have my own business account on IG, and I can access all of the music just fine. However, my work's business account cannot. Could that be because my work's account is linked with Meta?
Hi Sarah, no problem, we always check comments! I actually don't know the answer so I Googled and I couldn't find anything that told me definitively either way. You could try switching and if you have issues, you can just switch back and not lose anything. That sounds like a glitch, no business accounts should be able to access popular music due to licensing, so enjoy that one! Your work's account sounds exactly how it should be, so you've got some sort of miracle workaround on yours. :) - C

Hi Sahar, so when you move off a Business account to a personal account, you automatically lose all Insights with no way to retrieve them, unfortunately. Creator accounts are almost identical to Business accounts, so you won't lose any Insights in that transition. - C

Hii So I have a Clothing business and due to that an Instagram shop which is connected with my website so that my followers can also shop my stuff via Instagram. This feature is obviously really important to me and I’m scared to loose it since I read online that only business accounts can use it but I also need the music for my stories and reels. Pleasure! This is what the Instagram blog says about Shops: business.instagram.com/shopping/setup?igb_blog_shops_launch. It seems you can have a Creator account and maintain the Shop. You could try that based on this information, but sometimes the "save without audio" thing can happen for that account. The best bet would be to edit videos externally and use royalty free music at that point, with sites like Epidemic Sounds. - C
I have a personal account & have a bunch of cool reels, the audio is a major factor. Do you know what will happen to all my reels if I switch to business or creator account? Will my old reels be muted/deleted? Or will it only affect my future reels going forward?
Great question. We don't know for sure, this hasn't come up before however being that all the music is available on a Creator account, switching shouldn't result in any issues for you. The Business accounts are the only ones with music restrictions, but my guess is that it would only affect future Reels. Unless you have a specific need for a Business account, my suggestion will be to go with a Creator account. - C

Can you switch to a creator account if you work with paid promotions. I noticed when I started doing paid promotions Instagram switched me to a business account and I lost my music capability. I can only use original sound. I can’t save etc thank you!

Hi! No, that would remove the music immediately. We'd suggest to move to a Creator account, not a personal account, then it'd be almost identical to the Business account. - C

Hi, that's a great question. I don't believe it's possible, when we want to do that, we just edit the video ourselves in Final Cut and use royalty free music. - C

Hey Abhishek, thanks for watching :) For sure, so you can post your workouts on IG and YT and you won't get a copyright strike as long as you're not using copyright music. You own your own videos but you can certainly post the same video on both IG and YT with no issues. - C
For the first option, what if you want to promote your page but you've already switched to a regular account, can you switch back to business account and promote a video ?( With a copyright free music of course). If you do that would the previous videos post while you were on a regular account be affected? And after promoting can you switch back to regular account later and continue postings your videos? Hi! So Instagram doesn't currently allow ads on Reels, but if you're referring to promoting other posts (video, static), you can do so even when you have a Creator account. Not sure what you mean by a "regular" account, in this video we're talking about Business and Creator accounts, both of which do almost all of the same things. No past promotions will be affected if you switch. - C

Hi Priyanka, this video pre-dates trending audio, but on IG when you're in the Reels tab, there's a little arrow next to the song names of the ones that are currently trending. There's no exact figure that determines trending that I'm aware of, it's just the arrow in the feed. Hope that helps, thanks for watching - C
On Instagram, the 'save audio' and 'add audio' allows you to add a copyrighted track. But those reels can't be boosted, however a lot of the accounts i follow seem to have boosted posts. Is this possible? Also can Insta mute a reel that has copyrighted music but isn't boosted?
Hi Aashna, so you can't boost or promote any posts that have any sort of commercial music in them at all. We're not aware of any ways around this, it seems to be a steadfast rule so maybe those companies have a huge marketing budget and have acquired a manager at FB that allows them to work around the system. That would be my best guess, anyway. - C
Hey, I’m from Toronto and I posted a reel yesterday with the Rolling Stones - give me shelter. I was a personal account at the moment when I posted it . And they removed it immediately Canada wide. I watched this video and changed to creator last night . I hope it works now because I love music and i want to use mainstream music . I really hope this works . Thanks
Hi Nick, did you use the music library within Reels, or did you edit the video with that song on it yourself outside of the app? If it's the latter (which I assume it is), then that explains the takedown. If you used the music outside of the app even in a Creator account, the same thing will happen. You can only use the internal Instagram music library for music. - C
@@Highseasonco I click the audio icon , I searched Rolling Stones, I selected “give me shelter” i picked the 30 seconds of the song I wanted to play. I edited the reel with 5 or 6 videos off of my photo album from my iPhone . And I shared it. Last about 30’seconds yesterday . Just tried it again tonight and it lasted almost an hour before they once again removed it. I’ve switched to creator and it’s only been 24 hrs hopefully that sets in by the Monday , and it will all be the way it should be... thanks for responding
@@nickmartellacci446 Wow that is incredibly strange. Removing your post that used their own audio library goes against the point of them creating it. I've never heard anything so strange. Let us know how you go with the Creator account, perhaps there's some sort of rule I'm unaware of regarding personal accounts (now I think of it, I don't use any personal accounts at all, they're all Business or Creator but it still shouldn't make a difference). - C

Hi! I’ve seen quite a number of business accounts being able to post reels with popular music but when I try it I’m not able to save the audio or search for any popular music. I have no idea how the other business accounts managed to do it. Pls help 😭😭
Hi Rachel, when Business accounts can use popular music, it's either a glitch or it was a post from a while back. The only way to access it is with a Creator account, unfortunately. You can do almost everything that a Business account can do, however. - C
I have figured out how some business accounts are able to use popular music… what they are doing is, they are downloading the music separately on the side and adding it to their reel video using Adobe premiere or final cut or any other third party app. And then they are uploading the ready made. Idea to their reels. In the 1st 5 minutes or 1 hour Instagram shows that that particular video is using “original audio” but after some time Instagram Ai realizes the music is popular music and attaching that reel into the particular popular music. I have tried it and tested on business accounts and that’s exactly what’s happening. But, this is not a safe way… one day Instagram will just block those out. I have already started seeing some reels of people who used certain audio and there’s a notification saying “this music is not available any more” which makes the reel silent 😅.

That's so strange! Definitely a glitch. You could try deleting the app and reinstalling, or even doing it on another phone. If neither of those things work, you could contact Facebook Help and see if they can assist via their chat: facebook.com/business/help/support - C
Hello, please I need your help, I changed my account from a business account to a creator account so I can be able to use trendy audio and music. But Instagram still blocks some of my reels, "people have been blocked from viewing your reels because it ma contain content that belongs to someone else" I'm assuming it's the audio I used. It has happened 2-3 times now. And I'm kinda scared to post again cuz I don't want to wake up one day and my account is disabled or something. Hi, that's really strange, you shouldn't be having any issues with a Creator account and if you're exclusively using the music from the Instagram Library. Are you adding in outside music at all? - C
@@Highseasonco yeah, sometimes I screen record them from TH-cam cuz I can't find the specific name if the audio on IG, so I screen record on TH-cam, extract the audio and edit with inshot and post it on IG

Interesting, I tested it yesterday and it was still working. These are the only options we have for now, we've done two videos on all the updates and this is the first we've seen where it isn't working. You could switch to a Creator account, perhaps. That seems to be working consistently. - C
I found another loophole! Press on the music you like, and when you get the list of all the videos that use the same music, press on any video. You'll get a "Use Audio" button on the lower right. :D Hope that helps!

Hi Aldimar, absolutely, using the music in the Instagram library is by far the safest way to add music to Reels. For saving the music, there's no issues with copyright from what we've seen so far seeing as the music is already within the app. Re royalty-free music, we use Epidemic Sound (here's our link with a 30 day free trial: bit.ly/2UzjqOn). The personal account is $12 a month, super worth it in our opinion! - C

@@aldimaromar8901 It could be many factors. The followers on each account might be after different things, the hashtags you're using, the times of day you're posting etc. So many things affect the performance so it's tough to diagnose. - C

@@margottballesteros4001 If the music is offered within the Instagram app, you can use it. The only time it's a problem is when you add the music yourself externally. So as long as you stick to the music offered in the app, you'll be fine. - C
Hi, that just means that the post didn't select a song, so if it says Original Audio, it either doesn't contain copyright music or it's a matter of time before it gets caught. Sometimes, actually, they end up linking the song instead of taking it down, which is a much better solution. - C
You still have access to Insights with a Creator account, so if you have KPIs based on metrics, that won't be lost if you change. If the "save" option has been removed, that's a real shame. One or two other people have mentioned that, but it's tough to know that it's been taken away completely or just for a few people. We'll keep an eye on it, but I hope not. - C
Essentially across the board, if you put music in outside of the internal IG libraries, you're risking having the post taken down or your account compromised. For Stories, they have the Music sticker that has access to everything on streaming services, same deal with the Reels library. Stick to those (via a Creator account), you'll be fine! @@Highseasonco Thank you for responding. So I used music directly from their catalogue and my video was under 90 secs (didn't know if that affected it all). Also I used a creator account so no work around. Just found the song used the 'use the song' like I normally do and they blocked it. Really cheesed me off because it was such a good video that I worked really hard on.

I believe it may stop working when you go back, or it'll put your account in jeopardy. The only reason to stick with a business account would be for the auto-posting from third party scheduling software, so if you don't do that, then there's no reason not to switch to Creator permanently. - C

When i posted my first reel i had to change my business account to personal account to have access to the viral music reels… then i switched back to business account after posting it. Hi Sahar, so when you move off a Business account to a personal account, you automatically lose all Insights with no way to retrieve them, unfortunately. Creator accounts are almost identical to Business accounts, so you won't lose any Insights in that transition. - C

Pleasure! This is what the Instagram blog says about Shops: business.instagram.com/shopping/setup?igb_blog_shops_launch. It seems you can have a Creator account and maintain the Shop. You could try that based on this information, but sometimes the "save without audio" thing can happen for that account. The best bet would be to edit videos externally and use royalty free music at that point, with sites like Epidemic Sounds. - C
I have a personal account & have a bunch of cool reels, the audio is a major factor. Do you know what will happen to all my reels if I switch to business or creator account? Will my old reels be muted/deleted? Or will it only affect my future reels going forward?
Great question. We don't know for sure, this hasn't come up before however being that all the music is available on a Creator account, switching shouldn't result in any issues for you. The Business accounts are the only ones with music restrictions, but my guess is that it would only affect future Reels. Unless you have a specific need for a Business account, my suggestion will be to go with a Creator account. - C

Can you switch to a creator account if you work with paid promotions. I noticed when I started doing paid promotions Instagram switched me to a business account and I lost my music capability. I can only use original sound. I can’t save etc thank you!
You can definitely run ads from a Creator account, we do that for a number of our accounts. You can safely switch over and get your music back! - C

Hi, that's a great question. I don't believe it's possible, when we want to do that, we just edit the video ourselves in Final Cut and use royalty free music. - C

For the first option, what if you want to promote your page but you've already switched to a regular account, can you switch back to business account and promote a video ?( With a copyright free music of course). If you do that would the previous videos post while you were on a regular account be affected? And after promoting can you switch back to regular account later and continue postings your videos? Hi! So Instagram doesn't currently allow ads on Reels, but if you're referring to promoting other posts (video, static), you can do so even when you have a Creator account. Not sure what you mean by a "regular" account, in this video we're talking about Business and Creator accounts, both of which do almost all of the same things. No past promotions will be affected if you switch. - C

Hi Priyanka, this video pre-dates trending audio, but on IG when you're in the Reels tab, there's a little arrow next to the song names of the ones that are currently trending. There's no exact figure that determines trending that I'm aware of, it's just the arrow in the feed. Hope that helps, thanks for watching - C

On Instagram, the 'save audio' and 'add audio' allows you to add a copyrighted track. But those reels can't be boosted, however a lot of the accounts i follow seem to have boosted posts. Is this possible?
Also can Insta mute a reel that has copyrighted music but isn't boosted?

Hi Aashna, so you can't boost or promote any posts that have any sort of commercial music in them at all. We're not aware of any ways around this, it seems to be a steadfast rule so maybe those companies have a huge marketing budget and have acquired a manager at FB that allows them to work around the system. That would be my best guess, anyway. - C

Hey, I’m from Toronto and I posted a reel yesterday with the Rolling Stones - give me shelter. I was a personal account at the moment when I posted it . And they removed it immediately Canada wide. Hi Nick, did you use the music library within Reels, or did you edit the video with that song on it yourself outside of the app? If it's the latter (which I assume it is), then that explains the takedown. If you used the music outside of the app even in a Creator account, the same thing will happen. You can only use the internal Instagram music library for music. - C
@@Highseasonco I click the audio icon , I searched Rolling Stones, I selected “give me shelter” i picked the 30 seconds of the song I wanted to play. I edited the reel with 5 or 6 videos off of my photo album from my iPhone . And I shared it. Last about 30’seconds yesterday . Just tried it again tonight and it lasted almost an hour before they once again removed it. I’ve switched to creator and it’s only been 24 hrs hopefully that sets in by the Monday , and it will all be the way it should be... thanks for responding

Hi! I’ve seen quite a number of business accounts being able to post reels with popular music but when I try it I’m not able to save the audio or search for any popular music. I have no idea how the other business accounts managed to do it. Pls help 😭😭
Hi Rachel, when Business accounts can use popular music, it's either a glitch or it was a post from a while back. The only way to access it is with a Creator account, unfortunately. You can do almost everything that a Business account can do, however. - C
I have figured out how some business accounts are able to use popular music… what they are doing is, they are downloading the music separately on the side and adding it to their reel video using Adobe premiere or final cut or any other third party app. And then they are uploading the ready made. Idea to their reels. In the 1st 5 minutes or 1 hour Instagram shows that that particular video is using “original audio” but after some time Instagram Ai realizes the music is popular music and attaching that reel into the particular popular music. I have tried it and tested on business accounts and that’s exactly what’s happening. But, this is not a safe way… one day Instagram will just block those out. I have already started seeing some reels of people who used certain audio and there’s a notification saying “this music is not available any more” which makes the reel silent 😅.

But Instagram still blocks some of my reels, "people have been blocked from viewing your reels because it ma contain content that belongs to someone else" I'm assuming it's the audio I used. Interesting, I tested it yesterday and it was still working. These are the only options we have for now, we've done two videos on all the updates and this is the first we've seen where it isn't working. You could switch to a Creator account, perhaps. That seems to be working consistently. - C

I found another loophole! Press on the music you like, and when you get the list of all the videos that use the same music, press on any video. You'll get a "Use Audio" button on the lower right. :D Hope that helps!

Hi Aldimar, absolutely, using the music in the Instagram library is by far the safest way to add music to Reels. For saving the music, there's no issues with copyright from what we've seen so far seeing as the music is already within the app.
Re royalty-free music, we use Epidemic Sound (here's our link with a 30 day free trial: bit.ly/2UzjqOn). The personal account is $12 a month, super worth it in our opinion! - C

Hi, that just means that the post didn't select a song, so if it says Original Audio, it either doesn't contain copyright music or it's a matter of time before it gets caught. Sometimes, actually, they end up linking the song instead of taking it down, which is a much better solution. - C

Save the music from reels option lost overnight.
You still have access to Insights with a Creator account, so if you have KPIs based on metrics, that won't be lost if you change. If the "save" option has been removed, that's a real shame. One or two other people have mentioned that, but it's tough to know that it's been taken away completely or just for a few people. We'll keep an eye on it, but I hope not. - C

Essentially across the board, if you put music in outside of the internal IG libraries, you're risking having the post taken down or your account compromised. For Stories, they have the Music sticker that has access to everything on streaming services, same deal with the Reels library. Stick to those (via a Creator account), you'll be fine! Also I used a creator account so no work around. Just found the song used the 'use the song' like I normally do and they blocked it. I believe it may stop working when you go back, or it'll put your account in jeopardy. The only reason to stick with a business account would be for the auto-posting from third party scheduling software, so if you don't do that, then there's no reason not to switch to Creator permanently. - C
