  • This candle was made as an experiment, and the process was recorded for testing the sound and possibility of smoke. Everything went surprisingly well. The wick did not produce any smoke and the sound was exactly what I wanted to hear.
Which oil to use for soaking the wooden wicks? Most people mention olive oil, but some report it may produce a bit of smell when burning. I use only avocado oil for cooking and that's why I chose it as my trusted oil. It's perfect: no smell or smoke.
I used one popsicle stick (washed with soap after eating ice-cream) and one coffee stirrer after soaking them in oil for a couple of days.
This video is very brief and simple but may be useful for those who are curious to make things out of stuff we have at home instead of buying new materials. The method will be modified and improved in the future and I will make a longer and better video.

This was my first attempt to make a wooden wick candle and test if it will produce this soothing crackling sound. And so it did! I hope you like it as much as I do, and may even feel enthused to make your own. It is so easy and practically free. Enjoy!
