The great think about activation of a park is all the people you got to talk to. Seems many had never heard of ham radio. As it happens a lot, you maybe their intro into ham radio world by being there that day! Also, you confused me for a second, when you put on the screen that you were not expecting so many people, and that is why they were not miced up. I was like what does it have to do with mice? 73 K1MAZ

Hey Josh. Been a ham since 1989. Went silent for over a decade after they implemented the No-Code licensing. I just could not handle the influx of morons keying down on people and using "colorful metaphors" over the air. So I am back. Things haven't changed on the repeaters much (147.705 and 449.500 are great examples.) I do enjoy HF a bunch, especially the challenge of CW.
I see you activated Chino Hills State Park, and we live in Chino Hills. So, if you are ever going back to activate, I would love to see you working and maybe I will set up my stuff (I am a CW guy), running QRP on a Yaesu FT-817. I built an EFHW antenna based on an article by Mindy, KM1NDY (love her call!) Anyway, I have not ventured out yet, and would love to see someone experienced in action. If you're OK with that, I am good in QRZ. Thanks and Best 73, Marc, N6UNX
