Thanks. 👍The main purpose of the fire nozzles on the tug boats is to fight fires but they are occasionally used for water salutes on special occasions.
You sometimes see it at airports as well for special flights (such as a new route or a new type of aircraft) though in such cases the airport's fire engines are used to spray the water.

Thanks. There wasn't many people around as it was about the time that England were playing in the football. I thought that if I filmed it at Tilbury, I could also film Ambience departing as it was due to depart about 15 / 20 minutes later.
I believe there was also a Colombian Navy training ship sail up today.

Thanks. The only other water salutes I have seen there was when the Ambassador cruise ship Ambition came for the first time and also when the Virgin cruise ship Valiant Lady came for the first (and only!) time. I am sure that there have been other ones as well but these are the only ones that I have seen.

Thanks. The cruise ship Ambience was due to leave about 15/20 minutes later so I thought I would film two videos. Hopefully the Ambience departure will be the next video uploaded.

Thanks for the water salute shot of Juan Sebastian Se Elcano on the Thames. I do hope the ships brass is still shining afterwards. Been there and done that.

Thanks. 👍It is only the third one that I have seen live (the other two being when Ambition made it's first visit to Tilbury and when the Virgin cruise ship Valiant Lady came to Tilbury). I know that there have been others but these are the only ones that I have actually seen.

@@ThamesShips I attended a Dunkirk Little Ships return to Chatham Docks so we were all dressed over and brass all shiny. The Massey Shore Thames Fire Boat decided to do a sail past with the monitor blasting out lovely dock water. The crew of Bluebird of Chelsea presented the Massey crew with there now ruined ships bell for them to polish again. Plus a bottle of gin to sip while doing it.
I helped the big Bluebird get away from the dock early, she was hemmed in between boats rafted ahead and astern. So old Lazy Days did a bit of tug work. After Dunkirk Lazy Days was kept in the navy doing Thames Estuary parachute mine patrols. She was under Chatham control buy was moored at Queensborough for the duration.

If I hadn't been filming this sailing ship at Tilbury on Sunday, I would probably have been at Southend Airport seeing the Red Arrows. They were operating out of Southend for the afternoon to fly to an airshow.
