    • @2zxodcfm
      @2zxodcfm 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Based on what seems to be going on in recent Britain times, can we assume the qualification for knighthood is simply the ability to produce anything resembling a solid stool? Leaves Sadiq Khan at loose ends though, obviously.

    • @stevetaylor7206
      @stevetaylor7206 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      One of the biggest affronts and injustices of the modern times. How Jeff hasn't been considered for a knighthood Is down to a bunch of dithering old farts in Parliament, who haven't a clue what's occurring. They get recommendations from a bunch of incompetents. Who have no idea. About Real talent!

    Back in the 70s the telephone was like texting. If you couldn't be there, that phone call was important, it was crucial. Now when you hear us talk or see someone write about the 70s, you know a little better that it's not just a saying, it was real. Every song coming on the radio was new, new bands, new sounds and all so cool (if you had the right stations on in your car or in your room). No video either, had to let the music move you around and find its way in your imagination. 🎶 ELO is the perfect name: ELECTRIC LIGHT ORCHESTRA.

    ELO"s lead singer/songwriter Jeff Lynne was actually in The Abbey Road studio while The Beatles were recording the "Sgt Pepper" album....Some of their genius must have rubbed off on him because ELO have a huge collection of great songs...."Evil Woman", "Hold on Tight" "Mr Blue Sky", "Rockaria" etc. Hope you react to more of them.

      @@elgenetiamzon1062 It was obviously a "Tongue in Cheek" analogy......of course "Genius" can't "Rub Off or be "Caught" from anyone....Genius is already inherent in a person from birth.....maybe I should have made it more clear for you that, perhaps, Jeff's observing The Beatles "Up Close" had an influence on the genius that he already was, is and always will be......Peace to you, from someone who bought the "Out of The Blue" album as soon as it was released.

    When I was around 10 years old, I used to dig through my Dad's cassette tape collection and sit listening with my headphones on. I came across 'The Greatest Hits of ELO' and to say I was blown away is an understatement. I had never heard anything like it in my short life up to then. The harmonies, the orchestral sounds, the highs and lows of the melodies and the whole damned beauty of the music......I fell in love instantly. At 49 years old now, I am still in awe of Jeff Lynne and ELO.

    One of the best, and most underrated and underappreciated, bands ever. "Turn to Stone" is my favorite. I can't help dancing when I hear it. So glad you are enjoying ELO.

    You might as well just write down the names of all of their hits on little separate pieces of paper........toss 'em into a hat.....& pick them out one at a time. They're ALL excellent. I think I was in my early twenties, when 'Telephone Line' came out.

    ELO was huge in the 1970s and their use of a lot of symphony instruments gave them a pretty unique sound. The lead singer, Jeff Lynne has also done production work for other bands and he was a member of the Traveling Wilburys, along with Roy Orbison, George Harrison, Tom Petty, etc. "Telephone Line" was one of my favorites. "Mr. Blue Sky", "Turn to Stone", "Don't Bring Me Down", "Livin' Thing", "Strange Magic", and "Evil Woman" are all very good songs.

      @@michaelnorman3393 Wow, I sure did. We live in the age of short attention spans. My comment was getting longer and longer as I was typing out the names and I was thinking "too wordy, too wordy" -- and I panicked. A shameful display, may Bob forgive me. ;-)

    ELO was my favorite group in high school (long, long time ago!), and they're still my favorite. There are soooo many songs of theirs worth checking out, including "Mr. Blue Sky," "Sweet Talkin' Woman," "Shine a Little Love," "Diary of Horace Wimp," "Turn to Stone," "All Over the World," "Can't Get It Out of my Head," "Xanadu" (with Olivia Newton-John vocals), "Livin' Thing," and "Last Train to London."

    Before everyone had an answering machine, ughh.. it was brutal! (the word “voicemail” didn’t even exist kids, and NO caller ID either.)
    You never know… maybe the person could be in the bathroom! Or about to walk in the door with groceries! AND THEY RUSH TO THE PHONE ON THE LAST RING BEFORE YOU GAVE UP AND HUNG UP THE PHONE????
    And when you are so in love it makes you sick, and you are stranded far away, and would do anything just to get 20 seconds of someone’s time, even if it’s the last thing you ever get to tell them or hear them tell you… YOU WOULD SIT ON THAT PHONE LATE AT NIGHT AND JUST LET IT RING FOR LIKE AN HOUR, JUST IN CASE THEY WERE JUST OUT, AND JUST WALKING IN THE DOOR RIGHT AS YOU HUNG UP. I mean, no caller ID! It’s not like they could just be ignoring the phone, right?!
    OR COULD THEY…(??!) What if they turned off the ringer? Sht. BRUTAL.
    ‘Been there!
