  • Resounding throughout the pages of Scripture is the proclamation that God is the sovereign King. In this message, Steven Lawson examines the nature and extent of God’s sovereign rule, showing how a biblical understanding of this topic can change the way we view the progress of history, the events of the present world, and the circumstances of our own lives.

Is it possible to ever hear too much about the sovereignty of God, a subject which the lovers of God, have a great love of. What a joy this subject is.
But we know that whilst God can do what He likes when He likes, nevertheless He will not, nor can He, ever cease from being God by being evil.
And shall we say that with His incredible work of predestination, that He only predestines those like numbers drawn out of a hat, or does it not seem more plausible that He saves on the basis of merit alone.
For we surely know that God knew, before creating mankind, which ones would have a propensity to be for Him, and also those who would be against Him.
And those of us who are predestined and are thinkers, recognise that without the orchestrated life or the predestinated life, we would not be producing the fruits of repentance, for we would not have repented.
However whilst our repentance was somewhat forced upon us by God, however God’s forcing would have been null and void if we didn’t have within ourselves a desire to please God, albeit that perhaps we might not have appreciated the latent strength of this desire.
And without this undisputed good desire to please God, repentance would not have caught Paul the apostle on the road to Damascus, when confronted by the living God. In the vernacular it takes two to tango.
But without God’s predestinating intervention, Paul the apostle would have escaped the captivity of God as we the believers are all God’s captives.
But if we could be rescued without the rescue operation of God, whereby we could repent of our own free will without God’s help, as He helped Paul the apostle, then surely God would not have seen the necessity to intervene.
Therefore shall we not conclude that God intervened because without His intervention we would not have repented.
And whilst the work on the cross by the Lord Jesus Christ obtained the right, an offer Satan cannot refuse, to rescue us out of the kingdom of darkness into the glorious light, nevertheless because this was a ransom guaranteed to be paid, as predicted by the scriptures, it allowed God to plan the orchestration of the lives of the redeemed via His work of predestination.
Therefore can we not conclude that God predestines because without Him predestinating us, none would be saved.
And although we might be inclined to think that maybe we can actually stand against Satan, but without Jesus Christ’s intercession we would falter.
Remember that without the intercessory prayers of Jesus, Peter who had been with The Lord for 3 years, would have gotten sifted by Satan who desired to sift him. Luke 22 : 31-32
Yes God is Sovereign indeed and it’s His Sovereignty that allows Him to predestinate us, but not so without the ransom of the sacrifice of the Lord Jesus Christ on the cross, that obtains our release from the captivity of Satan.
And if that supreme sacrifice of God’s only begotten son, the lamb of God who takes away the sins of the world, was not necessary to save us, or if there was some other way, then God would have spared His own son.
Therefore shall we not say that predestination also was necessary for our salvation, and that God chose us before the foundation of the world, knowing that given the chance, we would be for Him and not against Him.
But how would we know of the existence of predestination with being notified in the scriptures that it existed. For obviously God wanted us to know of it’s existence otherwise we wouldn’t have received this notification in holy writ.
And this appreciation of the existence of predestination, gives us an understanding as to why God seemingly seems to pass some by who inexplicably are disinterested in God’s salvation for man. But this we do know. We know that God would save all if all would want to please God.
And today whilst we the believers are God pleasers and are very pleased that we want to please God, however we never knew what God knew, that we actually had it in us to become the grateful servants of The Lord Jesus Christ, our Saviour and Redeemer and friend.

The main one is the issue of God's sovereignty in election. Many cannot stand, nor fathom that it is GOD who ordains those whom HE will save and "grant" repentance to, so that they are made able to come to Him.
Yes, UNLESS and UNTIL it is God who works *in* us we cannot and will not 'work out our salvation.'

    • @stephenhagen234
      @stephenhagen234 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

@@rolysantos Often times the scripture "many are called but few are chosen" (Matt 22:14) is used to support the "election of saints" aka "predestination" I believe that is a misapplication of that scripture based upon a misunderstanding of God's character. He is desirous that all come to repentance and none perish but enter into His kingdom. He leaves the choice up to us and does not "send" anyone to hell without their permission.

    "The Sovereignty of God"
Interesting Title kind Sir...For God who IS Jesus is indeed a "Sovereign" God...But...
...be careful Brethren. Because, Jesus having that power; does NOT mean He "predistined" every thing that would happen. Because He didn't! For He gave ALL humans "FREE-Will"; unlike any other living creature that He created.
This means; that beginning with Adam and Eve until the END of the world; He moves aside most of the time; and let's us alone most of the time. Where we CAN sin (not without consequences) and we CAN obey His commandments; at our own will.
Now, there will be times; when HE does interupt our lives; when problems He deems NEEDS his power. But most of the time; we are Free as a bird. Even though many Chrisitans do not believe that. LIke "Joh Calvin" and his "fans". Even to this day.
Sadly, John and his "echos" did not know; the difference between "Omniscience" and "Predestination". Where:
    1. Ominiscience is Jesus KNOWS everything but He rarely causes it.
    2. Predestination is Jesus KNOWS everything AND He makes every thing happen.
Thus I believe, on "Judgment Day;" where ALL is reaveled: we will find out that Jesus did not create us using predistination scenarios. Now could I be wrong? ABOLLUTELY YES! But all others could be wrong too...
...In any case kind Sir, Please Pray OFTEN and Praise Jesus OFTEN; for He is the ONLY true "God Almighty"; there will ever have been. And may Jesus bless you and yours always. AMEN!

He certainly don't reign over man's will. That's y we in shape we are he don't do that he gives us freedom of choice in all things he won't go against our will so guess shared this video too soon two too many errors sad too cuz much was good n right words

    • @BernaskaneyTheLangobard

He would not be able to declare the end from the beginning if man's will was free will. Not even God's Will is free: He has a Will, He doesn't change, nor changes His Will.
He cannot even do everything: He can only do what He wants.
He is almighty within the boudaries of His Will, which is coherent Will.
He declares the end from the beginning, because by creating the beginning He created the ending and everything in between: 1+1+1+1 is equal 2 which is equal 4, so past, present and future.

Why can't a sovereign god handle creatures with free will? Doesn't it make logical sense that the most loving and powerful God would be one that offered salvation as a gift to everyone and was able to handle their free will choice in all matters?

Once you accept Jesus Christ into your heart the Holy Spirit takes permanent residence in your heart. He’s not a visitor. We can shut our ears from hearing but if He was accepted in, He is there.
When He seems distant, it’s because we are. Get back in the Word. Ask God to search your heart.

The Holy Spirit regenerates and renews the believer (Titus 3:5). At the moment of salvation, the Spirit baptizes the believer into the Body of Christ (Romans 6:3). Believers receive the new birth by the power of the Spirit (John 3:5-8). The Spirit comforts believers with fellowship and joy as they go through a hostile world (1 Thessalonians 1:6; 2 Corinthians 13:14). The Spirit, in His mighty power, fills believers with “all joy and peace” as they trust the Lord, causing believers to “overflow with hope” (Romans 15:13). bjm is correct this is not a flippity flop. Believers are born again (regenerated) when they believe (John 3:3; Titus 3:5). For a Christian to lose his salvation, he would have to be un-regenerated. The Bible gives no evidence that the new birth can be taken away.
The Holy Spirit indwells all believers (John 14:17; Romans 8:9) and baptizes all believers into the Body of Christ (1 Corinthians 12:13). For a believer to become unsaved, he would have to be "un-indwelt" and detached from the Body of Christ.
Ask God to guide you and go talk to a minister Shirley ✝️ if you are still in Christ then God Bless and if not go have a conversation re the free gift of salvation that is still available to you in Gods abundant Grace and Mercy 🙏✝️

Interesting that Brother Steven departs from the very subject he is preaching…when he speaks of GOD doing things “before time” in a succession of…time. Yeah - the Sovereignty of GOD…Incomprehensible to the created mind but fully apprehended in simple belief in the Scriptures.
