I'll also add to Josh's spiel that Dure was not only introduced before magnet spike, but also before extreme style at all. In fact, nothing Josh and Cotton have done yet was designed around extreme style because it was not introduced until the zeniths were added in Frontier Z. Can't imagine how difficult this fight was without extreme style.

So Josh, I have some lore about this THING for you. He is an artificial Elder Dragon created by the Ancient Civilization, but he turned on them. Realizing they created something that cannot be controlled, they built the Sky Corridor as a prison. Also, he reanimates himself with his own poison. In his extra phase, he forces himself to cheat death one last time. Also that poison he uses increases his speed and strength to insane levels, but it slowly kills him in the process.
I actually really love these sorts of "dungeon crawl-esque" quests in MH. I loved the everwoods in 4U, and having a fully explorable ruin complete with traps and monster encounters like the sky corridor but in current gen MH games would be incredible. I could see it being done really well.

Duremudira does actually have an armor set, as well as weapons that work vaguely like the Kulve ones. It's just that (as far as I'm aware), they essentially fought the equivalent of a Repel Quest monster. He was basically Iceborne's Alatreon skill-check, but for Frontier. MagSpike simply made him less dangerous.
Well boy do I have news for you! Max level Arrogant Duremudira literally has Jet wing boosts! As in literally Valstrax esque jet charges with ice blasting out of his wings.
Yeah that Rajang reminds me of the stories 1 encounter in the tower, the last place where you'd except to find a rajang is trapped within a tower yet even more surprising is that this rajang does no damage. It's literally got me cackling like the witch from snow white XD
Duremudira actually DOES have a very epic armor set tho? He had a relic weapon system similar to Kulve or something as well. He also has Valstrax Jet wing boosts in Arrogant form!

Seriously I just love the intros, with Cotton being the guy doing the weird stuff for most and Josh being the badass one, but tries to be like Cotton on rare occasions, it's just comedy giving the chef's kiss to bless these skits with laughs

Arrogant Dure and 2nd district Dure are two different monsters. 2nd district is the same as the 1st but with a new phase. Arrogant is an extreme variant. He does also have an armor set, it just doesn't appear unless you have his mats.

Honestly Duremudira is my favorite Frontier monster. When I first saw it, I really didn't like how alien it looked but after seeing it fight it looks amazing. I love this thing's animations, I love the subtle details like how it moves its feet to correct its posture after an attack, it honestly feels so real despite looking so alien. I love how it attacks, they look so powerful and I can feel the power behind them. Usually when I think of Frontier monsters coming over to the main series, I think there should be some small adjustments but this is one that I am 100% okay with bringing just the way it is.
A purple Goss Harag that uses frozen poison for his attacks would be super cool! I can also imagine one that uses frozen Hellfire gas, which could be awesome but only related in that both would be purple. I can imagine frozen poison Harag being pretty awesome as well, lots of purple beams and purple ice blasts and such.
you know, the inside of the Sky Corridor reminds me of Krell Castle in Chronos Before the Ashes. and holy dragon scales i have underestimated Duremudira, remind me to never do that again!

I like to thimk (and I believe some of the lore supports this) that this "elder dragon" is actually a frankenstein-ish creation from a group of mad clandestine scientists of the Ancient Civilization who biologically modified a normal monster to fight on their side of the Dragon War. But like Frankenstein, it turned on them and decimated their stronghold. And it lives an incredibly long life due to the experiments. Now it reigns over its own run-down ancient torture chambers, stewing in its own anger and hatred to what was done to it eons ago
Duremudiras were indeed created by the ancient civ, however they didn't turn on them, these things are still fulfilling their original purpose of guarding the sky corridor and it's secrets. Mind you, we have never seen past the second district. Gameplay wise due to hunter road replacing the sky corridor, lore wise because of these monstrosities.

However, they classified it as an Elder Dragon, (one that hunts other Elder Dragons too) and said that it nests at the sky corridor similar to how Fatalis nests at Schrade.
and if it combined the power of its ice breath with that of Ukanlos, Barioth (Frostfang, too), Glacial Agnaktor, Goss Harag and Lunagaron and Aurora Somnacanth (and neither one is officially released). and if it gained and combined the poison of Purple Gypceros, Purple Ludroth, Gigginox, and *every last poison monster that's ever existed!* (Dreadqueen and Apex Rathian included)
Since this is an EDW monster born from parts of other monsters and elder dragons I could actually see Velkana as it's base then spliced with other monsters.

Did they forgot the pants on the female armor set? I know Monster hunter likes to include thigh windows on female armor sets. But even the Kirin pants seem properley dressed compared to these.^^

Seen different elder dragons in frontier, but Duremudira has become my all time favorite. It's theme really hooked me and then the battle itself was awesome.
Luckily for you I think besides the Zenith Species and this legendary ice fire dragon I dunno the name right now there should not be any harder things to come.

As awesome as this guy is, he absolutely HAS to not be a natural monster, even for an Elder Dragon. If he were to return in the mainline series, his lore needs to be "yeah, no, this guy is a biological outlier. There's no way this is an animal or force of nature in any way shape or form. He's either an actual alien, some sort of experimental abomination, the Equal Dragon Weapon, or some sort of demon. This absolutely cannot feasibly be a monster, Elder Dragon, BLACK DRAGON, and so on."
??? Why? Literally everything this monster did was confined to a single room. Meanwhile you have mainline monsters that can crush entire mountains and rearrange landscapes. Creatures that can fly at supersonic speeds or can fire beams powerful enough to destroy airships in the sky while being basically underground.

There is an elder dragon that they attempted to create as a weapon, but Duremudira is not it.

Seen different elder dragons in frontier, but Duremudira has become my all time favorite. It's theme really hooked me and then the battle itself was awesome.

As awesome as this guy is, he absolutely HAS to not be a natural monster, even for an Elder Dragon. If he were to return in the mainline series, his lore needs to be "yeah, no, this guy is a biological outlier. There's no way this is an animal or force of nature in any way shape or form. He's either an actual alien, some sort of experimental abomination, the Equal Dragon Weapon, or some sort of demon. This absolutely cannot feasibly be a monster, Elder Dragon, BLACK DRAGON, and so on."
??? Why? Literally everything this monster did was confined to a single room. Meanwhile you have mainline monsters that can crush entire mountains and rearrange landscapes. Creatures that can fly at supersonic speeds or can fire beams powerful enough to destroy airships in the sky while being basically underground.

You can't make a better magnet spike until Zenith monsters because the weapon was only added to the game after zeniths
