Smart Hulk has always been a completely idiotic concept, at least to me. The entire Bruce/Hulk dynamic borrows very heavily from the book "Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde", where a well-meaning scientist experiments on himself only to have it horribly backfire. The book actually has Jekyll kill himself in the end, to prevent Hyde from being unleashed on the world...but the people at Marvel chose to temper that.

I'm kinda torn about a couple things. I like how he built a friendship or understanding with Hulk and he's become a little more relaxed, friendly, and accepting, but Hulk doesn't seem to have the cool increasing strength (with anger) from the comics and Banner is still unsure of himself. He should know who he is and that he's trying to do the right things and Hulk is now tame enough to be used in good ways and accepted by people, but he's not angry enough to use Hulk to his full strength, NOT TRAINING/PRACTICING activating/fighting (unlike every other hero, which is awesome progression with them), and can't seem to be open enough to people and at peace. Hulk's emotions inside him and the risk of him emerging probably limits his peace, but Hulk's not a monster anymore, just an immense powerhouse with some control issues.

Love the realism in Ruffalo's acting. The time he's overly cautious, paranoid, as if at any moment everyone in the room is suddenly gonna start aiming their guns at him, or like if every time he walks through a door the SWAT Team is waiting on the other side or something.

There is that, but it really is more just a simple sense of panic of being among so many people he doesn't know in a place he is completely unfamiliar with. As he's spent so much time in solitude or in places he's prepared himself to be amongst people, such a situation does spawn a bit of panic. I know because that's exactly how I'd be.
