What you're saying about being thoughtful, creating trust, hiring a great team is all spot on. Great insights.
The ideas about psychological safety at the end, though, seem off base. Psychological safety isn't about deluding yourself into job protection or pretending there isn't risk involved (or pretending that competition doesn't exist). It's about supporting the conditions that allow for the best possible work outcome-that means not humiliating, belittling, or punishing people. That's it. That's the whole point of psychological safety at work. Being able to share ideas freely, challenge them, engage in debate, and not be punished for them. (People get this wrong across so many different POVs/backgrounds/politics, too.) It's not about making people feel coddled, either. It's about rigor, clarity, process, and trust. What you said about trust is it. That's the point that matters.

Jason, feels very much like an American thing, over rotating on recession, layoffs, etc. I work for an American company that went through a few rounds of layoffs but being based in Asia, the emphasis is all on, let's move onward and deliver success for our customers. Very different but aligned to Frank's approach. Ironic isn't it 😂

@55:30. This seems to be what Snowflake is thinking right now. However, I know they will make it through. It is important be tough as nails but have empathy. Like Jeff Bezos says, it is hard to be kind. Great podcast from from Molly, Jason & TWiST.

This is being run as an ad and it’s pissing me off. But thank you @I, Lemaire.
