GSE (Gnome Sequencer Enhanced) macros are not inherently bannable according to Blizzard’s Terms of Service, as long as they adhere to the rule of “one button press equals one action.” GSE allows players to create complex macros that prioritize abilities, but it still requires a manual button press for each action. This means it does not automate gameplay in a way that would violate Blizzard’s rules against botting or automation. However, using GSE in conjunction with external programs, such as mouse or keyboard software that automates multiple actions with a single key press, is considered bannable. Blizzard’s rule is clear: each key press should result in only one in-game action, and any use of third-party programs to automate multiple actions can lead to a ban . So, GSE by itself is allowed, but you must avoid using any external software to automate or enhance its functionality beyond what Blizzard’s in-game API permits.
However, there are cases where people got banned for using GSE and having inbuilt mouse macro softwares on their pc, while using this software has been denied by banned individuals it still leaves a questionmark
Yeah, this is my understanding as well. But to make a slight correction to what you said. There is no priority system in GSE. You can use priority blocks in the creation of the macro but the final spell list (as seen in the Compiled Template) is simply a list of spells cast one after the other. That list may well be populated with 1 spell more than another making it more probable that the spell is cast but GSE does not prioritize, its just cycles through a list 1 after the other, until combat resets and its starts again.

After some thought, the purpose of this addon is quite obvious. The user is either 1. Old or disabled 2. Tired of playing the game legitimately so they’re clearly using it for farming an item or gold with minimal effort 3. They’re just plain lazy which is basically just #2 again It’s definitely NOT against ToS. In conclusion I think if you have resorted to using something like this to play the game, then it’s probably time to stop unless you physically cannot press multiple buttons in quick succession. I’d also like to add that this could possibly be used with some other 3rd party software to appear like a real player, when in reality it is simply a bot pressing the same macro over and over again while following the tank with target of target. In general, I truly do not believe an addon like this should be encouraged because it could enable unethical play. That being said, here we are.
The WoW macro system clearly includes restrictions like not being able to check if an action is usable(on cooldown, for example). Restrictions clearly designed so you cannot automate actions and decisions. The obvious example is being able to do the whole rotation logic with only one button. This addon breaks those restrictions, ergo should be banned. It's that simple.
Press esc, 6th option is Macro. The same Macro that the Devs added to the game. So you want the Devs to ban what they added. The addon runs what the game added, Macros. You should be banned, it is that simple. You should be banned from any interaction with anyone.

where can i find that arms macro?
I haven't released it yet because its sub-par dps
@@nieubarmy no worries, thanks
This is fantastic as an explainer 🎉.
Thank you mate. I'd been looking for a decent explanation on line but couldn't find one that made it nice and clear. I'm glad that this makes the addon easier to understand.
How does with work in PvP? Jw
It works the same as shown in the presentation and can be a viable approach depending on the class and spec. I've had some PVP success in the past using GSE
Just play elemental shaman. Pretty much 2 bottons
Playing Enh atm (my first Shammy) I'm loving it
do it plz for ele shama :)
I'd love if macros were removed
Why? You don't have to use them if you don't want to! Whats the downside?
@@nieubarmy some times while in pvp you get nervous and misclick an attack breaking the rotation. pressing the same button all over makes the encounter less personal imo. it's true macros are no cheating cause there's the same GCD for everyone, but macros are compensating skill in some cases.
@@antoniocastilla6331 Yeah, I get you. Would be great if PVP was set as a standard mode for everyone, no mods, no macros just classes and skill. Would separate the pros from the noobs fa sure
Great explanation ;)
Thank mate, was a difficult video to edit - so much more gos into it than youd think
GSE doesn't work in new expansion
Ive been trying so hard, if you get it to work let me know
It does mate, its just different now as you have to keybind the sequences in the addon
Work fine, you need new macros, the old macros dont work
And you need to keybind de macro
@@nieubarmy thank you will try that.
wont let me use in pvp :D
What do you mean it wont let you?
very complicated
I agree that some people find this complicated and get confused

Hmm, time to GFYS now bot!!
So, just because the compiler can combine the use of many macros, what it is also doing is checking conditions in a priority list. Some of those conditions are not legal and the addon uses them. This reminds me of people who use AHK to script and others use it for multiple inputs on a single key press. It's a gray area thing where part of the addon/3rd party program has the capability of doing illegal things. There are macroing mice out there that can get you banned if abusing something like that. THIS IS BANNABLE BTW . Just because nobody has been banned yet doesn't mean blizzard hasn't seen it. Check out some forum posts. If its not just combining macros you already have then its going to catch up with a lot of folk. Maybe it wont blizzard is half assing shit right now and hardly paying attention to classic cata. But clearly having the addon that decides a key press with better logic than standard macro API is beyond against the rules so good luck to those who wish to risk it or think its not against ToS. Just because there are lots of videos on it defending it doesn't mean any of them have correct info. Because the majority of them are spreading misinformation. Now if you can link me a blue post response saying this is OK, then by all means link it. Otherwise you all are living a pipe dream pressing 1 button tanking. There's a reason macro API is limited on conditionals...
GSE doesn't check conditions at all (not as far as I know). As I said in the video, to the best of my knowledge, all that GSE does is attempt to cast macros from a list 1 after the other. If it is possible to cast then it casts, if not it attempts the next. Please provide me evidence that GSE 'checks conditions in a priority list' so I can correct my previous statements and inform my community.
Just buy a Logitech G13 ....

this is the old GSE Addon! The actual one works different!
@@marantis-tv this is the one for Classic wow.. how does the one for retail work differently? By the way, I don't believe that you're correct. As far as I'm aware the retail version functions exactly as described in this vid but I am super curious to hear what you have to say!
@@nieubarmy with the war within the rules for macros has been changed. Since TWW its forbidden, that a macro calls another one from an addon. So, GSE-3 produce no macros anymore. More infos u can find in the official discord or in curse. The GSE-3 dialogs has been changed as well. So i can see that u don't work with GSE-3 retail version. The good news, GSE-3 works. the bad news ... u have to rewrite your GSE-Sequences. And by the way ... GSE-3 doesn't work anymore with the addons bartender or dominos
@@marantis-tv I have characters on retail that use GSE3 and I use Dominos for my UI - no issues at all. You can see me on my Warrior in this video (with the dominos bars shown) th-cam.com/video/LsMEl9XxM4w/w-d-xo.html
Although the compiled template has changed in GSE3 (now one complete LUA script it seems) the sequence of the macro still works the same as I have shown in the video (it cycles through the list until it lands on a spell that is castable). As far as I can see, everything I said in the video is the same for the retail version.
I appreciate that GSE3 has undergone changes in TWW but your statement that 'the actual one works different' (with regards to the information I have given in this video) is incorrect. GSE3 works exactly how I described! But AGAIN if my information isn't accurate and the 'actual one works different' then please explain where I am wrong, I really want to know. What is different in GSE3 to what I have explained in this video?
doesnt work doe macintosh
interesting
@@TonyJ1776 it will install and populate the addon list though
macro kit is working
What do you mean exactly? How doesn't it work? There's gtta be a work around because I have community members that use Mac
After some thought, the purpose of this addon is quite obvious. The user is either
1. Old or disabled
2. Tired of playing the game legitimately so they’re clearly using it for farming an item or gold with minimal effort
3. They’re just plain lazy which is basically just #2 again
It’s definitely NOT against ToS.
Everyone has the right to opinion but not the right to be right!

@@ddshadow3774 por que?
@@RainWalking Ok, you clearly cannot read.
So let me make it as simple as possible: Blizzard macros have restrictions built in that GSE violate.
@@JustDoIt12131 GSE runs multiple macros so how is that a violation? I asked a GM today and they said it is not a violation.
Cannot read? What you raised with that attitude or were you just a mistake?
@@RainWalking You asked a GM today? In what context does a GM speak to you? Do you know GMs are instructed not to green-light any addon? I just saw a blue post by a Blizzard employee saying that, after a guy spammed in several forum threads a question about GSE being illegal or not. I imagine it's because if they say an addon is legal and then said addon changes, people can be mislead as a result.
So basically they make the effort to make it impossible to execute several cooldown abilities checks with a single macro(and therefore a single key push), because they don't care at all about being able to do that?
Also, why would hardware macros be illegal, if Blizzard allowed exactly the same result with GSE macros? It just doesn't make any sense.
@@JustDoIt12131 Oh what context? Well to speak to a GM you put a ticket in. I had an issue with something and when they asked is there anything else. I just asked the question and they gave an answer. Also stating that GSE runs 1 macro after another. People used a sequence macro that did the same thing as well. A guy spammed in several forum threads. Yes we all know that you are speaking about yourself.
GSE was originally made for people that are disable. But you claim people that are disable are cheating.
Out of all the videos on the internet, you chose to target this one only. You chose to "spammed in several forum threads". So you incriminate yourself on what you blamed someone else for.
You also state that addons are UI only and that is also false. But you also claim Addons that do not do what the game does naturally is cheating. So ElV UI, the game does not do that, so that is cheating in your disturbed mind.
This is way to automated. Ill get riot involved. Just because the player physically has to click a button doesnt make this not automated.
whats RIOT?
This shit should be banned. This, + an autoclick mouse, so you can just hold down a button, set to click the right amount of times per second, and you can have perfect rotations every time without doing anything. It's not playing the game anymore, though. Why not just watch a stream of someone else playing at this point...
Please tell me how to have the perfect rotations every time, share your wisdom
Aye i would like to know how that would be possible too plz
@@patrickmens446 I don't think we will get an answer on this mate.. I don't think it's possible as I stated in the video, How can u factor in procs and cooldowns and get a perfect rotation??
@@nieubarmy its already a thing in retail, and has been for a while. ele shaman perfect rotations, reacting perfectly to procs etc, and all you ahve to do is hold down a key on your razor keyboard that has autoinput, or whatever the feature is called. you can set it to however many inputs per second you want i think.
Try a perfect rotation vs a macro. Oh you cannot, because you do not play the game anymore? So you make a statement you cannot even prove.
The whole video is click bait.
Clickbait typically refers to the practice of writing sensationalized or misleading titles and thumbnails in order to attract clicks and views. The title of this video is addressed by showing exactly how GSE works with a detailed explanation and visual aid. The Thumbnail highlights the common misconception that players will get banned for using the addon and this question was also addressed in detail in the video.
