Massimo got to know and love Alberto as a person and when it was revealed to him that Alberto was a sea monster, Massimo realized he had been wrong in his beliefs about sea monsters all along. This is just randomly put together BUT in the end credits of Luca, everyone in Lucas school knows that he’s a sea monster, does gulias mom not know that massimo’s OTHER child was a sea monster? Oh my gosh, your theories make so much sense! Thank you for using your time on 4th of July to make this video for us. You're so sweet. Have a good night
i mean my theory is that when alberto was born his mom died- and thats how she revealed she was a sea monster. so when albertos dad found that out he was a lil upset. and when he washed the baby (bcs thats what you do right?) he found out that alberto was a sea monster. so when alberto got a little older he left him. that my theory
Adding to the theory, I would like to suggest that the whole "La Luna" short represents only a dream of Alberto. This would fit the surreal plot in the short with them going to the moon via a ladder. In the same way, Alberto could have dreamed of his father having both his arms, which would also explain the difference between the father in the short and Massimo in the film.
Fun fact: One of the producers is a producer who produced “La Luna” which is the film you doubted was alike, but is it just a coincidence? Also Theory: what if Albertos father was named Bruno because when Luca asked “why is his name Bruno?” Alberto acted very strange about it giving a nervous laugh replying with “it doesn’t matter” THIS IS ONLY A THEORY
hmmm I've heard the "Bruno theory" many times before, and I think he probably just heard a random sailor say it (he learned "What's wrong with you, stupido" the same way) But it's still a great theory!
Honestly, this is the best theory so far about who Alberto's father is. All the other ones didn't really make sense but this one does in my opinion. And I have seen a lot of other theories because I really want to know. Great job on the video!
Something that might add a little to your theory: When Massimo steps up after accepting Alberto and Luca at the end, the other sea monster hunters back away--it's clear that they won't fight with Massimo. This could be why he initially put on the obsessing with hunting sea monsters, as a means of protecting Alberto. I don't remember the exact moment, but I'm pretty sure there was a moment in the movie while they're out on the boat where someone mentions Massimo protecting the town from sea monsters. If Massimo is like...the head sea monster hunter, he's the one that hunts them for the town, this is a way he can protect his sea monster son. There are some holes in the theory, like you said, but at the same time the coincidences are just too much, haha. Personally, I like that he said he was born without his arm--it lends to this idea of disability as a normal part of life, rather than a trauma caused by a creature who is supposed to be symbolic for marginalized communities, however I can see why you would include it in your theory. This was super interesting! Thank you for posting!
He’s actually 14 in the movie, and I’m guessing the tally marks are days so I’m thinking his dad left about 2 years before the movie took place… also Massimo and the dad from la Luna do look kinda different, also the dad from la Luna has a right arm and Massimo was born without one
@@eduardodudu9626 nope Massimo was born without an arm because the movie takes place in the 50s and pixar needed a reason for him not to be able to fight in the war
@@Plantixbojina_____6_9 no. Have you seen what sea monsters look like? Do you really think they would eat someone’s arms? I’ve watched this movie many times, and during one of the watches, I looked at all of the farmers in the background. None of them would eat an arm. That’s basically every sea monster there.
Remember a child’s hair can change while the person is growing, my sister didn’t get curly hair until I don’t remember- I just remember she didn’t have curly hair as a baby- or- toddler
I noticed something!! If you watch the deleted scene at the carnival, they go to see a movie at the theater and the movie that plays is La Luna!! I’m not sure if this connects in any way or disconnect your theory…
When Alberto says he touched the moon I think he was thinking he was touching a reflection of it in the water and when touching it he touched a finish because when I was younger I thought the same thing. 😂 is quite funny thinking ab it
I love the connection you made but I can't look past the fact he was born with a missing arm, I don't think he was lying about that. Also I don't think he would hold such strong prejudice against sea monsters if he actually met and fell in love with one HOWEVER, what if Alberto's dad is actually a brother of Massimo? That could explain the resemblance. Massimo's resentment of sea monsters could stem from his belief that a sea monster somehow corrupted his brother and later was responsible for his disappearance. Maybe Massimo was fond of Alberto instantly because he was reminded of his brother when they were children. I think an uncle inviting the son of his lost brother to stay with him is a much more plausible story than a man just abandoning a 6 year old kid and then later deciding he wants to take care of him after all when he's already more capable to take care of himself. I can't imagine Massimo doing this, he seems like a great dad and caring person, who wouldn't just leave a 6 year old stranded on an island
Thank you for this comment. This makes so much more sense than the video essay. I really kept on hoping that this video would switch from claiming that the man in La Luna was Guilia's dad to claiming that he was some close relative because her dad WAS BORN WITH ONLY ONE ARM so he's obviously not the dad in La Luna!!
I agree!!! As a parent It has been my experience that if you do not want the child when they a younger then you really do not randomly just decided that you want them later when its more convenient for you. Plus Massimo is suchhhh a good dad who really cares and loves his daughter i really find it hard to believe that he would not have tried to be there for his son.
Massimo seems like a good dude and I think it's clear that at the very least, he's not bothered by having Giulia around for the summer so it seems strange that he would allow his own flesh and blood to be living alone when he's a couple minutes away and child-free for most of the year. If he's his uncle, it makes more sense that he would just accept that the mother brought Alberto back to the ocean, if he was his father, and a fisherman, I'd think he'd go searching til he found him.
To be honest I think this was a really good video, and theory. But there’s one thing maybe that Little boy could’ve been Massimo. ( but this is the best theory I’ve heard!)
I thought that Massimo could be the father bc the way he changed his mind when he saw alberto at the end and how fast he was to take him in but that would mean that he was (or could) be a sea monster and he didnt turn into one when he got wet and if he was one Gulia would be one too or half a sea monster
@@yoginidharmadhikari6344 that apparently a sea monster which is theorized to be Alberto's mom ate it. But he is clearly joking and says he was born that way.
Them being brother and sister would explain the sibling vibes they give off like how alberto is always pissed that luca hangs out with julia, how siblings get pissed when their friends hang out with their siblings. I love it
my theory. alberto’s mum was also a sea monster. when alberto was young his mum left to sea, but never returned. his dad packed to leave in search for her. alberto wanted to come and help as he was a sea monster and his dad wasn’t. his dad refused. he left and all he said was “you’re old enough to take care of yourself” or he just didn’t love him, yk 😆👍
in Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs, Julia's father looks like Flint's father and Flint's father also fish's and Flint's father sells the fish or eats them and Flint's father also lives near the water
Her dad isn’t the same person as the dad in that short, the dad in Luca the dad had no arm and he said he came into the world that way but the guy from the short had 2 arms, the creator probably just didn’t wanna make a new character for it
Also La Luna and Alberto are different skin tones and hair types. Plus if Massimo had abandoned him then he would’ve had to of done it while Alberto was very young and incapable of surviving on his own meaning Alberto would be dead. Plus he has no features to show he could be half human. Nothing that separates him from full blood sea monsters anyway
@@pandarogy2506 but in la Luna what if he didn’t know he was a sea monster and Alberto seemed smart he could survive and the dad owns a fishing job so he probably got a tan and the hair he probably has his mother’s hair and probably a mix of his skin tone and her skin tone
I think the theory is interesting, but I don’t think Massimo was joking about the arm. It was so refreshing to have a disabled character without a tragic backstory
This literally made so much sense.. 5:23 surprised me tho... since they both have the same director it would be a really huge coincidence if it was an accident
Having looked at this again, I think the boy in La Luna is Julia's father & the older man who looks like him is actually his father. So Julia's father, grandfather & great grandfather are on the boat in La Luna.

so, my husband thought that, if u think about the point in time that this movie is based, Alberto's dad may have gone to the human town, and been drafted into the army to fight in ww2.
Some of the creators of the movie said this takes place during the 1950 - 60's ww2 takes place from September 1939 - September 2, 1945 and there are 382 days on the wall, I am not onboard with the theory but maybe alberto's father died during the war totally makes sense 👍
I actualy believe that he fought a sea monster for alberto's mom but dini't want the same to happen with his son because the people of the city well you know are like: KILL KILL KILL!
I agree Alberto’s father was fighting a sea monster and that he didn’t want to show it when he was with the other people, but I don’t believe it killed Julia’s mother bc at the end when she is b6 the train to go to school, she says she will stay with her mom and go to school.
The only reason this is wrong is because Gulia’s dad states in the movie that he was born without an arm, and the father used to hunt sea monsters, and the child didn’t turn into a sea monster falling into the water
I just want to point these out not trying to be mean 1.he could be lying 2.he could not have known the mother was a sea monster 3.we don’t know much about albertos childhood other then the fact his father left him but idk
@@chopchophowdydo Maybe because the father is human so he developed that ability later. Just like how invincible got his superpowers later than expected for the alien species his father is
Here’s the thing, wouldn’t that mean either the dad or Gulias mom is a sea monster? This theory u gave out makes sense but still how would Alberto be a sea monster then
@@bloodsuczz0000 they don’t respect that the creator said it was just a theory I hate people who say something is canon when it could be something so different
When I watched this movie I thought for sure Lucas Uncle was the villain and that's why there was hunters because of his uncle. And I was waiting for his uncle to pop out, out of nowhere scarying everyone. But I guess they decided to leave it as a mystery about him. For Luca was going to stay with him in the deeper part of the ocean.
Ok, but the father in luca has 1 arm. Plus he says he was “born with it” so he couldn’t have ever had 2 arms. I don’t really think he’d joke or lie bout that
I just watched Luca and wondered who is Alberto's father. I'm glad I stumbled on this theory because it makes sense. From what I can make out of the movie, Alberto said something about he always do something bad and that's why his father left him. I think that at some point when Alberto was a kid he was exposed as a sea-monster. To protect Alberto his father pretended to kill him or atleast scare the sea creature away from the people. To stop (scare) the people from hunting sea monsters he sacrificed his arm to make it seem like the sea creatures are vicious. It seems pretty solid too because the townfolks relies on Massimo in terms of dealing with sea creatures because he is the only one who had "encounter" with them. Then his father met Guilia's mother (idk if they're divorced) making Guilia and Alberto half siblings (both are free spirited and strong willed AND whipped for Luca)
@@bunniihopz4828 No bc in this theory the both have the same dad but different mom so they are half related meaning they are half siblings step siblings means they have different birth parents
My theory: Alberto's mom didn't tell his dad that she was a sea monster, so when she gave birth to alberto, she died but you have to wash a baby once their born then his dad found out that he was a sea monster and abandoned him
That actually makes sense, but if Alberto’s father abandoned him then he must be alive right?Imagine if Luca finds his father when he went on the train, that would be awesome

so when albertos dad found that out he was a lil upset. and when he washed the baby (bcs thats what you do right?)
he found out that alberto was a sea monster. so when alberto got a little older he left him. that my theory
@Rhythm Celiz it’s not
I like this theory
But your theory doesn’t explain who Alberto’s dad is
pretty sure i saw this on tiktok
Wouldn’t Julia remember him from childhood though?
Adding to the theory, I would like to suggest that the whole "La Luna" short represents only a dream of Alberto. This would fit the surreal plot in the short with them going to the moon via a ladder. In the same way, Alberto could have dreamed of his father having both his arms, which would also explain the difference between the father in the short and Massimo in the film.
And maybe he had this dream after meeting Massimo, because he saw him as a father figure, he made him the dad in his dream.
Wow...grate theory
In the short movie ciao Alberto you can see Alberto calling Massimo "dad". That could mean that he recognized him after a while?
Fun fact: One of the producers is a producer who produced “La Luna” which is the film you doubted was alike, but is it just a coincidence? Also Theory: what if Albertos father was named Bruno because when Luca asked “why is his name Bruno?” Alberto acted very strange about it giving a nervous laugh replying with “it doesn’t matter” THIS IS ONLY A THEORY
THATS WHAT I WAS THINKING
hmmm I've heard the "Bruno theory" many times before, and I think he probably just heard a random sailor say it (he learned "What's wrong with you, stupido" the same way) But it's still a great theory!
A FILM THEORY
I don't think so apparently they say silenzio Bruno in Italy

One last thing.. Alberto has light green eyes and the boy in la Luna has deep blue eyes

Agreed.
Also I don't think he would hold such strong prejudice against sea monsters if he actually met and fell in love with one
HOWEVER, what if Alberto's dad is actually a brother of Massimo?
OMG YES! This can also go along with the theory that his dad’s name is Bruno hence why he calls the voice that disciplines him “Bruno”
