You need to dig that privy! Some of the best bottles come out of them!

I'd go back and dig it out for glass and sift the dirt for other stuff.

When I'm totally constipated and know I'm going to be awhile , I like to sit in the privy and work on a sampler . But darn it ! I always drop my thimble !

Down here in Florida, we dig all privy holes. They throw all kinds of stuff into them. Old clothes, bottles, dishes etc. To find them we use a ballbearing tipped 5 ft. stainless rod with a 12 inch T handle like your shovel. We probe and dig them out. You can use a screen, 24 x 24 3/8 or 1/2 mesh. You guys are walking over history at every cellar hole.

Loving your videos. I used to live in Brattleboro, VT, and would visit the woods across the river in NH. Unfortunately I couldn’t detect there, but I loved walking through those woods. Your videos bring back fond memories. Living back home in Scotland now, so I appreciate your videos a lot.

Super nifty finds today Charlie. I'm so glad you are a good terrain reader. Taking us to these old sites is always interesting, even the ants crawling up the tree. There at the end you were standing in the presence of one of the Ent wives. She looked so twisted with sorrow and age. I've always believed the Ent wives went into the West when the Elves began leaving Middle Earth. Which is why of course they can be found here. : - ) Have a great day!

Do you ever find cast iron fire backs? Decorated cast iron plates on the back wall of a fireplace that reflected additional heat in the room. They had great designs reflecting political and social sentiments of the earlier 1800s.
