Awesome shot Wiggy and great video may I add thank you for your service to our country I would like to say happy Veterans Day to you and all your brothers who served with you. Watching from South Carolina brother
I have an Indian Trade gun and the lock is engraved Wilson 1826. It is a converted flintlock to percussion. I have kept it in it's original but well used and abuse shape. I am sure it could be a shooter. It is my most treasured black powder gun.
Nice shot! Yeah, I have the same English trade gun. I took off the awful finish, and the wood underneath is beautiful! Just rubbed some linseed oil on it for 5 days. It's a process, but worth it to see the wood's true beauty.
Congrats on your first flintlock deer. Size does not matter, how it comes out of the frying pan does. I had contemplated purchasing a trade gun such as yours but had some doubts as to their quality. The distributor was located less than an hour away from my home. I asked if I could visit their facility and look over the guns available, I was told they would only ship. I opted out to spend a little more and got a Kibler Woodsrunner.
The Ghost Blind is effective, but would be more so if you added some lightweight camo cloth or netting on the sides. Another thing about those small deer - - they are very tasty! Thanks for the video.
I hunt the late season in PA I've gotten it Done with the flintlock previously but would really like to use my smoothbore brown bess at least once these Insights have been helpful mine seems to like the .730 ball I cast from a Marty arms mould.
Not really. I make an attempt to hunt the wind and I always wear rubber boots. I also stopped washing my hunting clothes after I get a deer. I figure dead deer smell a lot like live deer and it seems to be pretty effective. I'm not very popular around my wife when I got my hunting clothes on though, lol.
Hello Wiggy. I have the same Flintlock, gifted to me by my Lifelong Hunting Mentor. He had to get the touch hole drilled out also. My goal is to harvest a Spring Gobbler. Have you tried shot yet? If so what load combo. Thank You.
Hi wiggy , another great video and congratulations on getting another deer , one question i have is how do you unload it and a unload a normal muzzle loader if you don't fire it . We don't have them in the uk so trying not to sound stupid just interested thanks jim
Good question. The traditional way is to shoot it. If it won't shoot because the powder is fouled, you soak the barrel to neutralize the powder and use a rod with a screw on the end to screw into the bullet and then pull it out. It's a horrible experience you'll never forget! Alternatively, you can try to force some fresh powder into the flash hole or drum and hope it's enough to blow the bullet out of the barrel. The modern way is to use a Co2 cartridge to blow the load out. And with a modern inline muzzleloader, you can take the breech plug out and tap the bullet and powder out of the back of the barrel.
Pretty sure we are hunting very close. Is that the rabbit pen or whatever on wards chapel? If so I hunt behind the big white plantation house up the road that Randy now owns. And also on cotton creek right past you.
It's not very big. Just shy of 40 acres. Most of that is in CRP and super thick. Very little of it is wooded. But I have permission to hunt the wooded section just behind it, which is about 5 acres of woods, surrounded by more CRP wetlands. On this video, I was hunting a thin strip of woods that runs about halfway through the farm.
That's a donkey named "Jackson", lol. You can hear him in a lot of the videos from the family farm, along with the kennel full of beagles, roosters, and guinea fowl. Across the street, the neighbors raise Collies (they all look like Lassie to me) but they're not nearly as loud as our rabbit hounds!
The prayer of thanksgiving was very appropriate. Thank you.
Great job with the flintlock! Continuing to pray for your wife's recovery!
As a X Ga boy also you make us all proud. Never shot a flintlock before but it looks very interesting. God be with your family and bless your wife.
Always a pleasure wiggy.
The only person that has to be pleased with the weapon you use is yourself
Great videos as usual

I look forward to another trade gun small game video. thanks for taking the time to share your hunt with us.
Sometime around December or January I'm planning a small game camp if everything goes right. I know a spot with lots of rabbits and woodcock.
Awesome video here in Pennsylvania we have a dedicated flintlock season starts day after Christmas I’ve yet to get my first with the flinch lock
Any deer killed with a flintlock is a trophy my friend congrats on your harvest awesome job
Awesome to see you bagging some deer with various firearms! Interesting to hear about this flintlock.
Awesome video. True traditionalist. Keep the videos coming.
Always good videos and appreciated. A lot to be said for a fowler type flintlock, especially reasonably priced ones. Thanks for this one. Prayers...

Great video as always. Do you do anything different for your scent control since you hunt on the ground. Praying for you and your wife.
God Bless

I ordered it from Veteran Arms back in 2020. I took a few months to get to me, but it's been worth it.

I wouldn't call 750 dollars a junk gun
I absolutely do not want to see this on my feed!
Yet you clicked on it and commented…
