You Need To Hear This has the official video for the new single "Life Round Here", a collaboration between James Blake and Chance The Rapper.
The video, shot entirely in black and white, tracks Blake and Chance as they cruise in a lowrider through an eerie forest inhabited by stallions and Somalian pirates.
"I love juxtapositions," says the video's award-winning director Nabil, "so I thought I'd bring an old school lowrider to the countryside in England, and bring the two together in a way that makes people question things."
We also caught up with James, Chance and Nabil on set last month for an exclusive interview about the collaboration: noisey.vice.com...
James Blake appears courtesy of Polydor Records (UK), a division of Universal Music Operations Ltd

Coming back to this underrated gem 7 years later while smoking out my bedroom window at 3am. Life went by real fast.
I know right
just found a comment that i wrote under one of his first vids... from 10 years ago.. time flies
And life is still going
8 years
song just randomly popped up in my mind cant believe its been so long
James blake has to be the most underrated producer ever
Check out Sevdaliza. Same thing and she's amazing!!
He is the producer
one of the most underrated musicians/producers/singers/vocalists of this era... people just dont know and understand james and his work...
He’s not underrated anymore he just went commercial in many ways
@@Carolina-ji8pp did you really compare her to James? Have some respect for him... James is a different league...
if youre still listening to this 9 years later we all know good music! SO UNDERRATED
This is such an incredibly underrated piece of music.
OoAtowno0 It absolutely is not
@Gingerscantbepirates triggered much? 🤣
@@JC-11111 ikr he crazy 😆
That buildup before Chance’s verse gives me chills
Listened to it for the first time without chance and I was like respectfully, what is this emptiness in this song.
his best feature
I know I am fucking late but I'm glad I found this.
Music is timeless.
+Amanda Campbell so true.
lol just found this i love these mix playlists
This duet is syck. Love this track. James Blake is so soulful. He will be around awhile with that smooth Al Green crooner voice, and those Jill Scott poetic lyrics, his sound is what's missing in good music today. Chance the rapper is what REAL hip hop is missing today.
Same
Never would have put them together but it's amazing
exactly!!
+Raymond Curry they live together
+Raymond Curry I never would have thought of it, but now that they are together they really were a perfect fit and brought out such a different twist to the mainstream crap. I love how they're both pretty famous, but at the same time they remain low key and humble.
Just found this James Blake guy and he's amazing. Chance my favourite artist so you know how I feel already.
You feel like shit cause they didn't make more together?😂
u feel like cancer in a world where you realize your existence is so insignificant if you died right now the world wouldn't give half a shit
nihilistic shit lol
poor gibby
10 years later and still a banger. It’s magical. I could listen to this on repeat and vibe all day.
Coming back to this after james blake performance yesterday at boiler room/soulection 🔥
Making me cry for some reason seeing how old this song is and I don't even know why. I'm just here listening and processing my life back then
Me too
It does that to you.
maybe It’s sad because u know that moment Will never come back …maybe was a special time of your life
Exactly!
i love how these two artists of blatantly obvious styles came together and make such a melodic, fire, song
For some reason chance with his blatant style seems to jive well with others who have a distinct style. Especially soft melody. The juxtaposition is amazing like a tux when you ain't the Huxtables.
Original is great but this version is fantastic...chance knew how to approach it and kept that haunting feel to the track...so good
Chance - "I'm a chill pill addict, I wonder if God still magic, I wonder if Nas stillmatic" XD great line haha
This song would be awesome with James Blake and Chance the Rapper.
What?
I found this 3 years latter... and I'm in love with it. so late
Same
I'm with you on that!
Same
Kirra LeLand Saaaaaaaaaame
yeah. Agreed. I'm so behind on rap as well. Like, all of a sudden i'm recognizing that my favorite rappers already have several year old singles with mr blake. Just when i thought my music taste was up to date!
"Wear that fake smile like a cape" .. sick line
iluvpurplestew I thought so too.
Yes really dope. 😍
save yourself first
...save yourself first
Omg..They. Are. Just. Wow..Eyegasm..eargasm..wow.
omggg EARGASM FOREAL .....LOL
robin hood Lol ikrr
kael6946 Lol okay thanks. You're probably super ugly.. Considering the fact you have no profile picture
Heyyo EightyFour dont worry you look great. ^_^
KoNSouL Aww thank you (: and yeah I wasn't worried lol
HOW THE FUCK AM I HEARING THIS JUST NOW? IT'S FUCKING BEAUTIFUL!!
This is seriously giving me repeated chills..
Now I'm comming back almost daily lol
late
WZWZW I know.. that's the point of my comment.. I'm late af...
Same here !
I hate how much I like Chances wordplay, damn he clever
I feel like Chance went south from here. This Chance was untouchable
Right what the hell happened
You’re speaking facts 🗣🗣🗣
@@elijahgavin6706 he "found" God
I think it was more him, listening to his dad and brother, and letting them replace his management team, and not listening to his management team about the lack of effort that he put into the “big day”which left down the majority of his Fanbase
surprised at how good they work together
Same
i found this song by chance
Stop
+jaden king Never have you been so lucky.
+jaden king nothing is by chance...you were meant to hear it.
+Amu Cotty do you now get the joke? lol
+Amu Cotty Not*
10 years later and it still gives me chills
0:50 lol, I think chance is freezing his ass off in that shot,
"Blake, roll that roof up! It's cold nigga!!"
Nah he just chilling lol laid back in the whip cruisin 😎
+Lydia Nasreen I just realized that after reading your comment and I've watch this video countless times. lol
+John Smith And a raindrop drop hit him in the chin in the same shot.
ayyy
Chance makes the song so hype!!!
They're a bad ass duo
The white man can sing so good I can listen to this song all day
lmao I'd assume he's James Blake as "Chance the RAPPER" is the one rapping...
***** haaa good one
***** You're a real funny guy.
***** Freakin perfect haha
lol are you uncle ruckus?
Fantastic. Overgrown was my favorite album of the year, and this is an excellent remix.
Probably the best song of 2013
I love this song, it is bomb. Love it for what it is. Art is never finished only released.
"Art is never finished only released." those words have so much meaning to me, there's always more inspiration before releasing of any type of art. But you must let it go or it will never be. Thank you
Bro that spoke volumes, thank you
That tune. That goddamn tune is so smooth.
I remember when this song first came out, I listened to it at max volume with my headphones. The beat, the sound it made me feel weird like I was floating, then Chance's part came on and the constant "agh" in the back got me turnt asf and it was just the best feeling in the world. Too bad I can't seem to enjoy the song the same way anymore. Just a one time thing.
This song just popped into my soul and I forgot how much i missed it.
As I go purchase the track ✊🏽
Jane Blake stay making beautifully melodic vibes.
Then Chance of Chances brings that Anointing.
2021 Christmas is poppin
I remember when this video FIRST came out. I was like within the first 1k viewers. Still crank this shit. And I learned how AMAZING James Blake is
John Lamb Because it's exactly that, he seems to be new & I've never heard of him before this
Wow, never got wind of him. Thanks for the info, I'll look into his stuff
John Lamb He's actually been around since '09. Released a few songs, then put out a few EPs in 2010. His earlier stuff has less vocals though and is mostly focused on beats. He must've realized people like his voice, and then started singing more. I'm happy he decided to do so.
Shut up
I wish I was as cool and original as you!
It still bothers me that this song didn't blow the fuck up
+Da Maker Why isn't chance's shit not on the radio yet
+Hero Not enough mass appeal...some of his features have been on the radio tho. Honestly I look at it like you're doing something right if the radio wont play you...it means your tracks aren't completely transparent. Truly innovative music rarely gets fm time.
He's been all over late night recently. Lets see how that turns out. Angels only has 1 million views though (as a of now.). Which is really low. People seem to be asleep.
I'm so late... this is art.
9 years later and this is still incredible.
This song is extremely underrated :O I always come back to this song! I love it :D
+DansTube.TV i feel the same
People who just doesen't like rap always saying great rappers ruin the songs lol, no matter how great it is
Unreasonable critics. ..you right!
AllHail Fleezus and they are forgetting chance fans are watching this and being turned onto this james blake guy, never heard him before but i like his sound i think this song is sick
Exactly
comicnerd375 Spot on, I'm a huge James Blake fan now because I originally listened to this because Chance is one of my favorite artists.
AllHail Fleezus I think Noisia or someone was doing a show and Foreign Beggars were MCing. People were talking shit about the people "ruining the show" because they had no clue it was Foreign Beggars.
I love when two opposites attract and make magic
Ik ppl r here just for chance but James Blake is a wonderful singer
10 years later! WOW! WHAT A NOSTALGIC BANGER.
Chance could get me to listen to anything back then. If he was on it, I was there.
CHANCE IS DOPE AF
Fantastic Collaboration.
this might be there purest collaboration I've ever heard
Who still here 8 years later
this song was bomb shit. one of chances best verses yet.
the rap part is amazing! love Chance
Here i am TEN YEARS later, just heard the original by james blake, and i IMMEDIATELY went to youtube.
I'm glad I discovered James Blake.
The only issue with this tune is it's to short. Banger!
Chance just has that flow that will give you chills. Especially with this beat! :)
It's 2023 & life round here still feels like touch down on a rainy day 🌧
I don't care about anytHing else. IM JUST GASSED TO SEE JAMES AND CHANCE IN THE SAME RECORD.
my life is complete.
It's 2016 and I still don't understand how people actually disliked this.
2021 man
No way... obvious no taste.
I absolutely love this song & Chance sounds great but i cant help but to feel like Kenrick Lamar would've been a better fit on this song. I can only hope James & Kendrick collab someday. Anyone else hoping for the same?
No
man, kendrick and james blake would be awesome, but chance is awesome in this one
Well. They are touring the UK together this year, so
James Blake.. has such a lovely voice.. ♡
This song timeless
"Why every time I land in London, Land of Lincoln all on my mind?"
he's from Chicago
AshiColor Tv ik
+Tommy Bertrand yeeeee George it's Kramer
@Roy Monoki Bit late, but Lincoln is the name of a city in the UK, just a bit odd that Chance would shout Lincoln like that.
Tommy Bertrand because his fathers are from London lol 😂
james blakes words hold such powerful meaning with the little amount of words he actually does say within one full song which is really amazing and makes him super talented and a great writer. I have nothing against chance the rapper but i was hoping his verse would be stronger.
To the people who say the song is repetitive and doesn't go anywhere, try listening to his other songs and try to not think of the usual format of todays song structure. Its new & different so it'll take time to warm up to, but trust me the man is brilliant. James blake is good music.
The only part of Chance's rap that felt like it was going anywhere was the stream of thought that ends on "I wonder if God is still magic" I felt like if he kept following those trail of thoughts, the collab would have been more successful
James Blake and Chance the rapper in a very odd but wonderful video. "Life Round Here"
Here's a link to DL the song: rockdizfile.com/5ctnn031wvha
***** this is clearly software aka a virus don't download!
it's good. but good for you on skepticism.
***** really the file type is an application not what you'd expect when downloading a song my bad if this is actually legitimate though.
It is an mp3 not exe etc. But no worries. Thanks!
The part where he kept doing that voice shit he always does in the background once the beat drops was lit asf. That nigga chance was hella lit 💯🤘🏾
What a work of art.
Omg this sound is amazing. This was an extraordinary collaboration.
Ngl everyone came here for Chance but I’ve been a James veteran and I can tell you that man is a GENIUS!
Is it just me or does this song feel incredibly Short.
Kameron Sq. I think it's because the music video
@Gingerscantbepirates relax
great arrangements will do that to ya!
Masterpiece
I need them to make a whole album together, this song is so freaking good!
everything feels like touchdown on a rainy day ☔
SUPERFRUIT!
this video is sick.
i love james blake's music
THIS BEAT...THIS SONG...HIS VOICE..IS FFFYYYEEE
James Blake is a staple and Chance The Rapper is quickly becoming one of my favorite features...
im late and in love. this vídeo is so beautiful... the perfect black'n'white
One day I was high AF & said holy shit Chance sounds like James a lot on some songs aaaand... I'm here.
I'm the other way around, I got high and listened to James Blake LP and thought Chane should get on a song with him... I'm here.
masterpiece
Little hidden and forgotten about gem!
hard
Chance is a wordplay wizard!!!
Most slept on chance song
Hearing this song again, like hearing it for the first time.
Chills man....
tre good bought me here
yup
same lol
SuperFruit
Randomly remembered this song, best thing I’ve done in 2021 hands down 👏🏼
This is literally the greatest song i´ve ever listened to so far.
My life is complete.
this was dope. two of my favorites in the game right now
yo when @1:57 hits i get hype as fuck! its my favorite part of the song! lol
Salute, to two pioneer visionaries in the music world, most def...
one of the few songs and music vids that you see that have a deep meaning behind it.
They need to do more collabs like this.
just gotta shake my head everytime this beat drop.. so dope
Ikr
Roland Holbert beat dropped once I read your comment
A rapper like chance and a singer like James makes this song so beautiful
Edges been gone. Thanks, James.
1:56 That breakdown is fucking perfect.
I don't think this is Chance's best work, but dude is definitely a genius! But James Blake fucking killed this shit. I didn't know who he was but dude went off.
in, like a good way, or a bad way?
Good way!
I completely agree
Best thing they both did
the video has so many hidden meanings. Its great
