Rip Jeff Anthony. The many great people weve lost in mother G will NEVER be forgotten. I say a prayer every ride, for those around me, and for the many that have fallen in one of the most beautiful places I've ever had the chance to experience in this life.
Ride safe, and enjoy the incredible playground god has given us. Just remember its potential danger, be aware of them, and ride smart.
Brother, I'm truely sorry for your loss. I know exactly how it feels, unfortunately.
They live through us now, cresting every dune... Hanging g's through the big bowls.... sitting on top of the peaks, when the engine is off, and its just the sound of the wind, mother nature, and your thoughts. They are there with you. I feel the energy of those lost around me all the time.

Wow how tragic. I'm sorry for your loss. That happened to my wife in Oregon in the Hauser area. She was cruising along on her 3 wheeler and it was noon so no shadows and went off a 20 or 30 foot dropoff and hit face first. When I found her she wasn't conscious and her eyes were open with sand covering them I yelled her name a couple times and she came to gasping for air and had amnesia and all bruised up we rode her bent up wheeler back to camp it took about half an hour and took her to the ER where she stayed till the next morning. She made it ok but we learned a good lesson about riding at noon with no shadows and it carried over to the night as well Be careful if you don't know what's on the other side. I can still remember like it just happened yesterday seeing her lifeless body laying there with her eyes open and sand covering them. I prayed she would be ok and the Lord brought her back. I'm always thankful when we ride that we all come back in one piece.

Well, I’m glad your story turned out good. Yes, it has been a long time and it still feels like it just happens to me when I go there. I stopped going there for several years then I went back and lost the end of one of my fingers and another accident there. I did a video on that one as well that you may have seen. Since then, I’ve been back several times and can’t wait to go back again. Some thing about that place draws me back.

These stories must be told - Thank you! - It took me 3 years to learn my home dune system... And even now, I think about everything thats at stake each time I rip. How busy are the dunes, How has the topography changed since last season, Where not to go at night, Am i riding solo; who knows when to expect me back.... Its all such an incredible blast until you see someone busted up because of a tiny bit to much throttle or a tiny little bit to little caution for a few seconds.... Thanks again for telling your friends story.

Breaks my heart, having gone to Glamis for almost 40 years, I've busted myself up real bad. I really learned a deep understanding of how careful you have to be. We all must learn from these tragedies. Know what darkness causes, know what high noon does to your visibility. Always know what's next.
God bless him and all of you and please take the time to know what's on the other side.

Had my buddy crash at the coral pink dunes in Utah. We just got there and unloaded some things. I had to jet my quad still. He took off for a quick ride to see how things were looking. Some guy came flying into our camp and asked if we had a guy on a CR500. I followed him and found my buddy down. Same situation. He came over a dune and had a big drop off. He survived but broke some ribs and all bruised up. Scary times. Stay safe out there.

Don’t let it intimidate you. There are areas by the Glamis store that are very small and the further to the center of Glamis you go the bigger the dunes get. There’s something for everyone there.

    Sorry to hear this. 😢
Growing up in the 80’s , we would go to Glamis every thanksgiving. Oldsmobile hill in the day and competition hill at night with huge bomb fires.
This was before they would charge you to camp. You would just find a spot , and camp, no charge. Now it’s very regulated, I think mostly because of how many people would die every major holiday. Thanksgiving, new years , Presidents’ Day , etc. it’s an amazing fun place but very dangerous. I haven’t been to Glamis in 20 years. All my motorcycles and my toy hauler is gone.
I do have one 1979 IT 250 left though that I ride up in the high dessert sometimes.
Anyhow , every one be careful and RIP Jeff. 😢

My parents have been going out to Glamis since they were very young. One night they arrived on thanksgiving as well. Some dude on a banshee came flying passed their camp. Then we are going to ho for a ride and next couple of dunes over that due with the banshee. His buddies are pumping on his chest. And comes to find out that he did indeed pass away….. Glamis is indeed a beautiful place but you have to be smart about it because it will fight back. I’m very sorry for your loss.

I feel for you. Many years ago my great friend Danny lost his life to ALS. He was the same age as me. After my dad passed away in 2009, I did what my dad told me to do. Build your dream vehicle. I had a custom street legal sand rail built just for me. And it had a Bernie Bergman engine in it. A 2500 CC motor in it with a heavy duty 3 speed tranny. The tube frame was paint bright yellow, that was Danny's favorite color. After I got it I drove it in our local sand dunes here in Jax, FL. I had the owners permission. Plus I had my daughter model it for me. I used to take it to local car shows on a trailer. But my daughter would drive the truck and trailer in and I would drive the rail in. I always win the street legal class, because I drove mine into the show. But 9 years ago I had to sell my dream machine, because I had my left leg removed below the knee. I had it for sale for the longest time. Then out of the blue a man showed up at my job site and asked if he could see it the next day I had off and I said that's tomorrow. He came over to my house and was blown away. The whole front end was chrome, the floor was polished diamond plate and so was the roof and the center dash colume. I told him a high price and he offered me 25,000.00 dollars. I only lost 5,000 dollars. And I also told him about Danny. I received a phone call four years later on Danny's birthday, he he wrecked the rail early that morning. He had gone up a hill and did not know that there was a deep drop off. He was riding the rail in dirt. Just like your great friend. Your story reminded me of my story. Now I'm saving to buy a Argo Frontier with Adair Tracks. And a outboard motor. That way I can go trail riding or fishing. The Argo floats. Thank you for sharing your story. God Bless you and your family

I'm from Indiana and have been in AZ for about 20 years, I've been out to Glamis about half a dozen times and have been on dirtbikes, quads, Side by Sides and sand cars. I was so excited to go given I grew up watching videos like crusty demons and it was a big shock getting there and seeing how dangerous it actually was. If I'm following someone who knows what they're doing I can go pretty fast, but I still don't know how to read the dunes myself, and night riding is so sketchy. I'm even afraid of just breaking down. I had a friend break his rzr in a bowl and couldn't get it out so had to leave it out overnight and someone ran into his car and totaled it! Sorry to hear about your friend, be careful out there

I have had my share of close calls and made some very bad decisions during that time. I am one of the lucky ones. It is sad to hear storied like this because I know how quick something like this can happen. I know that excitement we fell as we approach the campsites in the distance. All the lights after a long work day. I feel it now just thinking about it. It is a feeling only those that know would know. I feel for you brother. Mrs. "G" deserves her respect 24hrs a day. Sorry for your loss friend. I also have experienced the loss of a friend at an outing to a MX track where we were super stoked to ride our quads. It had been a couple months in the planning. When it all happens, it happens so fast. One minute we’re resting on the side of the track , laughing and boosting who would hit this 75’tabletop, and the next you watch as your buddy bears down, snatches 3rd gear and unfortunately lands on top of another slow rider. It slammed him into the clay and as we watched him tumble and slide to a stop, that was the last he would ride. This was in 2007. I lost a great friend that day and so did a lot of others.
Please pay attention out there. It wasn’t nobody’s fault but shit does go wrong and the smallest mistakes can cost you your life.

I was guiding 2 kids new to the desert. They started crossing trails and not looking for traffic. I let one lead. When I finally got them to stop, I chewed them a new one. That was yesterday. Hopefully everyone can learn to be safe. But the guys out there don't have someone to tell them.

Hopefully, they watched this video and other videos like it to learn, proper etiquette in the sand. It’s a very dangerous place that can be one of the funniest places if you follow the rules.

@@MoJoh20the best way to honor your friend is to share his story. I was in an accident, officer thought I was dead and I probably was. I have PTSD but I don't want my kids to live in fear. I don't talk about my accident and most of it is a mystery anyways. Thanks for sharing this story.

I've had two friends end up in Brawley hospital from hard crashes in Glamis. One broke his helmet just like your friend on his dirt bike. The other was on a quad and hit a razorback at night. A few hours after he arrived as well. Both were in for over a week. I'm not a fan of night riding unless it's along the sand highway going out to the hill or something, although I still get talked into it sometimes.

I’ve been snowmobiling, driving race cars and motorcycling on the street and the trail for most of my life. I’ve been lucky that I’ve never gotten more than a few bruises. I’ve had a few close calls and now I only ride at 80% of my potential speed. I always leave something in reserve in case the unexpected happens and I need to make a move. But, it’s not a perfect plan and in Powersports, we all take a chance every time we go out.

Sorry about your friend. Based upon other videos I have seen, this happens during the daytime too at Glamis. I can see how dunes look like other dunes and misjudge where you at and inevitably make a huge mistake if you are flying... RIP Jeff Anthony.

So sorry to hear that. Seems like so many people have very similar stories about Glamis or someone they know or heard of dying or getting injured. I still love the place and can’t wait to get back there in November 23, but I’ve learned to respect it much more now. Thanks for your comment.

Thanks, man. Tore me up but sure glad you put it out there.
I was an excitable, invincible, Super (stupid) Man type out there and came real close a couple times. Hell. my dad pretzeled a frame off a razorback into a little hole once. He was ok but cursed that momentary lapse of reason. Even seeing stuff go down wouldn't slow me down. You know, "can't happen here"..
I'm not going to tell our horrible stories 'bout lost souls tho.
I'm old now and turned it down a couple notches but I think it's important to remind maybe the young how it works.
    Anyway, I feel your pain

I quit going to Glamis in 2008. Too many goofballs and dregs. You get these idiots with high HP rigs that only take them out a few times a year. Add alcohol and drugs and this is the outcome. Thanksgiving, New Years and Halloween are the worst weekends to go. On my last trip out there, a group of tweaker thieves went through the camps and stole hundreds of Scotts Dampers off motorcycles while families slept. Of the dozens of times going to Glamis, I'm done with it.

Yeah we lost a buddy out there do to a s car roll over at night, I'm not saying that my son and I haven't been night riding with a full moon but after a few n rides we figure that the lights would be on after the Sand drags and on Sand HWY back to the washes and put the quads in the trailer we rode old lT500s camp fire and a hole bunch of beers. Our buddy has a plack bolted to the concrete train wall at wash 15, Kenney Bishop was a good guy and I know what it's like to lose a buddy.
