I've watched alot of mono's other videos with different players, this group of musicians compliment him and his style (musical and personal) so well. They just seem to fit, I enjoyed watching this videos from this set. I hope this group keeps rockin.
WOW!!!!! Parliment Funkadelic meets Zappa meets ??? I would never have the cahonnes to wear that outfit. Two tunes and it felt like a whole show. These guys have a whole lotta fun play cutting edge AND get gigs! It don't get any better than that!
i think this might be my favorite version of Hot Cheetos. i listen to the original, the live in Memphis version and the jamjamm in Paris version w/ Larnell --i keep coming back to NSJ23. slaps so much harder. yeah i agree with @Drumminsince89, i think Dywane has found his lineup --which is also why this jam slaps. if npr invites for a tinydesk concert, i hope he brings these cats and jams the shit out of Hot Cheetos.
Huge Funkadelic/George Clinton vibes the way you go back and forth between funk drumming jazzy bass lines and absolute rock and roll guitar and then wrap it up in a beautiful r&b lead vocal. I hope you all go as far as the galaxies will take you!
great musicians! i can imagine auditioning for Mr Neon would be similar to auditioning for the Blue Man Group = ""hey what color are your underpants?"" um, wait i have the C-Maj scale at my disposal "underpants!"
Me neither, I would be interested in the answer. I was at a show the other day… And in the beginning I thought I was hearing a cowbell. I think it was a combination of the snare drum being tuned very high and tight… And being placed really high in the mix. Actually it was louder than everything else and it’ was quite annoying.
It's a really high tuning but the heads are working together really nicely giving it that impact. Sounds to me like that anyway. People get scared of high tunings, heh. He's also hitting very nicely in the center of the head with just the right amount of rim.
@@jasper36 Cool answer. I only know a teeny bit about drumming. I mean I have my own drum kit, but I don’t know about all the technicalities of the different kinds of heads and mixing and matching heads and tuning and all of that stuff. I mean I can do basic tuning, but I know there’s so much more to drums. Endlessly fascinating.
Camp pants guitar dude looks like the captain of the football team from my high school the 1970s. Give the man a letterman’s jacket with a big W and it’d be perfect.
MonoNeon is the other Thundercat. Or maybe Thundercat is the other MonoNeon. Either way, they're both artistic grandsons of Frank Zappa - brilliant, terminally goofy, and somewhere in-between jazz, funk, and prog-rock.
cant be as bad as those mascots at disney land in those huge stuffed suits. I bet you just get used to it; same with how when you go to a hot country a lot of people are wearing jeans and sweaters but you cant go out in anything less than shorts and a tank. Also chefs in a restaurant; it takes a while for them to get used to the heat; i had an ex who worked at an Izakaya and they have this dish in a bowl that gets fired up inside an oven and most of the other chefs would just reach in and grab it right away; no need for oven mits or a towel; they just got so used to the heat that it no longer bothered them anymore.
That snare sound tho. So crisp
Le trigger ajoute le crisp, non?
Wound up tighter than a rusted on Jam jar lid.
Those rim shots are so phat it's giving me a semi!
POP!
So awfull
I have this theory that MonoNeon has a grandmother who keeps knitting him things and he just can't say no...
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Mono Neon is an icon, world hero, peace bringer, funk layer, smacketh downer & over all gifted artist. Thank you for all you do for art-kind 🖤🖤

Agreed, this group adds so much together.
It’s back! Dunno why this was taken down but verrry happy to see it again, this version of banana peel absolutely fucks

Parliament Funkadelic meets Zappa. I see the vision. Yup.

MonoNeon, the snare sound, that solo on slippin, amazing!!!!!
i think this might be my favorite version of Hot Cheetos.

That snare drum is tuned to perfection! No words for the funk that’s coming out of this band.
those drums sound fantastic! especially the tight snare
I saw them live at Montreux jazz, it was one of the best concerts I have ever seen
sounds incredible LIVE!!!!!!!!
I never tried Hot Cheetos until I heard this song. I was like, they must be pretty damn good if he wrote a song about them. Thanks Mono!

Superbly sublime!
They can put me in the ground to Xavier Lynn’s Banana Peel solo when I’m done with this world.
This is the first time I've ever heard or seen him....I'm a fan. You'll have a great send off. 🙂
great musicians! i can imagine auditioning for Mr Neon would be similar to auditioning for the Blue Man Group =

The best
best thing: His Outfit !!!
I’m not really versed in drum technique or tuning, but - how does one get their snare to sound like that?
Me neither, I would be interested in the answer. I was at a show the other day… And in the beginning I thought I was hearing a cowbell. I think it was a combination of the snare drum being tuned very high and tight… And being placed really high in the mix. Actually it was louder than everything else and it’ was quite annoying.
In this case… Looks like the drummer is using really heavy sticks, and he’s really whacking that thing.
It's a really high tuning but the heads are working together really nicely giving it that impact. Sounds to me like that anyway. People get scared of high tunings, heh. He's also hitting very nicely in the center of the head with just the right amount of rim.

@@johnnyxmusic I was in the audience that evening, can confirm; That snare was by far the loudest sound from the stage xD
Aye!!
I hear a lot of Ozric Tentacles in this! Fantastic.
what else can you say…it’s THE ONE AND ONLY MONONEON…And we’re from the same planet🤣
🎸
Frank Zappa would be very proud.
I could be wrong, but I bet that guy's name is MonoNeon.
Slippin on a Banana Peel is a perfect record.
Mono N is ready for snowboarding
I want a sip from exactly what they took....to make the colors stay alive!
O guitarrista adotou a moda da meia também...😂
Bruh I cried when this was taken down 😂
Who is the drummer
His name is Devin Way
*DAT SNARE* 👋🏽🔥
The whole kit, killin it.

Wjat does mono wear when its hot outside?
I was at this concert and remember it being very hot. I felt for the guy.
Zappa, P-funk, trey anastasio exploring new galaxies, gobbling mushrooms and jamming with the alien overlords in the 12th dimension
Where is the whole show?😡😡😡🔥🔥🔥
WAIT A MINUTE!!! XAVIER LYNN??? WHAT?!!
Mono, the spirit of Prince Rogers Nelson is looking down on your group with so much pride between 9:04 and 11:08.
Yes he would be…listened to it multiple times
I would say that and the 7:00 mark with that seamless transition into “Slipping on a Banana Peel” 🤘🏽🔥
fak yeah!
These Cats Are On Some Different( KOOL AID)

So funny seeing the white guys singing about hot cheetos....love it!!!
TELETUBIES BASS.
That hot cheetos bassline is so hard!!! Everytime I hear it I make that ugly face!!! It just hurts so good!!!!💥💥💥
Thats your BASS FACE!!! ❤
good performance but snare drum sound has too much compression
Time for Tubby Toast.....Time for Tubby Toast..........
Play that shit way
young eric clapton on solo guitar...
LOQUITO !!!
His bass is strung for a right hander but he's lefty. Interesting
And he's right handed. 😲 He just plays the bass lefthanded.
Hot Cheetos aren’t good for you . But mononeon is
He has to be so so so hot 🥵 in that.
I give it a few years and he’s stop wearing that sweater on stage.

He ate some mushrooms .
anyo0ne remember frank zappa ? this has been done before
Why not a third and a fourth guitar? 🤔
Sock bizznnizz
Wow its a pity the sounds not too good...😢
When music is absolutely terrible and dope at the same time. It's something.
great music but mono listen brother you got to help the guitarist in green shorts make better wardrobe choices on camera man
I hear you but I’m not so sure Bradley Cooper would take fashion advice from Mono.
worst sound engineer ever. north sea jazz, get a grip on the live-recording sound. Its all over the place.
come out of the clown suit
Stop it. Be nice.
