    We all know that Flamenco was developed from Indians who fled the Indian subcontinent and fled to Europe, now known as "gypsies" in Europe or "Roma". They took Indian styles of dance with them including Kathak. The two dances are basically very very similar. Flamenco still retains all the core components of Kathak, including big flaring long skirt, foot work tapping, similar rythmic patterns, hand clapping, hair in bun, and flower in hair. Not to mention spins, hand gestures (called "mudras" in Kathak) and flexible wrist movement.

      sorry, but gypsies did not flee india. They are nomads. Your spanish language and grammar owes its origins to (maybe) Gypsies from india spreading sanskrit culture. But, the dance form was spread due to sea trade.;

      @Roshani Shiwakoti well, indian kathak dancers were taken by ship to Europe, where they spread their influence, and hence flamenco. The gypsies from india brought something far more. Language grammar.

    Tap or flamenco was rooted from Kathak. Flamenco is more Mascular, bold and full of energy.
    Kathak is feminine, graceful and powerful ❤️

    as history says.. Roma gypsies who originated from North india used to perform kathak 2000 yrs ago .. when Mughals invaded india they fled to Europe and other regions and thus originated flamenco ..hence both styles have similarities..

    Flamenco dance form originated from Indian dance kathak and indigenous Spain dance bought by gypys or Roma people who were originally Indians to Spain. Seeing this beautifully performed makes me feel connected

    Flamenco concentrates more on acoustics with the movement of the feet..whereas Kathak is more expressive with the whole body in use. There can't be any impression of performance pressure in the face while performing as the face itself is the most expressive part of the dance form in kathak. In flamenco its evident that the dancer concentrates on bringing out the right acoustics and therefore has a tense expression on her face. A very good art form. Kathak a more elegant and artistic form in the real sense.

      Dude, Flamenco dancers themselves learn the history of the dance. Yes, it is their culture as Flamenco, but the dance does have its origin from India, which evolved as the Roma people who took it with them traveled from India all through west Asia and Europe all the way to Spain and it was during this travel that it evolved into what is now Flamenco. Art and culture everywhere didn't all develop as single monolith
