They also had John Hadl, Jack Kemp, and even Jim Harbaugh and Jim McMahon. SD has always had strong QB play. But only advancing to one Super Bowl is an organizational failure.
Stan had the best all around Coach and staff. That matters. Plus they had Junior, Leslie, Natrone and the Bruise Brothers dline. Had they kept AMiller they might have won 2 SBs

The offense didn't hardly have the ball in the second half either.

Humphries was an underrated QB. He was tough and threw a nice ball. The lack of WR talent let him down in the Super Bowl. So many drops. He threw some dimes in that game.

They give the ball to Miami inside the 1 yard line, but they should have been awarded the ball out at the 20. Means actually fumbled the ball and it hit the pylon. That would have been a touchback for Miami. Instead Miami gets it at the 1 and is tackled in the end zone for a safety which is 2 points. Chargers win game 22-21. If replay was around that season, Miami wins this game.

Miami got jacked pretty hard by the refs in this game. Dolphins-Steelers in the AFC title game would have been interesting. This was the most balanced team of the Marino era, they could have beaten Pittsburgh too.
Chargers got jacked even worse. The game was obviously scripted for the Dolphins to play the Steelers in the AFC title game. But the Chargers beat the script.
