- Every spring, at the Missouri Cherry Blossom Festival, the descendants of U.S. Presidents descend on the quaint town of Marshfield, where they mingle with stars of classic movies and sitcoms. It's a celebration Mo Rocca couldn't miss.
John Tyler's grandkids are still alive. He was the 10th President. His grandson looks exactly like him.

However now that you bring it up, Jefferson Davis was the son-in-law of Major General and US President Zachary Taylor. Taylor didn't approve of the marriage, but after Sarah died the two grew close in their grief

You forgot that some presidents have no direct descendants. George Washington, James K Polk, James Buchanan have no descendants so you have to go by descendants of siblings of the president

Apparently in the 1860s, during his father's presidency, Robert Todd Lincoln slipped off the train platform at Jersey City - a man jumped down and saved him - the man was one Edwin Booth, brother of John Wilkes Booth and it is said that after the assassination that brought Edwin some comfort.

Well I mean if we take 1 person then they have like 3 kids, then there's three ways people could be a direct descendant. Then if the three kids have then even more relations open up. Somebody like Thomas Jefferson who lived hundreds of years ago has tons of generations for his descendants to multiply, so he could have hundreds of relatives living today.

@@mistermagoo8685 It's simple maths, really. Let's consider 25 years for a single generation and assume that every member of a generation produces two offspring. If you had 2 kids, 300 years (or 12 generations) from now you'd have 4096 (2^12) descendants.

Calvin Coolidge is a distant relative of mine, through a direct blood relative, Edward Doty, from the Mayflower. Doty was Coolidge's 9th great grandfather, and my 8th. It's pretty distant, but he would still be my first cousin (albeit ten times removed). I probably wouldn't be invited to anything like this tho, even if the people knew, because it's so distant.
I'm also just as distantly, if not more so, related to the descendants of Van Buren, but not the president himself really. His wife was a descendant of the Van Schaick family, from Cohoes NY.
There's speculation of others, but these I know can be proven. I even have documentation for the Edward Doty relation. My great great great great grandmother was named Tryphena Denison (married a man named Henry Carpenter in Cohoes), he father was a descendant of the Post family, who were direct descendants of the Doty's.
