Thanks for this vid. My Yaw 2 was just shipped, unfortunately also without the rotation base and the seat. Nevertheless, with your video I am at least able to build what I get next week.
@@ItsVRK After assembling it I definatily would attach the cables before the foot mount... the latter prevents you from pitching the chair in a way to comfortably work on the cables. Also in my case the drill holes for the plate to cover up those cables in the back of the seat are misplaced, so I can only resort to black tape to keep it in place. That should not happen with a device that costs 3500 Euro including shipping.
Still waiting on 2 of my boxes that got delayed for some reason so I have 1/3rd of a unit at the moment haha.. Watching this to prep. Nice to see the extruded rail on the side section as that means I can use MonsterTech attachments (or shoudl be able to anyway) but sad that the center doesn't do it the same way. In fact the way that center pedestal and table top are laid out I'm seriously concerned if I will be able to clamp my yoke/wheel/throttle/etc up there. Will have to wait and see but I fear I may have to spend some time in Fusion 360 designing up some various adapter parts to 3d print.
Hope the video helps when you do get the other 2/3's Monstertech ...or you could wait for my next video which will show how I mounted my flight sticks in the side rail area ;)
@@ItsVRK Unfortunately I don't have the metal fabrication capability that you have, all I have at my disposal is 3d printing. That said I've already confirmed I can easily slide off the single extrusion that the side mount comes with and slide in a MT double extrusion with no issue. So from there it should just be standard MT Lego at least for the side mounts. Still not sure what I'll do with the center but we'll see. In theory could go extrusions all the way out from the side to the center, just like in the MT chair mounts, but they tend to be less than sturdy as they get farther out, plus I'm concerned about how much additional weight the Yaw2 can handle. So probably going to keep this sim station a bit lighter than my fuller cockpit setups. Besides in VR you are kind of limited in how you can manipulate peripherals anyway since you can't see them. Anything beyond the basic HOTAS/Wheel/Pedals gets hard to manipulate anyway
I have to say what a disappointment it has been to finally get a machine I ordered over a year ago only to find that it is incomplete and damaged. My YAW 2 was delivered this week, so thanks for the video, it was quite helpful. It was not damaged in transit. it was simply poor craftsmanship and lack of any quality control. I ordered the unit with casters (wheels) however they shipped without wheels and charged me for the wheels which I had to pay import duty on. They now say the wheels were not safe so thay have been discontinued but they did not bother to let me know about this. Nor have they made any mention about compensation or refund. The base plate on the bottom platform was severely damaged due to overtightening or something similar. They agree and have said they will ship another one, but they have not said when it will arrive or how I should go about fixing it when it arrives. Next problem is that after assembly there are only 2 DOF working, pitch and roll. Yaw and the chair lights are not working at all. The response from YAW has been incredibly uncaring and unprofessional. Email replies to my questions give only the most basic information regarding possible solutions. The answer to the yaw DOF not working was "after you disassemble try pushing the connectors in and see if that helps" This company has taken a good product and are now killing it. Do not buy from YAW they are the most unprofessional company I have ever dealt with. You will not get what you order and whatever you do get will be faulty.
There are definitely users having issues. At least one that has been acknowledged by Yaw as affecting many recent recipients (they have confirmed they will be sending out replacement parts). I get that it's disheartening to receive it and have problems straight away, I'm sure they will resolve the issues for you eventually, but they are taking a long time to reply to some people, me included at times. I have seen reports of several users extremely happy once they have full unit working, it seems to be very worth the wait.. so keep that in mind I guess.. 🤷
Tks for posting this assembly video. Question, I'm located in the US, recently got the Yaw2 Pro Edition 2Dof and followed your Pre Check Power Voltage section. In my base pitch mechanism I see 2 stickers located around the internal power boards that say 110V/220V. Each sticker is by a switch, one is behind the mesh like you pointed out and another is below by a red switch. If I'm located in the US, should I switch both of those to 110V or leave them as is? Tks!
@@ItsVRK thank you! I'm glad I ran into your video, it would have sucked to have busted my setup because I didn't know. I wish stuff like this was really explained in the printed manual.
@It's VRK did your model have the 2nd voltage sticker as well next to a red switch? This red switch area is harder to reach and see for mine. It was located below the one that you talked about in your video. I'm still waiting to hear from the Yaw Support Department.
Sorry for delayed reply, was on family holiday.. I have 2 power supplies, one on top of the other. The switch on my bottom one is super hard to see, but was already set correctly I believe as my unit has been working on 240V here in Australia.
Good video I just received mine. After seeing numerous videos of others receiving theirs with damage. I begged them to make sure they package it well. They did not😭 Base unit damaged, missing parts, I can’t even assemble it. I noticed mine is a little different than yours. On your base unit, did the rollers have two different spots they could go in? Mine were all out so I don’t know which slot they are supposed to be in. Does your yaw bracket make noise when going side to side? I know mine is out of alignment. I know if I try to bolt the seat platform to the bottom the top is not even close to that silver part in the back. I am so disappointed.
This is really really so sad to hear dude, crazy for the amount of $$$ this costs and they are treating you kickstarters like ASS, They should be sued.
Probably a stupid question, but how the heck would you mount anything. You effectively have four holes left on the plate but you can get easy access to it due to the under plate screwed on. So how would you screw your steering wheel for instance unto this? My Yaw2 just came through and I am stuck with this issue and the only way was to clamp my logitech steering wheel to the curvature of the under plate which seems wrong.
Hello, what can I do, I have a complete get another kit it doesn't fit together, where you screw in M6 I have M5 sockets, but M6 screws! I'm really desperate! I don't get any feedback from you either. WHAT'S GOING ON THERE
Assembling today: Here are the differences as of 10 APR 2023 1:12: 2.5mm + 3m + 4mm + 5mm hex bits are now included in the hardware kit. 3:26 - ****CRUCIAL CRUCIAL CRUCIAL CRUCIAL**** Make sure you don't screw everything up after this point by putting the cable out the wrong side of the unit. Ask me how I know this. (15 minutes later edit: Hey, if you saved the step where you mount your seat to the seat tray for last, it's a snap to undo/redo. 3 in the fixer, 8 for the main tray, one to take your seat off. You can reach the unlock tabs easily through the 'slot'. Bam Bing Boom Done.) 6:09 Footplate: The pivot is now 3mm with an unthreaded flange x 8mm nut - it's a royal pain to get through the hole... I wound up putting the nut on and using a driver to pull the caphead through, then backed the nut off and could put the washers on. Kinda defeats the purpose of using a NyLock nut in that spot, but...it's serviceable enough. 6:57 - the holes aren't countersunk anymore, but countersunk screws are still provided. The footplate design is quite different now, as well. It looks like you can unscrew that big thumb-nut and take the whole plate off and leave a mounting surface. That isn't present anymore. The whole footplate has to come off now. 8:50 - Nothing marked M6x16s were found in my kit. There were 3x capheads that fit a 5mm hex driver in a bag labeled *FIX / 5x16* 9:09 - again, the right parts (8x countersunk) seem to be in a baggie labeled *5x16* driven with the 3mm hex driver. 12:07 - The Seat Fixer is now a regular 10mm bolt - no countersink, no hex head. 12:58 - The large plate bottom bracket is now supplied with pre-threaded inserts. 15:10 - this whole section is different now - the first Ethernet block is mounted inside, and not loose. There is only one multipin connector, and a second Ethernet on the left side. With the new magnetic feet, it's actually WAY easier to take the feet off the left side, roll the seat part left (so the pointy bit isn't sticking out) then roll the whole thing over on its left side. Gives you the space to pitch the unit without fighting gravity, and makes that space to work in GIGANTIC.

Hey did you understand step 8 in the manual? It is completely not in this video (I assume changes) but I am very confused by that step. EDIT: After reading ahead in the manual I understand now. It is just a temporary safety piece to hold the pitch platform up safely so you can get to the innards behind
On another note, a lot of Kickstarter backers of YawVr have not received their devices is there any reason you have not done a follow up video on the ongoing situation of the YawVr backers? They’re not even replying back to their backers, as a content creator do you feel you have a responsibility to report on this?
