I was sexually abused by my father when I was 5 and my life has never been the same. He ripped me from my innocence and a “normal” chance at life. I am 27 and just starting to get on my feet, I just graduated nursing school and I want my life so bad! I don’t want to let his mistakes determine my lifetime. I’m going to fight! This song really deeply connects to me, especially with my pain and traumas I've faced with toxic friendships that I am no longer in, the attachment to those people and the memories feel like you are being held back and you need them to survive, but the longer you move on with life without them the better you feel and the more you realize you can be a happier people without them, they'll never define you, they are in the past and everybody has a bright beautiful future ahead of them, this song touches me and I relate to it so deeply and bad, the song speaks everything that I've gone through, and how I came back so much stronger and resilient, and I really hope this beautiful song does the same for many who listen to it, I really thank Sia for this stunning yet touching song, doesn't matter how old it is, it is a work and beauty of art, especially for those who need it most, like I did.
So many of Sia's songs have seemed to be written about me. I can relate to your pain. I got out of an abusive marriage only to be revictimized by a sibling and am now suffering from PTSD. I was so careful not to get into another abusive marriage, but realizing the extent of my sister's narcissistic personality disorder (now considered mental illness in the latest diagnosis manual, DSM V) blindsided me. Dr. Les Carter and Shaneen Megji have great videos on TH-cam for victims of narcissitic abuse and help for healing the pain and trauma caused by toxic relationships.
This used to be me for a while until I met someone who changed my life completely and now I barely think negative about my self and about suicidal thoughts, I used to cut myself I wanted to feel pain because I felt like everyone hated me some people still do which I understand. But now I don’t think that stuff anymore all thanks to him. I love him with all my heart.

For those of you who don't understand what this song is about: Sia's boyfriend died in a car crash a couple years back. They were madly in love. So when he died, she became deeply depressed and almost killed herself. This song is about standing back up from her put of despair and trying to move on. She says hat she has "thick skin". Which means that she is trying to be strong about it. I think the whole "elastic heart" means that she has multiple feelings that just bounce around inside of her. She is just trying to break out of the cage that has been holding hostage. At the end of the video, it shows the girl trying to break the guy out. That represents trying to get back into the world and not be all alone anymore. I think this song really has deep meaning and I love it for that reason.

This song really deeply connects to me, especially with my pain and traumas I've faced with toxic friendships that I am no longer in, the attachment to those people and the memories feel like you are being held back and you need them to survive, but the longer you move on with life without them the better you feel and the more you realize you can be a happier people without them, they'll never define you, they are in the past and everybody has a bright beautiful future ahead of them, this song touches me and I relate to it so deeply and bad, the song speaks everything that I've gone through, and how I came back so much stronger and resilient, and I really hope this beautiful song does the same for many who listen to it, I really thank Sia for this stunning yet touching song, doesn't matter how old it is, it is a work and beauty of art, especially for those who need it most, like I did.

I was so careful not to get into another abusive marriage, but realizing the extent of my sister's narcissistic personality disorder (now considered mental illness in the latest diagnosis manual, DSM V) blindsided me. Dr. Les Carter and Shaneen Megji have great videos on TH-cam for victims of narcissitic abuse and help for healing the pain and trauma caused by toxic relationships.

For those of you who don't understand what this song is about:
Sia's boyfriend died in a car crash a couple years back. They were madly in love. So when he died, she became deeply depressed and almost killed herself. This song is about standing back up from her put of despair and trying to move on. She says hat she has "thick skin". Which means that she is trying to be strong about it. I think the whole "elastic heart" means that she has multiple feelings that just bounce around inside of her. She is just trying to break out of the cage that has been holding hostage. At the end of the video, it shows the girl trying to break the guy out. That represents trying to get back into the world and not be all alone anymore. I think this song really has deep meaning and I love it for that reason.
