Mao Mao: Heroes of Pure Heart is actually kinda complex and deep. I love Mao Mao’s personality: Tough, and rough/a little mean on the outside, but really he has a soft side and a background of neglect and not being appreciated enough. It’s so entertaining and cute watching Mao Mao sometimes slip up and periodically blush a bit, cry, happiness, etc. Honestly, if we’re being serious here, BadgerMao isn’t likely because LGBTQ+ couples aren’t really mentioned when it comes to kids shows because some parents haven’t explained it to their kids yet. Only in the fandom, I guess. But honestly I’m really stoked about Episode 17 where his dad finally comes to the kingdom AaaAaaAaa! 9/7 :P
Cartoon Network is pretty lax when it comes to LGBTQ+ to be honest, but a lot of shows prefer to play it safe. Also, it's noticeable that Mao Mao is very protective of Adorabat and tries to be the best father figure possible to avoid Adorabat from suffering the same neglect that he did.
