Lovely interview with a very nice man. Always visit Hollands when I’m home for a holiday to get the lotto and the papers. I agree about the traffic in Galway it’s awful but I’m not sure a Luas type system would work. Perhaps a park and ride system might also be considered, it works for Oxford which is a similar sized place.
There's a question to be asked about the supporters of light rail in Galway and that is why they are only passionate about 1 type of light rail offered by a single company. They are not looking to get a luas for Galway as the Coventry system is nothing like that. Why are they only focused on one type of offering, that only 1 company makes, if anything it sounds like paid lobbying efforts from the Coventry company which will result in a poor solution for Galway's transport issues. Holland is at the forefront of this lobbying. I want light rail in Galway but the VLR offering from the Coventry company is a crap one that will not improve anything in Galway
London underground and New Yorks subway are nothing like the VLR proposal from Holland. Why he is making that comparison is beyond me. Its like comparing the speed of a F1 car and a Toyota Corolla just because they are both cars, farcical indeed
Fair play about mentioning the traffic. My home town ill never return. And while ye vote for the likes of Horsebox Connolly the bridge will never come.
