I watched this video and it is lacking a lot of context. I am a long time Corel Painter user and I used Procreate as well. Both are good programs. Personally I found Painter to be much more pleasurable to paint with because the brushes, the flow maps, textures, blenders, etc. Not to say I don't enjoy Procreate as well. I would say Procreate might be good for beginners who are starting their art journey. If you are a high level accomplished artist who can do gallery type work, Painter might be a better fit. Ultimately for both programs, you still need basic art skills like drawing, composition, color theory, etc to make anything out of both.
Not knowing composition, color theory, perspective and shading makes both applications just great for doodling and drawing smiley faces. Right now I'm learning those art skills using graphite pencils as well as colored pencils and acrylics making each pretty fun to use
Biggest cost of Procreate is your must have a Apple device. That is very expensive and iOS is not very compatible with my work or school. So if you dont have a Apple device then getting a drawing pad and connecting it to your windows computer with Corel is cheaper.
Actually if you count the cost of the device (Now Ipad pro: 799 + 12 dollars for app) you'll see that getting a 400 something app is cheaper. And you said it, Corel resembles other professional apps in interface and offers more realistic painting experience. So procreate is good for playing but I wouldn't say it's better.
I haven’t used Corel painter and it does sound awesome. However I love the portability of procreate on the iPad. I like to move around and not be stuck in my place. For example doing art on my work breaks. As well from someone who has adhd and easily gets overwhelmed, procreate is a winner in my books. I know there is an up front cost of getting an iPad and Apple Pencil (the basic version is now Apple Pencil compatible) it is worth it for me!
I have both procreate is great more simple for me its faster but corel is on another lvl i can really step up my game that procreate simply cant do i would compare it to a essential corel but not the full version. I still use procreate alot and csp on my tablets.
It would be great if the M3 iPad Pro (2024) will run with MacOS and Procreate is available on MacOS because reportedly the touchscreen display MacBook will be launched in the following year (2025)
I have to add this comment after using both Painter and Procreate, Procreate artworks almost all look the same which is great for Manga but not so much for originality and cannot compare to the more advanced features in Painter.
I have Corel Painter, Procreate, CSP, Rebelle and Photoshop. In my personal opinion, Corel Painter has the best brushes and tools made specifically for artists. This program lacks only a few modern features, such as the ability to record the drawing process like in CSP.
Had Corel for decades now, and Procreate for years. Both are fantastic and really cannot be compared.

Good information.
Humble bundle has sold Corel Painter versions for a lot less than the full price for years, it would be unfair not to mention this.
ANd is doing right now again
Yes, I was going to mention Humble Bundle’s current offering, total investment less than $30.
Also, there is Escape Motions Rebelle 6 software
And now too feb 2 2024
They did it again right now
Procreate being tied to an operative system makes the choice clear for me: Corel Painter.

I am a senior citizen and have pretty shaky hands. One feature that Procreate does not have that Corel Painter does is the trace feature.
"Without further ado"
"before we continue"

Actually you can record your process in Painter using Scripts. That feature has been in the program for a long time....maybe 20 years or more.
