i have to say i'm so jealous watching videos like that. I feel like I'm slaving away at my dead end job to pay my bills and feed my children. I'm passed 30 and I wish I would have realized sooner what my goals in life is. But i guess I should be happy that I found them. now. And that I have a bunch of life left to live. I hope I have reached the biggest goals (finishing my education, getting my license and moving back to my hometown) in 2 years. Fingers crossed! I'll always have these videos for inspiration

Okay, so, funny story- my grandma’s name was Naomi. When her grandkids were small we couldn’t say “Grandma Naomi” so it came out “Grandma Omi”. We called her that for years when she found out that Omi means grandma in German. One of her grandmothers was Swiss (second gen immigrant) and the another grandfather was German (first gen immigrant). It was a nice bit of serendipity and I’ve already decided that when I’m a grandma someday I want my grand kids to call me Grandma Omi in honor of her. ❤️
I do the same! I learn for fun and to better myself. I deal with alot of negative thoughts, anxiety, and exc. To study subjects that I've always wanted to learn back in school makes me feel so good. It's really important to find something productive that my mind could put focus on.
I think it is so important to remember that you can still learn out of school. Like you said when you are in school learning doesn't feel very fun anymore because you were forced to and learning should be fun and what you want. I think it's sad that not many people like to learn anymore. Just wanted to hop on here to say that! 😊

Coming back yo this vlog for the millionth time in two years because this past spring I experienced a health-issie-induced spike in anxiety that I have never had that triggered with early dark nights pre-daylight savings. While the anxiety has died down significantly, I want to make sure I take the time this fall to ease into the darker evenings with peace ad productivity.
My Oma (on my dad’s side) was also born and raised in Germany during that time period! My Opa was from the US and in the military - he spoke German and married my Oma in Germany, and my dad was born on a military base in Frankfurt! LOVE your videos, by the way!! 🫶🏻

Ohh my sweet sister I share living in Germany to when my dad was in the service. We were in France for the most part. I would love to learn German and French. I know a tee tiny bit of French. My mom has French blood and it’s all my grandma spoke even though it was a little different being from Louisiana. It was like French creole. School actually destroys children's love of learning. All children have an innate desire to learn but by school presenting grades, i.e. extrinsic motivation, it slowly destroys the desire to learn especially subjects that don't come as easily as others. I've also started trying to learn other languages since leaving school and recapture my love of learning and I'm so glad I'm not the only one
That was so lovely to watch. I agree with learning being more fun as an adult. I didn’t exactly love school, but always loved exploring random topics. So don’t worry if you are searching for random things, I think it’s amazing how many „useless“ facts aren’t useless at all and most times add to a bigger picture after a while.

Oh my gosh my parents also met in Germany! My dad was in army intelligence and was stationed there in the mid 70's. My mom was working as an apprentice in a bakery. She used to sneak into the local disco to go dancing (she wasn't old enough to get in lol), and my dad would hang out there with her older brothers. They were just friends at first because she was so young, but they eventually started dating a couple of years older. My dad's time in the army was going to be up a few months after they started dating. My mom could either marry him and come to America or stay in Germany and never see him again. She chose to marry him and they were married for 41 years before they passed away unexpectedly a few years ago. They used to speak German in front of us any time they didn't want us to know what they were saying lol. It's so cool that your parents met the same way! Funnily enough, my mom was a Spaniard living in Germany, so all the German in me actually comes from my dad's side.
These videos are just so motivating for me to get my act together and work on my apartment. Getting it to look nicer. I deal with depression and anxiety so many times, I get a bit frustrated and lose interest in things for various reasons so, I am working my way back into getting it together. Even if that means I have to start chunking some stuff and starting again and getting better organized. I have been in my apartment for almost 9 years and its still hard for me to find places for stuff, even during a time I didn't have nearly as much as I do now! It is beyond frustrating! LOL So, maybe I just need to keep these on throughout the day along with other things that help me mentally and emotionally. just relax, then get moving! (and maybe put down my switch too..lol..I tend to get lost in that little world and end up on it for hours unintentionally)
As someone who also struggles with depression and anxiety I hear you. Have you tried an accountability partner or co-working buddy to help get stuff done? I particularly love co-working on video calls with people. 😊

I studied abroad there back in 2015 and have visited once since then and so desperate to go back and potentially live there for longer than a couple of months!!! If your worried about moving somewhere without anyone who might be able to relate to you, I would consider asking the universities how many American students attend! That helped me a lot when I was abroad!

I love so much about your daily routine! And although I won’t be buying an English country cottage, I have a gallery wall of old vintage and antique English cottage/garden prints in crusty frames. They’re my favorite! And doing a tour of Ireland and the uK is on my bucket list. The idea of romanticizing one’s life appeals so much to me and improves my mental health. I did this as a child, making up stories as I played the part of my favorite heroines. I rambled around the family farm and through the woods surrounding my grandparent’s home. I’ve never met or heard of anyone else with such a similar story to my family! My grandmother is 100% as well, she was born and raised in Germany. She was late teen/early twenties when WWII was going on, and she was a German nurse during it. My grandfather is an American soldier who was stationed nearby where my grandmother worked, and that’s how they met. There more to the story after that, but how interesting we have such a similar backstory! ❤️

Where I live in Spain, we are having really high covid numbers, so I have been experiencing a lot of anxiety (coupled with my uni exams it hasn't been pretty, to say the least). Just a side note on your sheet with german nouns. In German, all nouns are written with capital letters. And it helps to learn the Kasus. In English, you don't have that but it is basically how articles (der, die, das) change depending on the pronoun. That is something you sadly have to memorise. Native speaking germans don't have to memorise it because they hear it if it's wrong or right.

I buy the big 100 count packs of tea lights (about 8 a month) and boxes of taper candles so that on gloomy days and at nighttime I can live by candlelight as well as some pretty vintage lamps with soft 15 watt amber bulbs. I read and bathe by candlelight every evening and it's such a cozy, wonderful feeling!

I love this video so much!!! I too am currently trying to manifest living in the UK again. My dream is Scotland though lol!!! I studied abroad there back in 2015 and have visited once since then and so desperate to go back and potentially live there for longer than a couple of months!!! I can’t wait for the world to open up again so I can try to make this dream a reality!!!!

@@mahsaasadian1504 I studied at the University of St Andrews and loved it there!!! They have great programs and activities for students. Also a nice plus is a lot of the students are American. If your worried about moving somewhere without anyone who might be able to relate to you, I would consider asking the universities how many American students attend! That helped me a lot when I was abroad!

I love so much about your daily routine! And although I won’t be buying an English country cottage, I have a gallery wall of old vintage and antique English cottage/garden prints in crusty frames. They’re my favorite! And doing a tour of Ireland and the uK is on my bucket list. The idea of romanticizing one’s life appeals so much to me and improves my mental health. I did this as a child, making up stories as I played the part of my favorite heroines. I rambled around the family farm and through the woods surrounding my grandparent’s home. Thanks for the inspiration to make the most of every moment, opportunity and situation!

I’ve never met or heard of anyone else with such a similar story to my family! My grandmother is 100% as well, she was born and raised in Germany. She was late teen/early twenties when WWII was going on, and she was a German nurse during it. My grandfather is an American soldier who was stationed nearby where my grandmother worked, and that’s how they met. There more to the story after that, but how interesting we have such a similar backstory! ❤️

Where I live in Spain, we are having really high covid numbers, so I have been experiencing a lot of anxiety (coupled with my uni exams it hasn't been pretty, to say the least). Just a side note on your sheet with german nouns. In German, all nouns are written with capital letters. And it helps to learn the Kasus. In English, you don't have that but it is basically how articles (der, die, das) change depending on the pronoun. That is something you sadly have to memorise. Native speaking germans don't have to memorise it because they hear it if it's wrong or right.

It's like reading through a new lense and learning to decipher code! The children's series The Magic Treehouse and The Little Prince are where I started. You feel the improvement page by page 😊📚💡🔍❤🌱
I visited Bavaria about 10 years ago. It was truly a fairytale world. Incredibly beautiful. We went to Neuschwanstein castle. Amazing feat of architecture & engineering marvel building in those high mountains. Stunning!! Hope you & Jared get to experience it together. 💗🏰🇩🇪
My husband lived in Bavaria as a child, his parents used to take him to Andechs Abbey and he has such fond memories.
"Articles are going to be the death of me" as someone who has been speaking German for almost ten years YUP they're the absolute worst...and it gets harder unfortunately but keep going!! I would love to go back to Germany and move there because I miss it so much

Your videos are so beautiful. I took German 1 in high school. I am 64 years old and still remember some of it. My Mom is 100 percent German. But she was the last of nine kids. So by then they quit speaking German. But it is a very beautiful language. ❤

I buy the big 100 count packs of tea lights (about 8 a month) and boxes of taper candles so that on gloomy days and at nighttime I can live by candlelight as well as some pretty vintage lamps with soft 15 watt amber bulbs. I read and bathe by candlelight every evening and it's such a cozy, wonderful feeling!
