Very good review of Tiguan, however the spec you driving doesn't cost R750k as mentioned in other comments. Also 110kws with family and luggage on journey might not be sufficient. I see even the later release 2l tsi is only going be 140kws. Which is lower than outgoing model
Emissions regulations have been properly ramped up and squeeze the manufacturer in a corner... which means lower power levels to meet regulations of fleet C02 amounts.Eventually ICE simply cannot meet them.... game over for fossil fuel drive trains.
Bought this as brand new month ago then the famous software issue came been with the vw service department almost two weeks without driving. Very unhappy still waiting to be fix. Anyone knows if there is a fix for this please ? Thanks 😢
I understand that looks are subjective but, if I'm being honest, I am not at all fond of the design of the new Tiguan. I much rather prefer the design of the outgoing model - both the interior and exterior appear more upmarket, sophisticated and luxurious (in my opinion). It seems as though Volkswagen attempted to appeal to a more youthful audience with the new design, but ended up making it look cheap and less premium, from both an exterior and interior perspective. Secondly, I agree with Jacob regarding the location of the gear lever. I was never a fan when Mercedes changed the placement thereof attached to the steering column and I still have a strong dislike towards this trend today. Personally, I don't like my gear lever looking like an indicator switch. Lastly, those sliding temperature controls are absolutely horrendous. Taking our physical buttons for climate controls is one thing, but having to fiddle around with sliding controls to adjust the temperature in the cabin would be enough to make me want to take a hammer to that centre console.
VW products in general are just exorbitantly priced. This new Tiguan is no exception. Tiny engine for your cold hard cash.... never. Rather opt for a low mileage Haval H6 Hybrid or GWM Tank 300. Nissan X-trail AWD is also a solid buy. If you like a Toyota... go buy a Rav4 Hybrid. The Tucson 2D fwd is also solid.
Chiro would've asked what madness is this with the price of the tiguan rather than asking someone to show him a cherry that reached a million kilometers... Yeah we need that guy back. We don't need a sponsored video. Ons is nie dom hie nie
Agreed, If this channel feels we don't deserve some kind of video explaining where the main guy is then we should treat the channel the same and unsubsribe and stop watching. It sounds childish to do this but how earth can you get rid of SA clarkson without any notice or explanation. Is the ANC running the channel now 😂
So is it about "sponsored video" or the presenter? If this is sponsored as you insinuate then even Ciro would have had to play the script. But if it's the presenter you have a problem with, say it with your chest out keyboard warrior.
@alternativeview99 why are you so worked up? Calm down there keyboard warrior. We have a problem with the presenter and maybe a little problem with the 'feeling' that the video is sponsored. Your response makes me think you are the wife or mother of the new presenter? If so. It's all good
Hi from Turkiye, “I bought this car in the month it was released, but unfortunately, I had to sell it due to many issues, including assistant errors. Additionally, even though I bought it brand new, I was sold a car with parts tampered with. Despite my correspondence with Germany, no one took responsibility for this.”
Haha, I don’t know how you can be disappointed by not getting electric steering column adjustment for just R750k. Spending R1.2m on an X3 doesn’t even get you that…
I bought the previous generation 2023 Facelift Tiguan R line black package and in my opinion the interior of this car looks good but the outside design is a no.. doesn’t give that aggressive look
The test driver complains about the harsh ride. YES I have a 2023 T-Roc 1.4 and the drive is super hard ! Even changing tyres to a better one and reducing pressures still provides an uncomfortable ride. The new competition's cars are way more comfortable, as is my wife's Captur and a recently rented Fiat 500. Come on VW, stop putting biscuit tyres on big rims for a family car and also put on better quality shocks. You will struggle to get me as a new customer again till this is addressed.
No. There isn't one yet - internationally. They are still working on rolling out the different drive train configurations with the various power plant mixes. It should come eventually.
To be quite honest I still prefer the previous tiguan, especially the diesel one with 130kw, and I really don't understand why they detuned the new one to 110kw like what's the point?🚮🤷
Looks like some folks have hate for the reviewer, why? As for the car, actually all German brands are losing consumers because of these ever increasing prices, long options list. I’m sure the car’s interior is an improvement vs the last generation, but I don’t agree with the detuned engine. There’s always talk of the fuel quality as being the factor, and I have had my fair share of frustrations with my Tiguan and the fuel was given as the reason by VW, combine that with the price of this car when loaded with the options that are generally included in the price of the Chinese cars, it makes it hard to see this an option.. Also , be should offer a maintenance plan and not a service plan for this car.
Optional extras on Germany cars is sometimes a big turn off, maybe in the next 3-5 years most Germany cars will come standard with the optional extras that are more of a need here in SA i.e sunroof.
I considered a tiguan when I was in the market for new vehicle... I ended up purchasing a haval for far less and more value for money and still happy with my choice. These crazy prices are screwing us. 😂
Mediocre at best. We were scrued by VW for far too long. VW is an entry level brand in Germany and they struggle to sell in China due to mostly poor fit and finish. VW, over all, is not worth the money, there are bettre options.
I am a Tiguan 1 and 2 owner, the latter being my favourite car of all time. But, sadly, I will definitely not be buying a Tiguan 3, I do not like the “ID” look and despise touch control. And as an older person, who needs such a big, unintegrated centre screen? Rather focus on making it more responsive than bigger, VW. But I guess I am no longer their target market.
Jacob how are the safety technologies? Did i miss that on the review?.... Its a vital selling point for the Chinese because they throw in so much clever saftey features to such a point that we even feel its overkill, however at the prices they are giving cutting edge features, makes their cars real value on top of that they offer competitive warranty deals.... So what does this VW have thats better than its chinese rivals either than the bagde and reputation???

I'm not worried about the engine specs. What I'm concerned about is the lack of tech and strange ergonomics.....a gear selector located on the steering wheel???? Chomp and Lindt are both chocolates, but we shouldn’t compare them. VW may not be excelling in perceived quality lately, but let’s be honest, it’s still like Swiss chocolate compared to a Chomp. So eat your Chomp; it will satisfy the craving, but please don’t explain why you chose it over Lindt other than the price.
You don't do your homework, which is why I don't like your reviews. Your review on the C63 AMG was bad, this one is bad too.
Really enjoy your reviews. You're exceptional at what you do Bro
Agreed. Easy to listen to and keeps things slick and simple
Good review. They've got the pricing wrong.
I'm still hooked in the outgoing model
totally misunderstood what the 1mill km's engine warranty claim is attempting to say.
Please review the main touch screen while driving, more journalists need to design-shame this choice, so manufacturers will go back to buttons.
Bought this as brand new month ago then the famous software issue came been with the vw service department almost two weeks without driving. Very unhappy still waiting to be fix. Anyone knows if there is a fix for this please ? Thanks 😢
Boet my condolences 🙏
Unless you really really have to have a German car, the Omoda C9 takes it for me.
Me you same
I understand that looks are subjective but, if I'm being honest, I am not at all fond of the design of the new Tiguan.
Over 750K, no USB at the back 🙄🙄
Such a slap in the face.
Is the ANC running the channel now 😂
@@biafo4541wow
Where is Chiro btw?
Spending R1.2m on an X3 doesn’t even get you that…
Toyota Fortunar climbed to the 6th spot last month. I doubt a lot of people will choose this over a Fortuner.
MADNESS. Have you LOOKED at a Tiggo 7? HALF the price!
I bought the previous generation 2023 Facelift Tiguan R line black package and in my opinion the interior of this car looks good but the outside design is a no.. doesn’t give that aggressive look
Cute isnt exactly what I'm looking for when i buy an SUV.
Still better pricing than honda crv. This one would sell
😆 The CRV pricing is crazy.
I think so
Crv is going to compete with the Tayron not the Tiguan.
Did vw discontinue the R performance on this one
No. There isn't one yet - internationally. They are still working on rolling out the different drive train configurations with the various power plant mixes. It should come eventually.
I wouldn't be surprised if they are waiting to see sales before introducing that spec
@@blxk_childit always comes out last...normally around year 2 or 3 of launch of model.
Tiguan R and Kona N were both discontinued worldwide.
@@ozzi4627 so I'm guessing if sales are decent they'll bring it out around the facelift time
To be quite honest I still prefer the previous tiguan, especially the diesel one with 130kw, and I really don't understand why they detuned the new one to 110kw like what's the point?🚮🤷
Probably due to emission requirements in Europe and SA paying the price
It’s just a larger T-cross . Except the Tcross has a 1.5
Love the presenting my outie, I hear you adding a touch of "Ringas"
Optional extras on Germany cars is sometimes a big turn off, maybe in the next 3-5 years most Germany cars will come standard with the optional extras that are more of a need here in SA i.e sunroof.
Wheres ciro?
He's not the only representative of the Chanel
@christophersemenya9890 but the only proper, consumer focused, representative
I considered a tiguan when I was in the market for new vehicle... I ended up purchasing a haval for far less and more value for money and still happy with my choice. These crazy prices are screwing us. 😂
Mediocre at best. We were scrued by VW for far too long. VW is an entry level brand in Germany and they struggle to sell in China due to mostly poor fit and finish. VW, over all, is not worth the money, there are bettre options.
I mean its 2024 when are they gonna wake up
I am a Tiguan 1 and 2 owner, the latter being my favourite car of all time. But, sadly, I will definitely not be buying a Tiguan 3, I do not like the “ID” look and despise touch control. And as an older person, who needs such a big, unintegrated centre screen? Rather focus on making it more responsive than bigger, VW. But I guess I am no longer their target market.
Is it not 4th generation?
In Australia, MG is giving a 10 year warranty.
Omoda c9 video ❤
I hope they don't compare the C9 to this when they do the review. The C9 is miles above this, its more in the league of X3, GLC, RX etc. Its so good
@@sandisongwenya4667only if you dont know cars, chinese cars are comparable to each other only there are premium Japanese and Korean cars that can compare to certain German models....chinese can never compare eith the europeans....they have their market and these chinese brands appeal to the market that does not appeal to the other market....each to its own...
No thanks, I'm not going so sell out my sole to the Chinese
@@ozzi4627😅😅😅😅😅😅😅 😅 😅 have you experienced the Exeed brand? Its miles above VW
@@ozzi4627you can keep being delusional about the value that the entry level products the Europeans bring, however, I will also say that to each their own but don't hate on the products that are actually out competing the legacy brands.
Reminds of Jetta. Those cars were lookers, from the dramatic, classy jetta 2 that felt like big Merc smooth beautiful car. Jetta 3~4 excellent evolution keeping with the times. Jetta 5 was okay yet meeere. Jetta 6 outlook onwards, class dissappeared and replaced by functionally and that car looked like corolla. Was not surprised sales were pathetic then discontinued. Tiguan looks cool, not as dramatically beautiful as the previous version. Cherry tiggo 7 seems to have done a much better job.
VW cant go the minimalistic route maan, the busy cockpit makes a VW a VW
Vw must be joking to compare to the Chinese car with still optional feature in they cars
i hav'nt see it in person this new 1 bt for nw i still like the old 1 shape
I’d rather buy a 2018-2020 SQ5 or even a Q5, or even the Tiguan from that generation with an extended motor plan than lump a quarter of a million on the latest gen compact SUVs.
hahaha!!! R750k. German cars will be a thing of the pass in the near future. This is sad😭
Hi Jacob great content again🎉🎉🎉🎉
All traditional SA brands are going to struggle VW Ford Audi BMW Merc Nissan Mazda even Toyota are getting smashed by the Chinese brands.... we knew it was going to happen when Chinese lifted their quality game... and it's happened in a big way value wise!!!
I'm not worried about the engine specs. What I'm concerned about is the lack of tech and strange ergonomics.....a gear selector located on the steering wheel????
Don't get me started on the lack of ports for the rear passengers....not very family orientated....people in the transport industry won't consider this car as a luxury people mover.
VW makes solid cars....but I wonder if that's enough to sell modern cars in the age we are living in....buyers are becoming younger and very much more tech savvy....VW needs to overhaul their strategy when it comes to affordability and tech
Bbbrooo I can get a real nice XC90 with that money on your website which in my opinion is one of the best luxury SUVs money can buy and still have change for a few years servicing. So we'll priced maybe to VW but clearly not to the buyers.
I think even the XC60 would be a better buy, everything premium on those volvos
@@BeatsByZetan 100% I aimed high on purpose to show how ridiculous it is and those cars have everything I mean all the bells and quality interior shu new car market is insane really
Volvo = terrible resale value = expensive cost of ownership. Buy a VW and upgrade with your next trade in because of good resale value. That's a fact
@@erichweggelaar1320 oh boy that's how it goes with most luxury cars a well maintained modern volvo doesn't need upgrading my kids can driving it around 10years from now and still be balling. Good quality last and I wouldn't wanna be paying cars off for the rest of my life a normal car isn't an investment so that mindset of better resale value shouldn't always be taken into account you take a hit on most new cars you buy the moment you drive off the floor with it thats a fact. Also these kinds of VWs are also expensive to own out of warranty if you cannot afford to maintain car dont buy it. In my opinion in these times its just what you could get with the money.
@@erichweggelaar1320 And you think a VW is cheap to maintain? Lol.
So , it's the same price as the Audi Q3, Volvo Xc40, Toyota Fortuner. And VW thinks buyers are going to say no to those cars in favour of a Tiguan???
Somehow the Peugeot 3008 GT still manages to look newer and more futuristic, even while being around for longer. Similarly, the SA market is filled with evenly matched alternatives from Asia
The Germans should be offering more features as standard seriously.
750k for 110kw?! Wft Never.. Cherry Tiggo 8 all the way... Chinese are winning spec and performance. If someone is giving 7 year warranty that should comfort the buyer period.
Jake, stop selling. 750 is not well priced. Nobody can afford this and normal living expenses. Plus, future-value scams are not a reasonable solution.
Are the front headlights still removable with bare hands????until then, pass
Went to test drive this car today just for good measure. It just feels like a big polo. The thing it has going for it is the massage seats, otherwise its way over priced. Please never ever compare this to an Omoda C9 again ever, especially when it comes to which car is more premium
Up until this day the previous gen for me is waaaay better I am sorry but I am satisfied with the old one 1️⃣
"iyasela", they meant it's heavy on fuel
Love your reviews and this was solid but lost me with "Show me a Cherry with 1 million kms" before I buy it. Show me a VW of the past 20 years thats still running even with 300k km.
VW are beyond insane with their prices and SA and the WORLD for that matter is seeing it and that is why VW in Germany has for the first time in history started plans and talks to close VW Plants in Europe and retrench people. Their pricing and offering makes no sense when I can buy a Top of the Range Hybrid Haval H6 with more features/safety and double the power and 40% better fuel economy for over R200 thousand rand less. No ways. Had VW and Audi and their reliability is not better, their service is not better and there is just no reason to continue getting ripped off for these underpowered overpriced cars in this day where we have options.
This 1.4 with 20k towbar and 12k electric tailgate 18 sunroof ends up being R867 400
That said - I still drooled over and loved the previous shape Tiguan R in gray with black wheels that was parked next to me a work 🙂😍😜
Definitely a paid promotion. This is not priced well. Firstly, we get an old slow 1.4 tsi while the rest of the world gets a newer 1.5. Owners forums of the new Tiguan show countless issues with the software. VW isn't even known for reliability and they're expensive to maintain. Please bring back Ciro.
Why do you think we're not getting the 1.5?
@@DavetheCarGuy Cost cutting to try and get it to us at a cheaper price point. Which is why the Chinese will continue to dominate. They don't give us inferior engines to lower prices. And it's got nothing to do with our fuel quality. It's an excuse they use. If other carmakers can offer us better engines at lower prices and work with our fuel or adapt it for local conditions, there's no reason why VW can't. You're paying a premium for the brand right. So the least they can do is put in some effort to offer us better.
9.2l/100km? Trust me, you'd want to cough up for the diesel. Or be best friends with your fuel station. In town driving you'll be getting 10l/100km or a bit worse.
This one also baffled me! I get better consumption on my old 3.0l Isuzu🤔 And that’s the reason why you perhaps need a bigger engine so that you can deal with all that extra weight and on that note, perhaps the 1.4TSI for this car is NOT so solid?
And the price aswel? Hayi khona 🙆♂️
The small engine worke overtime😭😭
And so he has an issue with Chinese cars fuel consumption whereas the Tiguan's consumption is the same but he sort of made a "light" comment out of it
No man No man !!!! Its giving, plastic , A to Z , pure family car vibes....Its a VW R though ?!!!!!😪😪😪
Nah. Not for me. Get the diesel and you'd be happy throughout. City, town, anything and anywhere.
Also, comparing new prices to old prices that were already too high to begin with is not proving anything
Not feeling this new Tiguan...
Me, who can't afford any Tiguan 😅😅😅😅
Wireless charging?????
CX5, Sportage, Tucson, Tiggo 8, H6... All better value
Tiguan is like the iPhone of its class , the rest are android variants 😉
Did he say charge the key?
Aint no way
Chomp and Lindt are both chocolates, but we shouldn’t compare them. VW may not be excelling in perceived quality lately, but let’s be honest, it’s still like Swiss chocolate compared to a Chomp. In short, you wanted chocolate, went to the shop, and realised Lindt was too expensive, so you settled for a Chomp because it was cheaper and suited your budget. So eat your Chomp; it will satisfy the craving, but please don’t explain why you chose it over Lindt other than the price.
That video description must be sarcasm 😂 coz i know u aint spinnin us like that boet
Clean interior... But 110kw 😢
5:22 No, I don’t understand 😅
Where is Ciro?
On holiday,Enjoy Jacob
Untill im being answered i will keep asking...where is Ciro Da Siena
You don't do your homework, which is why I don't like your reviews. Your review on the C63 AMG was bad, this one is bad too. The ride on this specific Tiguan is poor because it has 20" wheels, and selecting Comfort does nothing, why? Because it does not have the option of adaptive dampers. Please do your homework beforehand, and inform the viewers adequately. I've given your video a like anyway :)
I've come to notice that his reviews are the reason the community is asking where Ciro is...🙁
What happened to the white guy?
😂you just gotta love Jacob
1.4 tsi is way too small for that car, your fuel consumtion will be higher that what you would get in a 2.0 petrol motor in that car if they ever made that
lol, that is so expensive for a up specked Polo.
Hahahaha, R750k for a flippen Tiguan
The pricing is competitive, so i expect it to sell. Also due to SA's brand loyalty, but the Chinese will definitely give it a run for its money.
The previous gen disagrees with this statement 😂😂 remember there was a facelift I think back in 2020-21 but sales have been poor
Good Review Jacob. Not sure when this car will be launched in India.
I have the a Tiguan 2022, 2 litre TSI and I doubt I will trade it in for the new one. The new model has less power and I don’t really like the design of the car
I'm starting to think this guy is being paid to do these reviews. 🤨
Its definitely a paid promo video 😅
How do you know?
@@DavetheCarGuy Dave, its suss man... Thats all. Dont get so defensive.
@mhb3088 Whats 'suss' about it?
Ok, a lot of what this dude says is odd. Park a Tiggo in front of me with a million km? What does that have to do with the warranty essentially being the life of the vehicle? A car doesn't have to have exceeded the warranty km for the warranty to be active.
