    I actually got inside one at a dealership earlier today. I love the minimalist look of the cabin. But for the love of all things automotive, I still don't get how they make decisions to have even climate controls being digital! It just doesn't make sense, but I suppose we have to live with the decisions of these old geysers who head these German companies. • @TMK264
    @TMK264 หลายเดือนก่อน +9

    The car industry reminds me a lot about the political sphere, and VW is a great example.
    Everything they have done recently - from upping the quality, including more standard spec and getting their pricing in check is not because they woke up one day and remembered that they are meant to be the "people's car" - it is because they got too arrogant, and before they knew it, the Chinese and Japanese were all over them like a rash.
    They thought brand loyalty would keep their customer base with them, and they forgot that when people have to spend their money, they will go where they feel respected and given good value.
    This car is what happens when companies design cars for the betterment of their customer base, before trying to appease the bean counters above everything else. This update also flows in well with the updates to the Golf Range - But not the Vivo, that thing is still a cash grab.
    Now they must sort out their ID cars - because in their current form, they don't stand a chance against the likes of The Koreans and The Chinese - especially BYD.
    Great review! Love this car!

      @@TMK264 the quality hasn't been upped. It's worse than ever before. Look at Tiguan owners forums. They're having countless issues with this new Tiguan. And it still lacks quite a bit of standard equipment.

    • @TMK264
      @TMK264 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@SDav21 ah, so they’ve done what the Koreans used to do before they got to this point.
      They are giving the illusion of quality, while not actually being quality? And I see they are still taking notes from the 2023/4 textbook on car sales.
      Cut the quality, slap on a lot of useless screens in the car and hope that the technology will woo them? In VW’s case, this failed spectacularly because their software has been atrocious lately, and while this may have not always been an issue, when you ship a car that’s basically all software and screens, and your software is rubbish, then you’re essentially selling an unfinished product.
      I heard it’s still not great, but that it has gotten better with this revision.
      Also explains why they ran to Rivian for help, and why nobody buys their ID cars.
      Also explains why they are still working on their feasibility study in SA for them.
      Thanks for this heads up - the forums never lie and VW still has lots of work to do on these things.

    This isn’t well priced. I’m not sure why they pushing ‘well priced’ on us. It was overpriced to begin with and now we must all be thankful that we are getting a new model at the same price? Once you load up the options that are standard on other brands it’s expensive.
    They replaced everything with cheap screens, screens are cheaper than dials. All manufacturers source them for next to nothing and run their own software on them, and then marketing makes us believe screens are expensive must have tech….. Why don’t think Bugattis and Pagani’s don’t have screens? They don’t age well and are cheap.
    There is no reason for this not to be priced better. The issue is if they match the Chinese now, the loyal consumers will realize how long we have been ripped off.

    I understand that looks are subjective but, if I'm being honest, I am not at all fond of the design of the new Tiguan. I much rather prefer the design of the outgoing model - both the interior and exterior appear more upmarket, sophisticated and luxurious (in my opinion). It seems as though Volkswagen attempted to appeal to a more youthful audience with the new design, but ended up making it look cheap and less premium, from both an exterior and interior perspective.
    Secondly, I agree with Jacob regarding the location of the gear lever. I was never a fan when Mercedes changed the placement thereof attached to the steering column and I still have a strong dislike towards this trend today. Personally, I don't like my gear lever looking like an indicator switch.
    Lastly, those sliding temperature controls are absolutely horrendous. Taking our physical buttons for climate controls is one thing, but having to fiddle around with sliding controls to adjust the temperature in the cabin would be enough to make me want to take a hammer to that centre console.

Even changing tyres to a better one and reducing pressures still provides an uncomfortable ride. The new competition's cars are way more comfortable, as is my wife's Captur and a recently rented Fiat 500. Come on VW, stop putting biscuit tyres on big rims for a family car and also put on better quality shocks. You will struggle to get me as a new customer again till this is addressed.

    Looks like some folks have hate for the reviewer, why?
    As for the car, actually all German brands are losing consumers because of these ever increasing prices, long options list.
    I’m sure the car’s interior is an improvement vs the last generation, but I don’t agree with the detuned engine.
    There’s always talk of the fuel quality as being the factor, and I have had my fair share of frustrations with my Tiguan and the fuel was given as the reason by VW, combine that with the price of this car when loaded with the options that are generally included in the price of the Chinese cars, it makes it hard to see this an option..
    Also , be should offer a maintenance plan and not a service plan for this car.

    Mediocre at best. We were scrued by VW for far too long. VW is an entry level brand in Germany and they struggle to sell in China due to mostly poor fit and finish. VW, over all, is not worth the money, there are bettre options.

And as an older person, who needs such a big, unintegrated centre screen? Rather focus on making it more responsive than bigger, VW. But I guess I am no longer their target market.

Jetta 5 was okay yet meeere. Jetta 6 outlook onwards, class dissappeared and replaced by functionally and that car looked like corolla. Was not surprised sales were pathetic then discontinued. And it's got nothing to do with our fuel quality. It's an excuse they use. If other carmakers can offer us better engines at lower prices and work with our fuel or adapt it for local conditions, there's no reason why VW can't. You're paying a premium for the brand right. Chomp and Lindt are both chocolates, but we shouldn’t compare them. VW may not be excelling in perceived quality lately, but let’s be honest, it’s still like Swiss chocolate compared to a Chomp. In short, you wanted chocolate, went to the shop, and realised Lindt was too expensive, so you settled for a Chomp because it was cheaper and suited your budget. So eat your Chomp; it will satisfy the craving, but please don’t explain why you chose it over Lindt other than the price.
