Yeah man! Just knew I'd probably hook a snap or 2 in those deep waters, and the grandaddy pukas release better than the snaps 👍🏽 beauty eating alright though
Nice one Greg. So jealous....always so great to go up north. Will be there in two weeks if the weather God's permit. And again mid Oct at Tauranga Bay....so excited
weather has been shocking lately haha but its good to have a good break in the weather. a shame u didn't get the right type of hapuka but man that frost fish.... haha not to mention the range of species u pulled from the deepblue. that poor snapper at 20:49 that sound it made..... were u using a double trouble jig?
Yeah the ol barotrauma isn't ideal! Usually a meat run when deep fishing. Yeah 100g double trouble. But going to be trying a few different types over the next wee while 👍🏽
Hey Mate always enjoy your vids any chance you could do a walk round review of you new kayak I would be really interested to know the brand specs your thoughts about it and cost. cheers
Thanks Richard! Yes, a review video is definitely on the cards! Will probably give it a month or so more so that I have a full appreciation of the kayak before doing the video.
Cut into 60mm pieces, marinate it for 12hours with decent amount of ginger slice, spring onion slice, bit of salt and cooking wine. Deep fry to golden color. Enjoy :-)
Love love your video, Have a wonderful night.
Thanks!
Ah yeah, Puka fishing on those pins is like that! but they can be caught there...
Will be back for sure 😎
The Asian version frost fish is one of the best eating fish. Nice video
Nice one mate! Great Grandaddys and Frosty!
Cheers Brad!
Mate, those Grandaddies are insanely good eating. Give it a try next time 😉

Awesome Rob!! I'm already planning a return journey too 😂 setting up a new deep water slow jigging rig for it.

Good content mate! got to love catching JD's 🙂 Ive caught JD's in 100m
Cheers man! Damn 100m! That's wild
was the frost fish worth keeping to eat ?
Nah, unfortunately not! It had worms / parasites in the flesh, so it's in the freezer for bait.
Cut into 60mm pieces, marinate it for 12hours with decent amount of ginger slice, spring onion slice, bit of salt and cooking wine. Deep fry to golden color. Enjoy :-)
Awesome vid, What kayak is that? How do you store your fish?
Thanks man! Old Town Predator PDL. It has a humongous storage area in the back. I keep my fish cold in an insulated chill bag.
